The amusement arcade is not a pleasant place, not an whole…read moredays fun in one like the advert says. The majority of the arcade machines go wrong when you put your money in them, the coins go missing or get stuck. Sometimes when you win eg £10.00, it might pay you 9 x £1 coins and 1 x 10p piece (so you are out of pocket) I can only imagine some of the staff who fill the machines mis-fill them. When the machines go wrong it is not easy to get help or assistance being the majority of staff spend most of the time standing outside the pier smoking. There is only 1 change desk open, if they are counting up, they close the desk and you have to go back when they have finished counting. The same desk also takes bookings for the crazy golf so you have to wait quite a while to be seen, so if the machine you are playing as gone wrong you have a long wait for assistance. When you finally see someone they say they will send someone along to fix the machine but you end up waiting ages, no apologies when they finally arrive. (Customer service skills are poor and too be honest always have been) Many of the machines reels are out of line so when you win they don't always payout and if you inform the staff they say the reels are out of synch, so you don't get your wiinnings or all the money you have put in them (not a fair system), only 1 winner them! The Monopoly machines top centre game reels are totally out of synch, so when you get the game you have no idea how much you are winning. The Double Decker party game machine very top centre game reels go wrong so the party ends early. The 2p & 10p pushers have hardly any prizes on them, and I have seen employees move items back that are close to the edge so players have to start from scratch which costs them more money (not fair at all). Many of the machines are dirty. I am not too sure if they ever clean them. Unlike some seaside arcades, the pier charges customers £1.75 to withdraw cash, even though you are spending the money in their business. I am surprised the owners let the staff get away with it, from what I see when on the pier it's the owners son doing the majority of the work. Whilst the staff are standing outside smoking they could be repairing machines or assisting customers and filling up empty change machines which are mostly empty on a daily basis. A lesson for the future, remember it's the customers who are are paying your wages, employees seem to forget that.

Unlike most coasters which are gravity driven (the car is lifted to the top of the first hill and gravity takes it round), Stealth is one of the few cable launched coasters (like the catapult on an aircraft carrier) in the country - it wasn't the first; that honour belongs to RITA:Queen of Speed in Alton Towers. Stealth is however the fastest coaster in the UK. You are launched from 0 to 80mph in under 2 seconds along a straight track. Then the car goes up vertically 205 feet, back down 205 feet, then over little bunny hill before coming to an abrupt stop. After what can be a long wait, the ride is over in around 10 seconds but let me assure you that 10 seconds is an amazing compressed adrenaline rush. The feeling of acceleration along the track is like having a wind powered face lift. In the vertical phase, you feel like you're in the space shuttle as it is launched. The drop sensation on the downward section is surprisingly muted and the abrupt stop brings hysterical laughter to a lot of riders, the sign of a good ride. It's one of the few rides I prefer to ride at the front but it's worthwile having that unobstructed view of the launch and rising phases. Also a top tip - use the single rider queue!! I'm not sure why they call it Stealth - the superstructure is visible from all around the park and the launch is nothing short of sensational!

Me and my friends were so scared to go on stealth the first time even though I have been on it before. We ended up going on it 6 times in one day. It was really nice when we could go in the pitch dark which was really scary as you couldn't see where you were going but then when you got to the top the whole park was lit up and the line of 20 minutes was totally worth the wait. Stealth will satisfy any thrill seeker and if you are scared of rollercoaster this is a great one to get rid of your fear of them as it does not go upside down!

Just a 30 minute drive from the centre of Southampton, the pier was easy to find and offered lots of convenient parking. There were two separate arcades in addition to other rides and attractions. Food options were plentiful and even included a large fruit stall which was lovely to see at the seaside where all food is usually accompanied by at least 10g of fat! The beach here is quite rocky, which is great for someone like me who doesn't like sand. We happened to arrive on a day during which America's Cup was taking place (international boat race) so the beach was pretty busy. However, we never struggled to find somewhere to sit / play / eat. One of the best things about this pier (for a two year old anyway) is that you can watch the Hovercraft take off and arrive from Isle of Wight. You can also catch the hovercraft from here or take a tour of the coast on one of the optional boat tours.

Sometimes you can see people fishing by the pier. There is a crazy golf course which for some reason (probably the big skull) reminds me of the goonies. It is a good course as you can choose one of two routes through it. That means if someone in front looks like they will take an age to complete each hole you can easily choose the other route. There is plenty of car parking nearby - all along the seafront, by the pub and some public car parks by the common. You'll probably still be stuck in the Summer though so your best bet might be to park in Old Portsmouth and walk along the seafront from the direction of Gunwharf. There is also a token based funfair next to the pier.

The farm houses a variety of animals including many orphans from neighbouring farms. There are opportunities to get up close with the animals and to feed and pet them. They are all well cared for. In terms of amusements this place beats the theme parks hands down for the under 10s. There are the usual farm rides that you'd expect although some come with twists (such as the ghost train). The barrel bug ride is about the most fun you could possibly have on a farm! More or less all of the activities come in a mini and big variety and so families are well catered for. You can bounce on giant air pillows or trampolines, slide down a helterskelter and bumpy slide, have a death slide, go skating, play golf, get lost in a maze or take a trip on a merry go round amongst others. Eating is no hassle here and food is reasonably priced and good quality. Loos are clean. There's an indoor soft play area and a great new ball shooting range for days that are not so dry! We love it here and the biggest endorsement is the fact that, after just one visit and despite living an hour away, we bought a season ticket!

During the weekend its super busy and the kids can only play for max 2 hours- thats why we like to go during week days. There is also a Cafe area for the adults with free Wi-Fi, toy shops, organic food, drinks, coffee etc. The staff is nice but they have a couple of ladies that remind me of witches and they look very bored with their lives. One of them can be quite rude sometimes. They organise birthday parties ( with different themes-dinosaurs, hello kitty etc) and they have all kinds of deals. The parties include meals and party bags. Other facilities include separate children's toilets, disabled toilets, baby changing room and pram park. They provide baby bouncers and high chairs. He loved playing in the under 5's ball filled play area and probably would have liked to been there all day if he had the choice. Parents can get in too and it is a lot of fun- just remember to wear your clean socks as you have to remove your shoes! It's is the ideal place for a birthday party as you dont have to think about the entertainment! After 45 minutes in the play area (more than enough for me!) the kids were taken upstairs for food and cake. The downstairs cafe sells organic drinks and snacks which is good if you dont fancy your kids going wild on a sugar rush. Bramleys is the perfect way to release your inner child and let your child play in a safe envirinment.
