I was unsure what that meant at the time of booking. No, Kyle Chalmers was not there when I arrived the first night. I arrived about 12:30 a.m., the ferry landed at Uig around 11 p.m. and I was part of a continuous stream of cars making their way inland, be it to an Isle of Skye destination or something further east. I had put in the late arrival time for the first night when I made the reservation, though was still gently scolded at check-in for it being past the normal hours of desk operation when I arrived. Thankfully, I was not turned away and the desk worker did remind me to be careful driving at night. I later learned someone from the same batch of drivers had driven off the road that night and died. Turned out, the two bookings meant I had to move my things out of the first room after the first night and checkout before checking in again the second day and getting a different room. Both rooms were cozy and the beds were comfortable. Each was equipped with a small bathroom. The curtains could be closed, which I found I needed when I slept as it would get light around 4 a.m. and dusk did not fall until about 11 p.m. or a little later. The breakfasts were delicious each morning. I had a full breakfast and found it to be hearty morning adventure fuel. Workers all around were kind and friendly in their interactions.

Due to inclement weather and construction delays, we didn't arrive until 9:45 pm, but still received a very warm welcome. The receptionist gave us a quick tour of the ground floor - breakfast spot, where to get a drink, wifi info, and a better parking spot, and then walked us up to our second floor room to be sure everything was all set. 2. Breakfast. It's tasty and there are quite a few options available. Hours were 8-10 while we were there late March 2015. 3. Room comfort: the room and bathroom felt nice and updated, and was very comfortable. The only minor complaints were that the wifi didn't seem to reach our room so we could only use it in the lobby, and there weren't a lot of shelves in the bathroom or large places in the bedroom to place suitcases. But those were pretty minor since our overall experience was extremely lovely.

In order to keep it as new, the manager welcomes you with a lot of rules. In addition to a surveillance camera that reacts with a motion detector - i.e. is always switched on - you are filmed every time you enter and exit the main door the main . The rooms are tiny and low. The two attic rooms are not recommended for people taller than 165 cm. In addition, it is extremely warm in the upper rooms, which was mentioned as a precautionary measure and is to be accepted. You are not allowed to wear shoes in the house, you cannot eat anything warm in your room, the breakfast offer is extremely limited and you are watched by the manager while you are having breakfast, which creates an extremely unpleasant atmosphere. Smoking is only allowed in the parking lot opposite. There was no hot water the first night but was then fixed. So unfortunately a disappointment.

I stayed two nights and was very happy with the room, service and options. No meals available (covid rule, not their normal business) - but there are plenty of options within walking distance. I had breakfast a Relish x 2 (it was delicious) You are 5 mins walk to the center of town - which was why i picked this location. There is a grocery store about 3 mins walk down the road. Plenty of places in town to eat but make your reservation for dinner (WEEKS) before you travel. there is no "walk-in" during covid -- even though window signs say it is okay - it just doesn't work. . And we did - The Old Police House! It is a charming little blue home with a small "Old Police House" sign attached by the front door. After inquiring about a room and learning of its availability we were led upstairs to our bedroom and en-suite. (As it turns out this little Inn only has one room available to rent, so once that room is booked there is no more to go around.) The room itself was more than satisfactory and had a comfortable Queen sized bed with plenty of magazines, books, and local menus available. There was a window which fully opened and overlooks the river and allows for a nice cool breeze if you enjoy that. There was also a personal heater within the room. The room also provides you with ample closet space and a luggage stand. The en-suite was spacious and very clean with a walk-in shower, toilet and sink/mirror combination. Breakfast was included in the tariff and was super delicious and made by the lady of the home. The night prior you will be asked at what time you'd prefer your meal served and the next morning you'll dine in the private living room. All-in-all way more than we expected and could hope for. Privacy, cleanliness, a comfortable bed and a wonderful host.

I was staying with my mother at the only twin room. That room is sharing a bathroom outside the room with another guest room. There was only one funny smell when entering the room, not sure why, and forgot to mention to the owner. The breakfast was really good!! Served porridge ourselves from a slow-cooker that was available in the dining area, keeping it warm for everyone. Glass jars for water with ice, juice served in glass jars, good strong coffee. Neither me or my mother are big fans of the black pudding, but the one they had was so tasty. I loved the sun rising on top of the hill opposite of the guest house - some warm before the hail that followed that day! Would I go back? Yes, to try one of the other rooms though!
