We were camping at Clear Lake State Park and didn't realize that nearby Lake County and Kelseyville had an abundance of wineries, some within 15 minutes of the park entrance. We camped during the week and naturally there were very few tasting rooms open. When we were tasting at Mt. Konocti Winery, the awesome ladies there called the owner of Rosa d'Ora to see if he was open and/or willing to let us come by and taste his wines. He immediately told us to come around - what great customer service. We drove over to Rosa d'Ora, this place is about 14 acres of grape and some olive trees. There is plenty of parking and it is a rustic place but charming. The place is not easy to find, the map tended to take me somewhere else but once you take the exit, it is right as you turn off the freeway. The owner came out to meet us and took us, not into the main tasting room, but into his office where he poured us whatever he had open. Since my friend and I are both are not red wine drinkers, we tasted a couple of sparkling wines and 2 chardonnay's. The second chardonnay was very different, hard to describe but good enough that my friend bought a bottle. The owner is an older gentleman who just enjoys the slow paced life and growing wine and olive oil. We didn't taste any olive oil but he talked about why he started the winery, how big it was, who helps him (his son) etc. It was a very enjoyable 1/2 our and he didn't even charge us for the tasting. Not sure how much a tasting would be normally but around Kelseyville, they tend to be around $15, which is waived if you buy a bottle. The service was fantastic, the weather cooperated and the conversation and wine were fabulous. I would highly recommend this hidden gem!! read more

We went to Clear Lake in a family vacation for New Years Eve. We decided to go wine tasting and we ended up at Rosa d'Oro winery. It was the best wine tasting experience I've ever had. Nick was so personable. We talked about the wine making experience and how Rosa d'Oro came to be, family. To top it off the wine is amazing. The Chardonnay is superb and I'm not a white wine type of person. I prefer reds. All the red we had were so delicious. My husband and I ended up purchasing a case of wine. Since we enjoyed the wine so much we decided to stop by on our way home (8 hour drive) to purchase another case of wine. Thanks Nick for such a great experience and for making such delicious wine. We had an absolutely wonderful experience. The place looked deserted, but there was a number on the door to call and we had service a minute later. Every one of the wines was to my taste, with plenty of fruit and soft tannins. We bought a mixed case. The gentleman pouring gave excellent conversation and answered all our questions thoroughly. On a girls weekend in Kelseyville, we stumbled across Rosa d'Oro. Our last stop of that day, we spent several hours with Nick (the owner), learning about his family history, the grapes that he has imported to his property, and why he does what he does. We were pampered and enjoyed the personal visit. The wines were fabulous, and the best of the 5 wineries we visited that weekend. I will most definitely bring more people to meet Nick, and stop in to replenish my cellar. read more

We liked the wines here, but didn't buy much because the service was sub-par, bordering on rude. The server seemed to be very negative in her conversation, making many negative references to her brother - and the followed up her statements many times by saying "I can say that because he's my brother". Of the 8 wineries we visited on our trip to the Clear Lake area, she poured the least generous portions, leaving us wondering if we really liked the wine enough to buy or not. Not to mention that she stood directly in front of us watching us taste and immediately asked if we liked it, giving us no time to talk amongst ourselves or to even taste the small sample that we received. 3-4 stars for the wine, 1-2 stars for the service. read more

Excellent wine! Fabulous Italian varietals, very high quality, great family. Totally wort the visit for any red wine lover.

My husband and I were out getting pizza with our kids in Kelseyville. We had about 30 minutes to kill before the pizza was ready and wanted to do a small wine tasting. When we entered the tasting room the owner was very stand offish. We sat down at the bar and our kids sat at a table, quietly and politely. The owner gave us a glass and a wine list. We have never been to a winery that did not allow kids. He gave us a 3rd degree lecture about parenting and was insinuating that we were irresponsible parents for even walking in there. Tasting a couple wines is no different then having a drink at lunch or dinner while in the presence of children. He was flat out rude and we will never go back. If he simply told us that he did not allow children in the tasting room, we would have been much more understanding. read more

Cute little tasting room nestled on a corner on Main Street. The building itself was an old bank, albeit, a very small bank. The old vault is now used as a room holding various wine accompaniments like wine boxes, corkscrews, pourers, various bottled vinegars, etc. The wine itself? well....not exactly my fav wine around. The first taste was a white table wine. That's right, a white table wine, a variety you could easily find in a box somewhere in Safeway - and...it was cloudy looking. Some of their reds were good, but still, not what I would go for. We purchased a bottle of the best of the reds I tasted. Also came away with a blueberry balsamic vinegar I can't wait to have on a salad. The owner was very nice as was his daughter who was pouring - very pleasant folks. Overall, I have had better, but, would still go back. Maybe I will get another vinegar variety, one could never have enough vinegar varieties when tossing a salad. Ya feel me? read more

If you could give 10 Stars I would! I can't say enough wonderful things about Rosa d'Oro. Their wines are fantastic, they're all Italian varietals that aren't common and taste wonderful! The owner Nick is beyond friendly and so knowledgeable and fun to talk to and his son Paul was as well. I have been tasting with them twice, once when they were downtown and once now they they are at their home/vineyard and both were great. I can't wait to visit again and bring more people!! read more

First, many thanks to Livia & her sis @rosadorowine for a fun & tasty wine tasting. It's been hot up here in the North Bay wine country - blazing - and late day Saturday the husband and I decided to get out of the A/C and go on the hunt for local rose wines (don't know how to get the symbol over the "e" to spell it properly). Anyway! Rosa D'Oro indeed does a delicious rose, as well as a Muscat that CAN'T be had at Safeway (although it is true that the Muscat varietal is poorly represented in great bulk at that well-appreciated grocery retailer). The Muscat tastes LIKE Muscat - something that might be lost on anyone who has never had a "real" one. We had zero difficulty buying a case of wine that included the delicious Muscat, some roses and some of the interesting Italian red varietals this family is producing. This is a tastefully put together tasting room, not on-site at the winery. It is a great place to come on a hot afternoon and buy a bottle, sip, sit and enjoy. To really appreciate the red wines - all of whom are being sold young as has to happen at wineries in order to make room for upcoming vintages, and is also a testimony to a winery being able to sell-through their wines - know that these delicious wines will improve over time or with decanting and approach them knowing this. A good decanting of a young red wine plus some nice cheese to go with it works miracles. Try it! Rosa d'Oro is one of the two best reasons (Chacewater being the other) to visit downtown Kelseyville. The guy at the counter who was pouring wine was rude and unprofessional. I think he might have been having a bad day. Sadly, I didn't stay long enough to try their wine. Hopefully, they will replace him. I'd love give this place another try although I'm hesitant to go in there again. read more

I love their wines which are a great representation of some excellent Italian varietals. The Nebbiolo Rosato is refreshing and redolent of summer. The Barbera is balanced and perfect! They even produced an Aglianico. Needless to say, I'll be back soon. read more

Tasting salon felt more like a bar. The woman pouring samples was very proud of her family and the wines they are making. The wines were okay - not my style. Weird that all the staff everywhere in this region expected to be tipped. The wines were all very young, too. read more

They produce decent wines and do a good job considering they grow italian varietals. None of the wines really blew me away but the price point was very affordable. What did blow me away was the fantastic service. The owner's youngest daughter was pouring us wines and made our experience very memorable. I've been enjoying wine and food at Rosa D'Oro Winery for the last year in Lake County. I've enjoyed meeting Livia, Pietro, Nick and Chris in the tasting room. I love the Rosato in the summer and I reach for the Barbera all year round. The tasting room is in a vintage bank building...the vault holds a boutique...charming. The tasting room and the wine are part of a pretty great small town visit. Stroll the couple of blocks of Main Street to visit the bakery, a coffee shop, antique shop, art supplies store, gift shop, restaurants and a brewery. I'm happy to support their growth as a family business in my community. I think it's exciting that they are using Kickstarter to raise money for a new and improved kitchen. Located in downtown Keyseville, this winery has some great deals on decent wines. They focus on very drinkable Italian wines which is sure to please most people. A representative of this company refused to sell me a glass of wine based on my ethnicity. I had a white friend in line just prior to me who was not asked for ID, and yet i was carded just 20 seconds later. When pressed, I was told I just look young. I am thirty (7 years older than my white friend) and have a full beard. read more
