My dad was released yesterday, after being at Midwestern a few months. When he got there he was…read moreunable to walk. Therapy worked with him and now he is walking again. The staff is amazing from the business side of things all the way to the cleanliness of the facility. The nurses and aides are all amazing! I felt like I could talk to anyone of them and have a problem resolved. My dad became family there, he cried when he left! If we ever need a care facility in the future, this is where we want to be!

Here it goes. Rooms are average size but an over whelming smell of urine. If you drop in unexpected…read moreyou see gloves, dirt diapers ect...... laying on the floor. My loved one has lost "ALL" their clothes more than once. During the summer time the flies are unbearable, the flies out number the patients 100 to1. I have never seen any activities done but heard of a few times the painted a picture. Bingo is the only thing they offer regularly. There is a lady who does hair but every month she ups her prices. My loved one went 2 weeks without the staff washing their hair. I call to check on my loved one and the phone rings for 20 minutes and then you have to leave a message for the nurse to call you back in which she never does. I have been on the phone with my Loved one when staff was using the hoyer lift. My loved one was scramming in pain but the staff never stops to ask what was wrong and when asked why they did stop to ask what was hurting; their reply was they did not want to interrupt the patient's conversation. I have seen other patients sitting in soiled clothes to the point of leaving puddles of urine on the floor. My loved on has a rash that looks likes raw liver; they are in so much pain they cry!!!! ALWAYS UNDER STAFFED; I was told by a few employees that their corporate office will not allow more staff on the floor and sending the patients to the hospital. Corporate wants everything done in house (affects scores). Staff does not understand dementia, staff blackmail patients to attempt to make the patients behave. Staff asks for the patients' food. Our loved one deserves to have dignity and respect. I truly believe inmates are treated better than the patients at Midwestern Healthcare Center. I want to knowledge there are a few staff members who do a great job with what they have. But are in the shadows of the majority. This is not even all that I have witness.

My dad was here for almost 7 years before he passed away December 2025. When he first came here it…read morewasn't bad, but he could do for himself the staff didn't have to do much. Has he got older and his dementia got worse his stay got worse. He got in an argument with his roommate that didn't have dementia, so they moved my dad who did have it to another room not just another room but another hall. This was September 2025. Since then, his health went downhill tremendously. He couldn't talk well at all; he had a hard time feeding himself and he was hurting he would constantly be yelling help me. We noticed they would just bring his food tray in and lay it on the table and leave. My dad couldn't get to the food by himself and even if he would have a hard time getting it ready to eat and when he did eat by himself most of it went on the floor. So not sure how much he had to eat before he got really sick in December. On Christmas Day we went to see him and he was in bed with oxygen and sounding real bad. We ended up taking him to the ER because the Nursing Home was doing nothing about taking him. They kept saying the Dr. has to sign off for us to take him to ER. We were asking when Dr would arrive and they said the Dr isn't coming. Come to find out at the ER we found out he had a hernia, enlarged prostate and they did nothing at the Nursing home to help him. So, unless you want your Loved Ones to just fade away and die send them to University Park. When we were in hospice with my dad, they asked what Nursing home he was at, we told them and they just rolled their eyes and said I would never take anyone there. Also, this place isn't the cleanest, every time we would visit the floors were sticky, I have been there and had to go to nursing station for them to clean his bed because it was nasty with poop stains on it. When we were cleaning out my dad's room after he passed everything in the drawers were molded and the drawers were nasty.

Whenever I went to visit a resident at this facility, I I noticed an overall unpleasant smell…read more Other residence, open sighting me, would implore for me to help them. I learned the resident that I came to visit was often times frustrated with not having her call bell within reach. When I assisted in activating thecall bell, I observed a total lack of or extreme delayed response. Staffing shortages was the excuse given for inattentiveness. Also the resident was forced to change own disposable brief or be forced to lie in it! I noticed brown dried matter( ??)) around this resident's finger nails. Please note pictures depicting the resulting contamination. This is on the bed table where her snacks and drinks are also placed and on the floor, where her wheelchair rolls through it, her hands being contaminated by same wheels, no opportunity for hygienic prophylactic handwashing, and when I asked the nurses for hand sanitizer, I was told they couldn't find any!!! The food is very subpar e.g."apple crisp" consisted of canned apples with saltines crumbled on top. The resident would often refuse the food and go hungry. In short, I would not kennel my dog at this facility!
