We even got a free upgrade - bonus! The staff were friendly and helpful. The room had everything expected and it was clean and in good condition. The location is just off the Rye main shops and the super market is about a kilometer away. Rye beach and the pier are on the other side of the highway (a few hundred metres). The best feature had to be the outdoor heated pool and spa. It was warm enough to go straight in - even on a mild spring day. Something to watch finding it is that Napier street is closed at the Nepean Highway end (so there is no through traffic, which keeps the noise down). But if you don't know this you could drive passed it several times - like we did. You have to come in via Nelson st.

The set out and decor is not unpleasant but it does feel a bit dated. I had the feeling it should be doing better business here than it was. I liked the look of the bistro and propped there. I was going to order the Mussels Delmar - I love my mussels - but then saw the bouillabaisse listed as a special. Going by the board the dish promised all sorts of extra seafood for an extra $5. I got brave and ordered it. Knock me down if the dish wasn't really really good. We might be looking here at a chef who's a bit bored with pub bistro staples and wants to stretch a bit to the classics. I've had bouillabaisse in numerous places around the globe including in the country of origin and I'd have to say this one was in the top half maybe even the top third. The flavours were lovely and it was evident the dish had been prepared and cooked with some care. Importantly, the promise about the abundance of seafood was very real. The dish absolutely abounded with fish, prawns, mussels and other goodies and was good value for the price. It's a generous dish without doubt and it's well worth seeking out. I was very glad I ordered it. This is not a high brow place but who cares. If the key test is good food, I certainly got that tonight. The place itself is fine as is the service. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again going on this experience.

Okay, there were some nice beers available on tap, which was cool, but it was located in a part of the town where the tourists don't tend to end up. However, as a pub it isn't too bad, and was quite relaxing, though since it is more modern in appearance I can't say that it had too much charm. Still, as a pub it was quite nice and relaxing, and the staff were rather friendly as well.

If you are visiting Melbourne, the Penguin Parade is a must! We booked the guided tour and had such…read morea wonderful time learning about the little penguins and getting to see them up close on the beach as they came in at sunset. You are given binoculars, a headset, a seat cushion and a beverage. There were hundreds of little penguins that came up in 5-6 groups as they headed their way up on the beach into the rocks to go back to their homes. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take any photographs or video, but the experience of just seeing them was unbelievable. They are so cute!

Our visit to Phillip Island and participation at the Penguin Parade was one of our top experiences…read more(as a family of 5; 2 adults and 3 children (ages 13, 12 and 9)) during our entire vacation over several weeks to Australia. It is well worth the visit...but be prepared for crowds and sitting in the cold...and definitely pay the extra for the private seating area and VIP options. Lots to do and see all around the Phillip Island. Highlight of all of it was certainly the Penguin Parade at sunset. Get there around 730pm, and be prepared to head to your seats around 8pm, although the penguins don't tend to emerge from the water until about just after 9pm. However, when they emerge, the emerge adorably and by the hundreds/thousands! In total we must have viewed close to a couple thousand penguins coming out of the water and making their slow, waddling way up the hill (climbing often for more than a mile or more). They came out of surf after feeding at sea. They are Little Penguins (smallest of all penguins, around 12 inches in height). The "Parade" then goes on for over an hour, as thousands waddle up trails to find their burrows - you can see them at very close range, no more than a couple meters away. We loved it and our kids loved it and found it to be one of the best animal viewings they ever experienced! Truly an all around fantastic evening - and great rangers who talk and provide additional details. I recommend this to everyone. Be aware that you should prepare for large crowds and be sure to come prepared with warm clothing.

A beautiful resort set in-between a few golf courses lots of grass and greenery?!? Yes please…read more This beautiful resort is set in Fingal, not too far away from the Peninsula Hot Springs and consists of multiple buildings that create the most relaxing atmosphere you ever could ask for. The view from the balconies is absolutely gorgeous with some rooms overlooking a golf course that sees the sunset in all it's glory. There's a golfing pro-shop located in the main reception building where you can rent golf carts, clubs, an instructor, and buy whatever golfing equipment your heart desires. Not interested in golfing? There's a beautiful path you can follow to walk through the golf course as well as an Endota Spa located on the premises. There's also a lovely bar and a restaurant with amazing food located in the main reception as well. The rooms are the bare essentials with a split system heater located on the wall, a beautiful patio to be able to watch the golf course with a nice metal bench and table to place a glass of bubbly or your beer to relax with. The bathroom area is a bit low on light when it's dark outside so they could use improvement on that, I do need light to apply makeup! The smoke detector is right directly above the bed which makes it a bit annoying when you're trying to sleep with the red light on a constant another light blinking off and on, but all in all, the resort is amazing. I forgot to mention, the staff is AMAZING! Even after we checked out they went to their fullest possible extent to ensure we were taken care of. Some of the stuff aren't the sharpest tools in the shed but I suppose you need a bit of everything to make a business work! If you're in the area and need a place to stay, this resort is ghighly recommended.

Restaurant charges a small fortune for very ordinary food. Better off eating at the bar next door.read more
