But the hotel has new owners now - an enthusiastic young couple who are really keen to make this business great. The new rooms are awesome, but unfortunately I had to have an older room this stay so I can only review based on that. The $10 breakfast deal is excellent value. When all the rooms are rennovated, this hotel will be superb. The old rooms are really old, and even depressing in a way, but it is very clean and owners with this much enthusiasm should be supported.

My husband and I stayed five nights in…read morea one-bedroom unit in Yamba Quays - a new housing development a 4 km drive from the centre of Yamba, and a 1 km drive from the Yamba Fair complex with a Coles Supermarket. The unit had its own separate entrance and dedicated parking spot. There was a separate double bedroom with a walk-in robe next to a modern bathroom with 2 sinks and a walk-in shower. The combined kitchen/dining/living room area had a flat screen TV (and access to the property's Stan and Netflix accounts) and a very comfortable couch. The kitchen was very well-equipped with glassware, cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, fridge freezer, kettle, electric cooktop, microwave, oven, toaster, dishwasher and washing machine. We enjoyed sitting outside in a small private area. We really loved the feel of the apartment - it was new, bright, modern and well designed with high quality furnishings and fittings. Lisa is a great host and has added several thoughtful touches to this apartment - knives that are actually sharp, salt, pepper, aluminium foil, baking paper and cling wrap. This is a terrific option for a Yamba stay if you have your own wheels!

I was going to give this place a pretty bad mark considering that I literally got no sleep…read morewhatsoever due to the trucks pretty much roaring past all night, until I realised that not only that they don't charge an arm and a leg for you to stay here, but they also helped me out as well by looking after my bags while I went wandering around the town the next day (namely because the train didn't get there until about 5:00 pm). Considering that it is on the main highway between Sydney and Brisbane I shouldn't be all that surprised, so really, this is an okay place to stay for a night, but not really much longer.

The Pacific Hotel which sits just above Main Beach in Yamba is one of those country town gems that has the best local feel. There's a bar in the front and a bistro in the back with a main stage in the corner where bands from all around the Northern Rivers come on various days, check their website if coming to see some live music is your thing. Or if you're like me and just want to have a relaxing lunch overlooking the ocean grab a seat in the bistro. All the tables are by the giant glass windows which overlook the cliffs and beach. There's a great bistro menu with classic pub fare as well as fresh seafood from the area (oysters from Wooli and fish from Yamba). The food is great. I had the salt and pepper squid which was tender and fresh, Dad has a steak sandwich which was cooked perfectly on turkish bread (a nice light alternative if you want my opinion) and Mum had pork skewers (an entree but came out the size of a main). Topping off the food I had sticky date pudding for dessert which was the only thing that was a slightly let down. Great flavour but a little dry, thankfully there was plenty of butterscotch sauce and ice cream to remedy that. The fact that the food and service are great is just the tip of the iceberg with this pub. You really want to just come for the view. Any day it's going to be great, rain or sunshine.

The room felt more like a suite with a mini-kitchen with wine glasses and coffee mugs available. The linen was bright white with no visible stains or tears. Overall, the facilities were in pretty good condition. The only thing I didn't like was the bathroom has a step to get in, but the edge is sharp. So if you forget the step is there, you're at risk for cutting your foot open (which happened to one of us). They offer standard toiletries and it's a close walk to one of the best pubs in Yamba.
