It wasn't crowded when we went, which made it really easy to take our time and look around. There are a ton of cool and interesting stories and exhibits covering everything from the late 1800s all the way up to more current crimes and events. I was surprised by how much there was to see. We did the basic package with the family and, in my opinion, that was plenty. If you have younger kids, probably under 11 or 12, they may not get as much out of the museum until you get toward the end. There are some hands-on activities there, including half of a police car they can sit in and turn the lights on, drunk goggles, a police motorcycle you can sit on, and a tunnel where you can try to "escape" from jail. Overall, just a really cool place. I'm sure there was stuff I missed even after spending 2.5 hours there. I would definitely go back and do it again!

I was worried that there wouldn't be any new exhibits but I was surprised and happy to find the opposite to be true. They have definitely expanded and updated since my last visit. If you enjoy true crime and/or history this is a great spot to visit. On the crime side of things they have a wide range of crimes-not just serial killers or murder. (They do have a Ted Bundy VW beetle and 2 John Wayne Gacy clown costumes on display). They also have areas for financial crimes, etc. History wise they start off in medieval era, then the Wild West, mafia to present day. Nice exhibit on 911. Interactive exhibits too, like DUI and autopsy. Well worth the price of admission to me. Easily a couple hours of stuff to do. Especially nice on a rainy day!

Downtown Gatlinburg public art mural that is located on the popular parkway stretch…read more Nestled on ten main strip between two commercial Businesses this mural is a great photo op for tourists as it features the words Gatlinburg and the ever present bears of the city. Overall fun and nicely done mural that is a perfect representation of what you would think a Gatlinburg mural would want. Maybe the only thing missing is Dolly Parton riding the bear while eating a pancake from one of the many pancake houses In the city :)

It is unique to get into art center through the cover bridge. They have a lot small building for art classes. When we were there, there is a clay class is going on. The spinning of the clay try to take shape of the items they made. The main building host photographer class and exposition of the lunch cal artist. Not to many art pieces were display. The outside of the building does has larger pieces art sculpture on display. Some is interesting. The total visit is less than one hour. Since we did not take any art classes, cannot tell you much about the full center can offer. I think is worth a visit since you are there. But not for the set destination visit.

Probably the most popular public art photo op in the entire city. While exploring the crowded and popular strip there is always a line of people waiting to pose and take their memory and scrapbook photo ops. We were able to secure admission tickets via Viator, which meant we could use our Viator credits to buy tickets! Woohoo. The experience was informative, educational, but a bit underwhelming. We're glad the Cherokee people are able to maintain their history thru this museum, and we even brought home a souvenir from their gift shop. It's worth a visit if you happen to be in the area, and there's a burger restaurant down the road from the museum that serves delicious burgers with a view of the river!

Get Woke! This Wake sculpture was commissioned as part of…read morethe Mel Chin: All Over the Place exhibition that led to this artwork being displayed in Times Square. It's supposed to be animatronic and move or something, but I didn't see it doing any moving. Maybe Wake was sleeping? It kinda looks like the person at the helm of a ship, with the parts of the helm behind them. When we came, during Pandemic, the Wake person was wearing a mask, which was most appreciated. This giant work of public art is nestled in a triangular lot right next to Burial Brewery on the South Slope of Asheville's brewing district. It fits right in with all the cool, unique weird stuff going on in this neighborhood!

It was displayed in Times Square and has since been brought home and is on display in Asheville's South Slope. It's a beautiful piece designed to make a statement about climate change. It's 40 feet tall and the coolest part? It's animatronic! I highly recommend stopping by, visiting her and then hitting one (or three) of the brewers that are in the area. Have fun!!

This mural is part of the North Carolina Musician Mural Trail and was painted by the talented Scott Nurkin. This mural was the fourth in the series. The image for this mural was a 1969 photo taken by Jack Robinson. Flack got her start in gospel music but went on to embrace jazz, R&B, the blues, and pop. She graduated from high school at 15 years old and then attended Howard University before her debut album in 1969. She won four Grammy Awards. Besides being a great singer, she was a humanitarian as well and created the Roberta Flack School of Music for underprivileged students and the Roberta Flack Foundation for music education and protecting animals. If you are in Black Mountain, make sure to make a stop at the mural.

Red's cafe mural is a downtown Sevierville, Tennessee mural on the side of some commercial…read morebusinesses down the street from the court house and the famed Dolly Parton statue. I'm not sure the history of Red's cafe or even if it was a legit cafe. The mural paints a picture of a 50's/60's sofa fountain car hopper type establishment that you know probably serves burgers and coke floats. Overall the artist from the Smokey mountain mural company does a nice job. Gatlinburg and the surrounding cities like Sevierville have this nostalgic all American feel to them so this mural goes hand in hand with that vibe.
