We found this place a block from our hotel after desperately searching for a place that took cards. When I ran into Rosario, he replied "Si, si, no problem!" in typical Italian flair. When I asked again if he had space for 9 for dinner that night, "no problem! Absolutely!". When that changed to 12, and then down to 7, "Assolutamente!".
Our group of 7 came in not knowing what to expect. Rosario welcomed us in bombastically to his restaurant. There weren't enough English menus to go around, but between the Italian and German I was able to piece out what I wanted.
I ordered pasta with fruta di mare (shellfish), and it was amazing. All of the different flavors combining in a way I didn't think possible. Let alone everything else - beautiful bread, wonderful olive oil (brought up by Rosario himself from Calabria, he claims). Even then, I regret my choice a bit, because there were so many other things on the menu that were even better! 2 of the people at the table ordered one of the specials - an entire fish served on a small grill and filleted in front of you right on the spot!
Altogether, this is one of the best experiences I've ever had in an Italian restaurant. I cannot recommend a better place in Wilmersdorf. read more
