We weren't impressed with this restaurant. We were pretty bummed. We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer and it covered in a garlic aioli it was just to much for our liking on the sprouts. The chicken parm was pretty good we also had the chicken rollatini it was ok. The service I have to say I was pretty quick. The one thing I will say I got a soda and the server came back and asked if I would like another and I said sure and then we were charged again for soda. they do not have free refills so that night for two sodas was $8. I was very surprised. Normally at restaurants I have noticed that if they don't have free refills, they tell you before you order the second one or if they offer to get you another one. It does have a nice bar area that's kind of blocked out from the rest of the restaurant. read more

In the mood for clam chowder my mom and I stopped in for a quick lunch at the bar. It was amazing. The music was upbeat. The crowd was helpful- although I was asking strangers questions (which could be interepted as intrusive). That was not the case here. I don't typically finish my food (very slow eater) but I ate all of clam chowder in one sitting. I ordered the calamari as to accompany my soup. They were superb. The freshest, lightest, yet satisfying calamari I've had in some time. The portion size is huge. My mom ordered chicken parm and she was impressed. My sister had some of her leftovers and asked where did we go because she had to dine there! Itook calamari home and my 8 and 9 year old devoured the leftovers I warmed lightly in the air fryer. I plan to come back for a romantic dinner or maybe even solo date. I was told reservations are reccommended. read more

My husband wanted Italian for his birthday and thankfully I stumbled upon this lovely restaurant here on yelp! The space has a great ambiance and we were seated in a stunning room with a fireplace. The decor is beautiful and the wine room looked absolutely spectacular. The service was excellent and our server was so nice. We got plenty of appetizers to try and portions are so generous! Everyone loved everything! I especially loved their house made cavatelli. Our only regret is not saving room for dessert! One of the owners, Tommy, is so friendly and came to our table at the end of our meal and it was a great personable touch. After hearing about Roma for years, I finally smartened up and checked it out. We were greeted warmly at the door by Tom, one of the owners. Staff were friendly and attentive. The menu has good variety, but not diluted into every known Italian dish. Instead, Roma focuses on quality dishes of pasta, veal, chicken, with tantalizing app's and a few add-on sides. We had a 'bigga meatball' (pic), stuffed figs+prosciutto, then fresh Cavatelli (mine was sausage fra diavolo), followed by killer Tiramisu. Work Christmas party took us to Roma Ristorante. 4/5 The ambiance was so beautiful. We were in a room with two other large groups, which meant it was loud. The room was beautiful though. The service was great but slow. It was a Tuesday night with one waitress handling three large tables, so I don't hold that against them. The waitress we had was very kind and went above and beyond for us. The food... For apps we tried the calamari, stuffed mushrooms, and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts stole the show there with the calamari a close second. The stuffed mushrooms felt like they needed some more seasoning. The entres, personally I had the rigatoni Al la vodka and added ricotta, hubby had the seafood pasta (a special) and the other dish was my aunts handmade pasta dish. Over all the food was delicious. The scallops on the seafood dish were amazing. For dessert, we tried the cannolis and the Godiva cheesecake. Overall a great experience and I would definitely go back. read more

Went to Roma with my cousin on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy but they said we could sit at the bar and eat. The bartender was friendly and a lot of fun! She served us fast and got our food order in right away. We sat and had wine and the most delicious meal. Great lively atmosphere and seems to be a local hang out spot. Very nice inside, bar area is small and cozy, in addition to the dining area they have a whole other side where you can book for events and such. The owner was super friendly and came to chat with us a couple times, even took us on a little tour of the place. After we ate our meal we ordered dessert which was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I've never had such good rainbow cake as I did here! I am drooling just thinking about the food there! read more

Went there the first time with my wife for her birthday and our anniversary' for dinner. It's about 30 mins from us. One of my workers recommended we try it. Everything was amazing from the hospitality to the service to the best chicken Francese to their homemade cavatelli. My wife and I went to Roma on March 18, 2025 after moving to Waterbury in May 2024. We were really looking forward to it as we heard very good things about the restaurant. First, the food was excellent and the service was above average, but the cliente had much to be desired. My wife and I like to eat at the bar instead of the dining room so we don't have to deal with young children interrupting our meal and conversation. We ended our dinner early at the bar due to an ignorant customer loudly giving everyone in the bar a history lesson on Hitler, and how there was no way the Nazi's could have burned that many Jews. Then we got the man never went to the moon conspiracy. All the while the bartender and another employee were at the end of the bar with this idiot. Even though they were not engaged in the conversation they were not objecting. Complicity. We spent $140 on dinner and a round of drinks. WE WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. Cute, cozy atmosphere with really delicious food.The appetizers were all excellent, from the salad to the bread to the polpette (giant meatball) to the calamari, which was fried perfectly. My parents got the Italian chopped salads, which I tried a bit of and really enjoyed. So going back, I would probably get that. For my dinner I got the chicken rollatini, which was hearty and flavorful. I kind of wish I got the chicken francese, though, because my mom got that and it was so delicious. We had a chocolate cheesecake to finish off, but it wasn't extremely impressive - it could have been a little richer and creamier. Overall I'd definitely recommend trying this place out. Well it was my first time going to the restaurant and it was a takeout order, while I did order a pasta dish, I wasn't expecting it to be $34.... nonetheless the girl told me "you probably thought you were ordering lunch"..... anyhow not some thing I would order again for a simple takeout dinner, it's way too much money! however the pasta was tasty, but my salad as you can see is very suspicious looking, with just a few leaves and some soggy carrots and cucumbers.... makes me very concerned asit almost appears as though they dumped someone else's food into the tin.... What a great find in the Watertown, CT area! The ambiance is lovely and food is fantastic! I went with my mom and fiancé to celebrate locking in another vendor for our wedding. I heard such great things about this restaurant especially from fellow yelpers. We shared a meatball appetizer which was their house made meatball made with veal pork and beef aka recipe for deliciousness! The meatball was covered in melted cheese and perfect to share for three people! My mom ordered the eggplant Parmesan which was amazing. She noted how thinly cut the slices of eggplant were and how rare that is to find at a restaurant! I ordered the chicken Parmesan and can say that it was one of the best I've ever had! I love chicken parm that is crispy and loaded with sauce and cheese and this was just that! I also have to note how incredibly fresh the chicken tasted. My fiancé ordered the Clam Fra Diavlo which was loaded with clams! My fiancé was so impressed by how many clams he received in his dish! Came here at the end of a day trip to CT for breweries. Needed something solid in my stomach after all the booze. ‍ The food was absolutely amazing!! We came in and were seated right away (though I'm not sure if this is typical because we are here during the coronavirus scare). Service was excellent. Details/extras were great (dish of parm to sprinkle on our food when it came out, oil and bread before your meal, etc). We ordered apps: calamari and the olives. Olives were amazing and seasoned awesome. Perfect amount for the two of us. Calamari was delicious and the marinara was hot and perfectly complimenting. My main meal was the Rigatoni with the sausage, but I got pomodoro sauce instead of vodka. It came out piping hot and the sausage was the perfect blend of sweet and seasoned. Husband got the Chicken Rollatini and whoa, the tomato butter sauce was epic. We were entirely too full to eat desert, but watched some strawberry cake thing walking by and thought "dang, next time!" Romas has very good Italian food I dined there previously However, I recently went there specifically for their Italian Chop Salad after seeing it advertised on their Instagram page. As soon as I seen it pop up on my feed, I knew what I was having for dinner...lol. The salad was composed of fresh greens, cubed salami, pepperoni, provolone, onions, olives, chickpeas, and gorgonzola with house vinaigrette. The salad was very good, but the portion was very small. It was the size of a small side salad. The size of the salad didn't align with the price. It was 14.00 before tax. I definitely would visit again. Their food is really good and they have great service. I stopped in to place my order prior to the kitchen opening and the bartender graciously took my order anyway so that it would be ready once they opened. The bar area seemed to have a Cheers like atmosphere where they receive regulars and everyone knows their name. read more

I heard the statement "this might be the best chicken parm I've ever had". Great portions. You won't leave hungry! Definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area. Amazing food, we had escarole and beans which was perfectly cooked, a delicious antipasto, a generous fresh salad came before our entrees, the chicken rollatini with pappardelle and chicken picatta were huge and delicious. Everything came out piping hot and service was impeccable. One tip, be sure to ask prices on the specials. This place is pricey ( we live in Boston and apps and entrees are priced the same or even higher that Boston prices which is surprising for Oakville). We asked what the price was on the veal chop and it was $80! Eek! We've been surprised before and learned our lesson to ask costs on specials and "market" price items. I booked Roma's for a milestone birthday party. We had 30 people and used the beautiful event space that they have--it was just right for our party. Their event coordinator, Heather, made things easy, answered all of my questions and accommodated special requests (buttered noodles with mini meatballs for our many young kids attending, for example). The food was absolutely delicious and the wait staff, Natalie and Christina, were amazing--the courses came out at just the right pace, any needs and requests were addressed with a warm smile and a caring spirit. I could not have been happier. Every detail was attended to, with ease and grace. An incredible pleasure, and our guests remarked on the experience as well.
