The fried catfish was the best I have had in Georgia. I have tried many since being here for 6 years in Georgia. The fish was very fresh and the breading was not salty or mushy, it was fried great and the seasoning was outstanding. Sweet tea was similar to my Mothers iced tea so it won a place in my heart and very good. Decided to try this spot out as we always see it on our way too Atlanta. I ordered the half rack of ribs with corn on the cob and baked beans. It was fantastic the ribs fell off the bone and the sauce was amazing. The side items were also delicious. To drink I had sweet tea and it was just as good as if I made it at home back in Louisiana. Possibly the worst risked that I have ever eaten. Should not have been a surprise to me, once I saw the kitchen staff put the precooked brisket in a microwave to heat before placing on the bread. We found Roger's after seeing a sign off of 85-S. With our fearless road trip mentality, we decided to check out this well-advertised BBQ joint. It's located in a small strip mall, behind Nacho's. When you walk up to the restaurant, you'll notice a quaint nature preserve on your right. It's nice scenery to start off your meal. Make sure to check out Alligator Alley. It's worth a quick photo opp. Inside, Roger's feels like home. That is if your father was an avid hunter of large game and your mother was an axe and bow wielding Native American (probably of Navajo descent). The decor hovers between delightfully tacky and obnoxiously patriotic. Warning: if you're a vegetarian, the oversized boar (potentially wild hog) guarding the frame of the door may upset your stomach. However, the chopped pork dinner plate will leave you Tums-free. We started with fried green tomatoes. It's definitely more fried than tomato. A major plus is it comes with individual ranch containers for each diner. The plates are plentiful. We tried the grilled chicken sandwich. It was flavorful and filling. Though, do request light mayo as Rog is a little heavy handed with his condiments. The majority of us had the chopped pork plate. It comes swimming in barbecue sauce and is filled with saucey flavor. The beef brisket sandwich resembled a lunch room sloppy joe in looks, though definitely tasted better than its cafeteria counter part. Our group also tried the following sides: french fries, mashed potatoes, gravy, macaroni and cheese, fried okra, coleslaw, green beans, corn on the cob, Brunswick stew. Definitely order the gravy. The rest is pretty much a toss up. Roger's also offer Texas and Louisiana hot sauces. However, we had a slight mix up and I was accidentally given the wrong kind. It almost ruined my meal. Luckily, our sweet waitress saved the day by quickly recognizing her mistake and handing over the correct Cajun flavor. Overall, service was lackadaisical. In fact, we sat at our table for 25 minutes because we didn't realize our waitress had hidden our check under a pile of napkins. It was also disappointing that we were unable to have dessert. The pastry chef was out on leave as one of her daughter's was in labor with twins. Side note, her other daughter was also pregnant...with twins! There was no timeline for her return and thus no banana pudding or peach cobbler. Overall, Roger's was fine. It was an average 3-star experience. They have t-shirts and hats for sale, but there's no need to remember this place in ink. If you happen to be in the area, there's also a Wendy's and Subway within walking distance. They also offer condiments in individual containers and have dessert options readily available. I would also advise driving 15 minutes more to eat in LaGrange. I heard they have a Longhorn. If you're looking for an average, hole in the wall barbecue place that Jeff Foxworthy has eaten at, Roger's may or may not be the place for you. read more

Stopped because we travel with dogs and saw they had an outdoor gazebo with table so dogs could get out of car!! Always a plus for us. Food was good.. Enjoyed chopped pork sandwich with slaw. Friendly servers. Would come back when travelling through the area. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My husband who never complains said he couldn't find a single good thing to say about this place. The cheese sticks weren't cooked and the cheese was still frozen, the marinara came in a peel off lid container and was cold, the Brunswick stew looked like it came from a can of dog food, the French fries were cold, the macaroni and cheese was inedible and the BBQ pork was no better than what you can buy in the deli at the local grocery store. $35.00 for food that wasn't eaten and was truly the worse meal we have ever had anywhere. I travel between Atlanta and Columbus, Georgia a lot. I had a chance to stop by and sit down for a minute. I had the barbecue plate platter, with Brunswick stew, fried onion rings, and macaroni and cheese. All were generous size proportions. Unfortunately the Brunswick stew was a a bit on the watery side and the macaroni and cheese was on the tasteless side. I give this barbecue restaurant a 3 out of five stars. read more

I love this place. The barbecue is awesome. Their homemade banana pudding is heaven. The grilled cheese is great. The fries are alright. The bathrooms are filthy (as most restaurants). I was in Columbus GA for my step sons boot camp grad and stopped her on our way to Atlanta. Best meal we've had in the 3 days I've been here! My father in law had the brisket and it was scremin! Remember when Rogers BBQ was a small block building in West Point, GA. My family has eaten at Rogers' for years and years. We love the southern traditional recipe for the barbeque and the stew. We think it's great. We now live in Fairhope, AL near the Gulf Coast and when we visit the mountains (once a year) we always make it a point to stop and eat and also bring home 5 or 6 gallons of their stew (which freezes very well). It's not a proper Christmas Eve unless we have roasted turkey sandwiches and some of the Rogers' stew. I have seen the signs on I-85 traveling thru on several trips. I decided to stop for lunch. Pulled in to a truck stop area with a Mexican restaurant, a Subway and a Love's truck stop and a bunch of other businesses. It is in a big house with a huge front porch with rocking chairs. The interior is loaded with all kinds of paraphernalia hanging on the wall. Signs hail Rogers as the Winner of the 2014 of the best Catfish in the area... usually not a good sign when a bbq joint is listed as being better at being a catfish place. I tried the chopped Q sandwich. Big chunks of pork swimming in a tart sauce. No discernable smoke flavor. No visible smoke ring. All piled on a soft Colonial Bread bun. I can make better at home. I agree: Crock pot bbq. They boast doing it since 1945 but not very well. Slaw was similar to KFC's which I like. Brunswick stew was old style, home made, and no corn. It was a little better than average but pricey. Service was slow and non existing for most of the meal. They did finally ask if we wanted a refill on the sweetest sweet tea I have had in a while. And I am a life long Southerner who loves sweet tea. No one asked about dessert. Finally found out you pay at the register after sitting there for bit. Got a surly lady who only asked," Everthinggood?" Yeah, all in 1 word. She handed me the credit card receipt to sign by flipping the pen on to counter. She spent most of her time talking to other servers instead of paying attention to the customers at the register. Never said thanks for coming, have a nice day... nothing. We were trying to find a dog-friendly place to eat lunch on our way through Georgia, and we are so glad that we found Rogers BBQ! The food was very good, especially the brisket, and the baked beans were the tastiest I have had in a long time! But best of all, they were very kind and welcoming to our pup, even bringing him a bowl of ice water while we dined in a cute gazebo out front. Stopped here on Aug 2, 2011 and had catfish and wife ordered a ribeye steak medium rare. When meal was served the steak looked terrible and was well done. When waitress returned we told her it was over cooked and she had to look at her ticket and then decide it was. We sent it back and no replacement meal wanted. The catfish were also over cooked and hushpuppies were not fit to eat. Hard as a baseball. We will not be stopping here again. Paid for catfish and the salad that came with the steak dinner.
