I flew into Springfield after being up since 2:30 AM in California. It was a long travel day, and the first thing I saw was a Starbucks--along with a line of about 30 people. No thanks. I turned to my left and spotted a small local coffee shop, so I walked in, and I'm so glad I did. It was adorable inside, the coffee was delicious, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. ROOTS is one of my top five Springfield places to eat. Just a simple little coffee shop, but with a lot of heart and really great food. They had me at pimento cheese! I love to order the pimento grilled cheese and add an egg and bacon. Top-tier! I recently tried their burger and added pimento cheese and bacon, of course, and it was delicious as well. I can't remember all of the teas and lattes I have tried here, but I can tell you that I've never had a bad one ...they don't make them fancy, but they do make them very tasty! This is a fantastic breakfast sandwich spot that my family really enjoys. I don't even live in Springfield and I consider myself a regular. I have friends that live here that have bought me gift cards and I always use them up! LOL! read more

Wow! The place is huge and the atmosphere is very warm and inviting. I got a hazelnut latte with oatmilk and an extra shot which is something I get at just about every coffee shop as a baseline. The coffee is smooth and the roast is just dark enough to richen the flavor. I got the got breakfast sandwich with fried chicken and bacon. Probably the best breakfast sandwich I've gotten, seriously. Super friendly staff as well! As someone who travels around the country, this place is a top 5 for me. Highly recommend! read more

Hard to imagine how Roots is so highly reviewed. My experience was 2star at best. Coffee plain Starbucks much better across the street. Breakfast food small portions....tiny amount of pulled pork. I should have taken a picture. Way undercooked eggs with clear whites. $14 with tax and tip? Biscuit was good but tiny. Can't keep up with the "endless drip coffee" at a coffee place.....long waits for the next jug. I think they're trying but they are failing. Won't be coming back says it all. read more

Went to Roots with family while visiting Springfield. I wanted a good cup of coffee and after scanning the landscape this looked like a local gem. The inside has ample seating and a pretty artistic and clean design. It seems more cafe than true coffee shop that has a good menu and a wine and beer on tap. The coffee and specifically the beans are how I gauge a coffee shop and while I wasn't disappointed I had hoped for more of an artisan pour over experience. The mixed drinks were good in fact better than the coffee and the place seemed like it would be great for a long visit with a friend. read more

Relaxed and fun atmosphere. You can buy the kitchen staff a shot for $2 but we showed mercy and didn't do that to them at 10am on a Sunday Good selection of cocktails, coffees and breakfast foods. We got the mini donuts with cookie butter, breakfast burrito with pulled pork, a honey latte and a vanilla latte. The burrito was bigger than expected and I'm glad we only got one to share since neither me or my fiancé were overly hungry. Everything we tried was very good and the service was quick! I would give it a solid 3 stars. Great coffee, staff was very pleasant and friendly, establishment was clean, food was okay, music selection for 8am was too upbeat for me. I would've liked more of a relaxed atmosphere with softer music, if any at all, before I've had my morning coffee. I'm not really a tot person for breakfast and that was the choice for potatoes other than sweet potatoes.
