#Justice4Karl I wasn't going to leave a review on this place until I saw a Google Review shitting on the server Karl. Karl is one of the reasons me and my family have come back to Root'd because of the connection he has made with my children and the genuinely kind soul he is. While I can't speak for others, Karl has always provided us with an amazing serving experience and has really made us feel at home at Root'd, while the food is great, his service is what has always stood out to me here. Before other people go judging him on one shitty night he had they should realize that he is just trying his best and one bad night does not define Karl, because I have seen so much more out of him. Imagine if you judged everyone based on one night off their life? Doesn't seem very fair, does it. I have gone to Root'd long enough to know the consistency and value that Karl brings to this company, and I hope everyone else can realize that too. One of my favorite spots right by our house! The food is always fresh and delicious. My absolute favorite is the salmon quinoa bowl, I get it all the time and it never disappoints! I first tried this place at a Halloween Yelp event back in 2025. I've always wanted to return but it's out of my way a bit. However, I knew I HAD to return because the food, the vibe, the story - everything is so great here! My favorite dish here is the salmon quinoa entree. Such a healthy, filling, and nutritious meal. Super vibrant in colors too. Another thing I love here are their brussel sprouts. The best part about them is they are ROASTED, not fried. That makes a world of difference. Instead of the creamy chipotle aioli sauce that comes on top, I opted for the balsamic vinaigrette - much better choice in my opinion! Lighter, healthier, and yummier :) I will definitely return! OH they also allow dogs on their outside patio, which is fantastic. I will say, one of the server I had when I recently visited was ok. He was a young gentleman who practically threw my food down and walked away without saying a word. Not much hospitality there. read more

Atmosphere is inviting and relaxed. As soon as you walk in people are friendly and chatting with a warm cup of coffee. What a cute breakfast and coffee spot!We were greeted and seated promptly. Drip coffee was so good! We also got the Biscuits and Gravy (which came highly recommended by our server) and the Root'd Breakfast. It was all delicious! Loved the flavor and texture of the gravy! The service is good but the food and drinks are bad. We each got a latte, French toast tower and the burrito with potatoes. The lattes were some of the worst I've ever had, it is probably 99% milk and 1% espresso it looks like you're just drinking milk. The favor of the lattes were also awful. The French toast sticks taste so bad of fryer oil that we each took 1 bite and were instantly so sick. Our burritos came out and my friends French dip and again they were beyond mid and maybe took a bite or 2 due to being sick from the French toast sticks. Wouldn't recommend going here. read more

This is a locally owned restaurant and it's pretty good. This restaurant opened 6 weeks before the pandemic, had to shut down during covid and is now trying to garner support again. I got the steak and frites with broccolini, the steak was cooked to perfection at medium rare. I was so excited to try Root'd Cafe. Our table tried the Brussel sprouts appetizer and they were very good. The balsamic salad was good. I loved the pistachios and goat cheese on it. I chose the steak & frites. The steak was tender and flavorful and cooked perfectly. I loved the fries with garlic aioli. The broccolini was fine but it needed more seasoning in my opinion. The beignets were decent but wish they were a little more dense. I also wish they were served with chocolate dipping sauce instead of jam but still good. read more

Came to this place after reviewing their menu and finding myself craving some of the items. I showed up on a weekday, around 3pm, as the only other customers in the place were leaving. I'm so glad they were open, despite obviously being slow! There was one lovely waitress, and sounded like just one cook prepping and making the food at that time. I had the prickly pear tea-lemonade, which was gorgeous and tasty, and the beet tacos. I'm not a vegetarian but they were my favorite thing I ate during my time in Utah! So good, I would (and will!) go back to try many more items on their menu! read more

My friend and I were very impressed with the layout of the restaurant. They had outdoor seating and we took it knowing it is fall and we could get chilled. But we didn't mind. That is what hot tea is for. The patio we sat in had painted murals on the brick work. It was very nice. We ordered the roasted brussels sprouts to whet our appetite. We were pleasantly whetted. ;) I tell you, they put the best roast on those sprouts, they were perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and the crunch melt factor was spot on!! The portion of the appetizer was very generous but not overwhelming. I ordered the salmon with quinoa, and my bestie ordered the chicken over rice. From what I could see from our dining neighbors, the dishes at Root'd are down home, comfort food. (As they should be). Simple ingredients turned into audible happy "oh my gosh you gotta try this" comments, dancing chews in our mouths! The Salmon was perfectly cooked, the portion was very fair, with a generous helping of quinoa. The greens that were served as a complement to the meal enhanced the flavor that much more. I was served a half lemon that had been grilled to perfection. I have no problem eating a lemon peel especially when it has been grilled. The grilled lemon topped the salmon perfectly. My meal was so tasty, I ate it slow to savor all of the wonderful flavor. My bestie said the chicken was very good, not dry at all, the flavors were very savory, and the rice complemented the meal very well. She said the greens that were served with her meal also complemented the chicken very well. It also came with a roasted lemon and roasted tomatoes. She said it was very delicious. We selected the ever-famous Beignets for dessert. The were rolled thin, fried to fluffy perfection, topped with confectioners' sugar and served with raspberry sauce on the side. It was getting chilly now, the server, Emily, who was very effervescent, happy, friendly and helpful brought me a hot cup of chamomile tea. She was very nice, she spoke to everyone whom she encountered. She was very sweet and attentive. I believe a person who works hard serving a customer, deserves a generous tip. She was helpful with her co-workers and their customers. I base my tipping on those factors. She brought out a cup of hot tea. That first sip of the heated water cascaded down my throat and into my tummy and filled me with a warmth that I did not expect. It was a very soothing cup of tea. One I will make my way back to Root'd for, and a repeat of our wonderful dinner out. We plan to dine inside next time. Plus we will take our honey bunches and we plan to order completely different entrees as this time. read more

I am a regular there, the food is incredible and it is walking distance from my house. The service is not great though. The past three times I've gone there has been issues. I had a bread tag tucked in my avocado toast and my friend had a crusty dried tortilla piece that was not supposed to be in his food. We went there on a Sunday and were told 20-30 min wait, we waited an hour and then got sat. We then waited 30 minutes and no one came to use despite make eye contact multiple times with the staff. Tables were cleaned, seated, and served while we were waiting to even get water. So we left. This is a great place and the food is yummy so I really hope this review helps to improve the service and cleanliness! read more

We came here on a Sunday morning around 9:30am and got a table right away. I've been here a handful of times and have always had to wait a little while, but if you come before 10:30am you can be seated pretty quickly. Just note - they cannot serve alcohol until after 10:30am. They have a bunch of inside seating and they also have patio seating, in the winter it's covered patio seating and warm. Colton was our server this Sunday and was so lovely! He was wonderful! The service I've had here has always been great. We started with the beignets, of course. They come with a berry jam and you can pay $2 extra for chocolate (I think that's new? I don't remember paying extra for chocolate fondue before). They're wonderful, and the jam they come with is delicious. They come in an order of 5. I got their avocado toast and a side of hash browns. The avocado toast is okay, it's nothing super special. It comes with two pieces of toast topped with avocado slides, tomato, salt, microgreens, olive oils, and you can get balsamic on top or on the side. The hashbrowns were pretty good. You can get them topped with cheese or cheese and bacon, and I got the cheese topped hashbrowns. I was picturing actual cheese, but it came with more of a nacho cheesy sauce that I didn't particularly love. I probably wouldn't order them with the cheese again. A really cute breakfast spot with a great menu. Parking is limited, and they do get busy on the weekends. Definitely worth checking out! read more

We ordered breakfast online and it was super easy. Our order was ready ahead of time so someone called us to let us know (nice touch). The portions are amazingly big and the hash browns are shredded and the burrito was so big we couldn't finish it. My personal favorite was the avocado toast. So good and plentiful. This is such a sweet restaurant. It's converted from a 7-11 but is adorable and it's fun they have a huge fridge. We started with an appetizer of deviled eggs which had the cutest little pickles on them and were very yummy. The salad had avocado and goat cheese which were nice additions. The steak was a bit chewy but also very pink. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had great seasonings. They make their sauces in house and I really enjoyed the garlic sauce they put on the fries. Great breakfast/brunch place. The beignets are the star of the show. We heard locals talking about them in ski line. Served with homemade fresh fruit compote. The garlic fries are not on the menu but ate a must try. The French toast towers were pretty good. Something seemed off with the deviled eggs.... Like someone forgot to season them. They were completely bland. The appetizers were so good we went back a few days later to try the food. The drinks were also excellent. A little on the sweeter side but still really good. The matcha espresso drink was so good. Iced or hot. Both good. Drinks and all appetizers excluding the deviled eggs were 5 stars. The food was 4 stars. Tried the huevos rancheros, eggs Benedict, nova lox toast, and the burger. I rounded up to 5 stars because the service was excellent. read more

We stopped in for brunch while in the area. Wheelchair accessible entrance to the side. We opted to sit outside and honestly enjoy the gorgeous views of the mountains. Our server was great. Quick and efficient. Even letting me know what they were running low on just in case. My spouse ordered fried pickles and he loved them. Also he got a breakfast Sandwich and kept saying how tasty it was. I ordered the spinach avocado Benedict. Honestly it didn't hit the mark for me. It got soggy from the spinach. Also pretty sure they use the vinegar method for poaching eggs, for me and this is a total personal preference I just don't like it. I feel like the vinegar taste lingers. I also ordered my hash browns crispy and they were not. However the hash browns are fresh and were still delicious. We also tried some coffee and tea. Early gray tea with lavender was yummy. Would definitely get that again. So although my food was a let down I think I truly just ordered the wrong thing. My spouse could not say enough positive things about his food. Nice cozy breakfast spot on the east side of Sandy. Great coffee/latte menu. It's a smaller breakfast menu, which isn't a bad thing. I tend to lean towards eggs Benedict's and there's is good. Cute local spot that isn't a chain or scream loud like some try hard spots in town. I wouldn't say the food is amazing, but I can't say there's very many breakfast places for me that do. read more

This was our first stop on our self-guided food tour through SLC. The place itself was cute and conveniently located off of the main road with some parking. I was a little bit disappointed with the mac & cheese which was lacking in leaks, the ingredient I was most looking forward to. And the beignets were just okay, nothing spectacular. The matcha espresso drink was really good, but the Earl Gray one not so much; it tasted like one of those tea bags but very artificially flavored. read more
