I cannot say enough good things about Root catering. Kristin and her team are absolutely amazing! We booked them for our wedding and they made everything so easy. One of the main reasons we booked them was because they were the only catering company we could find that encorporated composting. This was a must need for our zero waste wedding but little did we know how great everything else would be. When planning, Kristin offered custom dishes which we immediately jumped on. She and her team replicated our favorite dish from the trip on which we got engaged and it came our delicious! This was such a special option that really set them apart from other caterers. Not to mention, our guests are still raving about how good the food was - some even said they were going to try and replicate it themselves because they enjoyed it that much. Also the bar service was impeccable! Ryan was so wonderful to work with. He helped us create the bar menu to fit all our parents request that still worked in our budget. We hired Root Catering for a private chef dinner for my sister's 50th Birthday! We were a group of 10 staying at a house on Keuka Lake. Matt and Tiffany were amazing!!! Kristin and her team are a dream. We were fortunate to use Root both for our rehearsal dinner and wedding (a huge undertaking) and they delivered each evening flawlessly. In the array of crazy wedding variables, they stood out as dependable, honest and delicious. The staff was gracious, attentive and upbeat throughout the events. Guests raved about how delectable the food was and how stunningly each dish was presented. We found out after the event that Kristin and her amazing team cleared our 275 person dining area SILENTLY and BY CANDLELIGHT as to not disrupt our ceremony a few feet above. My husband and I were married on August 31, 2019 at the Cracker Factory and chose to work with Root Catering based off of a referral from our venue. Working with Kristin and Heather was one of the best decisions that we made! Kristin was extremely accommodating throughout the entire process, even bringing us to the Kin event space so that my father, who is a quadriplegic, could be involved with the tasting. Several people commented that it was the best wedding meal that they had ever had and if I can recommend one appetizer, I'd say go for the chicken and waffles!! Our guests were practically chasing down the staff when they came out with the trays and Heather had a plate of them put aside for my husband and I since we missed most of happy hour. Heather communicated with me throughout the entire night to make sure that everything was up to par and made sure that we stayed on schedule. Kristin checked in with me constantly in the months leading up to the wedding and we felt completely at ease going into the wedding weekend. Wow!..the best way to describe my wife's and my reaction when Kristin showed up at our house with her mobile restaurant experience in tow. As a gift following the birth of our child, my mom sent us Kristin to fill our fridge with healthy, gourmet meals that we could easily pull out and prepare in a few minutes. Kristin exceeded our expectations for sure - wild salmon burgers, chicken sofrito, hangar steak, mushroom cassoulet to name just a few of the gems she left us. On top of that of course were amazing sides and salads that we ended up using as mini meals at times - stuffed chard, organic greens, homemade dressings, lemon pepper potatoes. Damn, I'm getting hungry recalling it all. I'm sure Kristin's services have tons of applications, but man, I can't think of a cooler gift for someone with a new kid or otherwise on house arrest and short on time to prepare good meals for themselves. We had an amazing experience working with Kristin and her team for our wedding at The Cracker Factory in Geneva, NY. They were super accommodating working with us as we planned from afar, including helping us address a few food allergies, and most importantly the food was all delicious (and we are very picky)! I used her service for a 50th birthday gathering. I ordered 2 appetizers, a side dish, and an entree for about 25 people. Total cost was over $700.00. She showed up on time, and delivered the dishes as requested. The food was good with the exception of a fingerling potato salad as the potatoes were undercooked and the salad was left un-eaten. I contacted her the next day, and she promised to provide a few home delivered meals to me in exchange. Never heard back from her. read more

Let me first admit that if Kristin wasn't already a friend of mine, her food would certainly drive me to become besties with her... if not, a downright stalker. I have been lucky to experience a few delicious meals with Kristin at her home and have always left wishing that she would move into my apartment and cook for me every day. In fact, I think I should just ask her to. On a professional note, Kristin delivered lunch to several of my coworkers a few months ago. For those of us who were lucky to get them, we were quickly made to share with those around us. Everyone wanted what we had in our personal Chef K2 lunch boxes. Chef K2's Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho is blissful perfection and should be on your must have list of foods to eat before you die. I am completely serious here folks. Kristin is creative, too organized for her own good, and impressive to watch in a kitchen. Root Catering did an all-around stellar job with our July 2018 wedding. We had 140 guests, and used Root for the dinner and our desserts. The owner, Kristin, is the epitome of professionalism, talent, and hard work. What we loved about Root is that collaborating with Kristin feels like you're working with a true chef, not just a caterer. The food and the ingredients come first, and she tackles the menu from a place of what matches your taste, what will be delicious that season, and what will be at its best given your venue and timeline. Her team's work is creative, classy, beautiful, and most importantly, absolutely delicious!! We are from Brooklyn, NY and had a lot of guests who were foodies with strong opinions. You would not believe how many people went out of their way to tell us how impressed they were with the meal. And the dessert? You MUST use their amazing new pastry chef!! My husband is gluten free which can sometimes mean a real bummer in the sweets department, but Root was able to make us the most amazing "Things in Jars" that I don't even think people knew were gluten free! : ) When you have fresh ingredients and a team that knows how to use them, you cannot go wrong. We are so thrilled with our first meal as husband and wife! In addition to the tremendous skill in the kitchen, Kristin is such a pleasure to work with. I can't say enough about the quality of food, the friendly service and organization of this catering company. They recently catered a cocktail party for my daughter's engagement party as well as her wedding. I understand it is very difficult to prepare delicious food for numbers of people but this company really performed! Guests at these functions remarked over and over again about how delicious the food was and how artistically it was presented. There is only one word to describe Kristin - and that is AMAZING. Kristin catered my 200 + person wedding at Sonnenberg Gardens this past Saturday. People were raving about the food (cocktail hour and dinner) and the service her waitstaff provided. This was not your typical wedding food - and our guests were well taken care of all night long.
