Popped in, immediately notice that despite the place being quite small it's well planned with a good sizeable kitchen and a couple of seats on either side. Also looking modern, clean and stylish despite the limited space. As it's summer, they also have an outdoor patio that can accommodate quite a few more guests. I ordered Sapporo, a mixed sushi plate of 8 pieces. They had a few orders to make before mine so it'd take approximately 15-20 minutes. No worries, popped into the supermarket next door and came back about 15 minutes later. I sat there waiting for my order to be finished, and when I noticed someone who'd ordered after me got their food I knew something was up. One of the chefs behind the counter also noticed that something wasn't right, so she asked me again what I had ordered and she immediately responded "I'm so sorry! We have misplaced your order, I'll get right on it!" She was genuinely apologetic and swiftly did my order, and also asking what kind of sushi I preferred as she'd include some extra pieces. Right off the bat I said "shrimp and avocado!". She excused herself once again and I think that when someone shows this much courtesy and customer friendliness, to not acknowledge it is downright rude. So I said "Hey, no worries, it happens. And you went out of your way to make up for it. I truly appreciate it and will definitely be back!". She seemed glad. That said, what about the food? You know, it was really really good! Fresh, well balanced proportions of rice and seafood, rich and salty soy sauce with spicy and sinus cleansing wasabi! Seaweed salad and sweet ginger to complement the seafood. I'll be more than happy to have more sushi from this bar any day of the week.

I've always enjoyed sushi. Never loved it to that point that I actively look for a sushi restaurant…read morewhen I travel or such, but if the opportunity presents itself I never shy away from it. This place has been here for some time, located a bit off and away from the main city street where most people, cafes and stores are located. However, people do find their way to this establishment anyway, mostly during the busy rush hour lunch traffic. In the afternoon however, I've never had the feeling that particularly many find their way here as it usually looks borderline on empty. The location as such can't be sugarcoated no matter how you look at it, it's simply almost as bad as it comes. In the corner of a dead-end street next to a parking garage and no stores in the vicinity makes it stand out in the wrong way. The next thing is the decor and design of the restaurant itself; it's extremely boring with absolutely no sense of style. It looks very old and outdated. It would gain so much by changing out the interior making it darker, more inviting, shut out some of the horrible "view" outside by doing something to the windows such as curtains, drapes and modern art. Also, advertising near the ordering counter (another big letdown, they should have waiters instead) that they want you to "like" them on other social media sites (none mentioned but you have brains...) as that earns you an extra two pieces for free is just, well, I have no words for it. That they also advertise on a whiteboard above the ordering counter how many "likes" they have is, well again I'm entirely lost for words. We've all heard that if you can't say anything positive, then don't say anything. I'll try and keep myself to that saying in this particular case. These things aside, no matter how much I dislike them, the food should be in focus. And if we're talking only about that I must say that I'm slightly impressed. Have I had better sushi than these? Absolutely. Have I had worse? Oh for sure! They are delicately prepared, fresh and well-tasting with just the right amount of rice. One sushi-bite can be taken as a whole and it doesn't feel too big in your mouth, neither does it disappear right away. Size-wise they are right on the money! They come presented on a black plate, making all the colors stand out and they all look like small pieces of art. On the tables there are three different kinds of soy sauce that caters to whatever amount of salt you want your soy sauce to have. The wasabi wasn't the mildest I've had either, so it packed a good punch to the soy sauce. The ginger was pickled sweet and a great contrast to both the sushi pieces and the sauce. Also, the miso-soup based on fish stock that I had before my main was also very good. Definitely had worse of those as well! So why only a 2 rating you ask? Well the food is a definite 3, no doubt. But my problems here are the location and the decor of the place making it feel like a sleazy back alley joint that earns them nothing more than a rating of 1. So overall the rating is what it is. But if you want some well prepared sushi, pick them up as take away instead and enjoy them somewhere nicer, perhaps in the comfort of your own home. Get in, get your food, and get out.

Gusto has got all the ingredients for that genuine neighborhood place that you'd be more than happy…read moreto come back to time and time again. Actually located inside a courtyard surrounded by domestic houses and apartments does bring that local charm to the forefront. The restaurant in itself is located in a yellow wooden house and it's quite easily missed and even I walked right past it the first time even though I was actually on my way there! The restaurant is all Italian-influenced and it has two separate sections, one is referred to as the "Pizza Bar" where, of course, pizza is in the forefront. And here we're talking about Napolitan quality pizza with amazing ingredients. At this part of the restaurant there are no reservations but only drop-in, take away, or hanging out at the bar, perfect for instance an after work get-together. The Pizza Bar also holds the bar with a good selection of beers, cocktails, wines, sometimes live music and DJs. A nice party place. The other section of Gusto is the "Taverna", the a la carte dining area only open during evening from Wednesdays to Saturdays. Here they also have all the pizzas but also a lot of other dishes. Moving on. I came here with three kids in tow after several hours at an adventure water park - all of them both tired and hungry. We sat down at one of the available tables and I went over to the bar and ordered pizzas. For the kids it was a Margherita (tomato, Fior de Latte mozzarella, basil and olive oil) with extra prosciutto. For myself I wanted to go out on a limb and try something completely "out there". They had one pizza called Alberto that consisted of buffalo mozzarella, rosemary potato(!), garlic, salsiccia, and grana padano. When the pizzas came out I was utterly amazed by how tasty all the kids pizza's looked and my looked like something I had never seen. But taking my first bite of it I just sighed and said "wow...". Utterly amazing and delicious. Crispy yet fluffy dough with such good taste, and all the ingredients were like fireworks in my mouth. The kids devoured their pizzas like they'd never seen food before and all of them were extremely happy. I'm telling you, there's pizza and there's Pizza! So good, and a really beautiful restaurant with great service. I'm definitely taking the entire family and going back for a visit to the Taverna section next time - I'm absolutely a fan! Best pizza I've had in a long time, maybe just ever to be honest.
