A pop-up nursery with plants grown exclusively in Montana -- at least that's what they advertise…read more What makes High Country Growers a little different than the standalone nurseries, is that they set up in early spring in one of the far reaches of the mall parking lot, next to the donut shop, and are tearing down the chain-link fence and moving on by early July. Once they're gone, they leave no indication there was ever a shop here. For all of that, this stop certainly takes the fun out of searching for flowering plants. Why? Because it's all here and there's no need to go from place to place. Except that I enjoy going from place to place and finding something that may not be available elsewhere. With that said, though, because these are all Montana-grown plants, I do like to support this place and it's easy because they do have an wonderful selection. The plants in the tents around the perimeter are sorted by flowering, bushes. sun, shade. and there are succulents and organic herbs also available. There seems to be one person, who is the answer-person for all questions about the plants -- at least early in the season while everyone else is still getting trained. She asks the right questions when I have a question and she hasn't steered me wrong, yet. Next spring, if you're in the area, stop by to visit High Country Growers, you'll probably be surprised at the interesting things you'll find.

An incredible selection of plants, trees, bushes -- flowering or not -- are available at this…read morenursery. What I noticed first was how this nursery is a plants-only nursery. There were no rows and rows of pots, or potting soil as found at many places. Of course, that might be because they sold out -- I don't know -- but I didn't miss them. There were too many gorgeous, well-cared for plants available in this large setting. Nearly everything has a label with growing tips, planting/blooming zone and noting the level of required sunshine. Despite the low inventory, likely owing to those forced to stay home deciding to do some therapeutic gardening, there was still plenty to see. Some large sections both in the greenhouse and out in the yard were roped off and labeled as "sold", but in the search for something exactly like I saw in one of those areas, a member of the helpful staff walked me over to where I could find what I needed. There were still many perennials, although either just hitting their bloom or just past it, but still with enough color sprinkled amongst the green shrubs. I was particularly taken by the pine tree, with its purple budding cones. It was a striking contrast. And the pond with the waterfall, highlighting some low shrubs also available here, almost made this a park -- but without the tables and benches. The large section off to the side behind the pond, had neatly labeled rows of trees that will, one day, be ready for sale. They make it really easy, here. It's no pressure, but when you need help, they're around to offer advice.

Since we had never used the protection we went in today to see what our options were in terms of reclaiming the $120 we spent on the plan. Right off the bat they told us it had been 6 years. They made it sound like we should have been in there right after the plan expired. We were told they would honor the plan (reluctantly) but we had to make a minimum $500 purchase. Even though there were several people at their service counter, no one was real eager to help us. One guy said he would be with us after he finished with the customer he was working with. After wandering around the store a couple of times he finally came and helped us. We asked about manual recliners because all we seemed to see were powered recliners. He showed us a couple and was rather pushy about them. None of them really caught our eye. We asked about fabric options because what we saw really didn't catch our attention. We got the strong sense that that question annoyed him. In the end we left frustrated and unimpressed. I guess these guys get $120 in free money because after today I refuse to give them another dime if I can help it. There are other furniture stores in Billings that have better sales staff. Bottom line, I wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone. We have had some positive experiences with them in the past with some bedroom furniture. Unfortunately the sales person that helped us with those purchases has moved on.

I bought a mechanical Flexsteel recliner with lumbar support, sat in it for two days, and raced back to the store to buy the reclining loveseat and end tables. Went BACK and bought more tables and hallway furniture. High quality! The Flexsteel support is superior to anything I've ever purchased (back doesn't hurt anymore). Staff was so helpful from the multiple purchases all the way to the warehouse pickups (we didn't choose delivery). Our Sales Associate Keith Walker was an exceptional help for us, and Rachel called to walk through the entire order with us to make sure our pickup went smooth (since we went back 3 times). Overall, I am 100% satisfied in the quality and customer service -- and have officially transferred my furniture loyalty over to Conlins.
