I found this mass very reverent. It is the oldest church in Nashville and there pews are the old fashioned kind but they have added kneelers. Because it is downtown they do have a security officer at the back of the church before, during and after the service. It is a very peaceful and beautiful old church. This is not a prayer for an individual ritual or occasion when the attendee pays the asked fee, it's One prayer n process that is held for Maha Shivratri for all Shiva devotees in a common group setting. First the organizers split the prayer hall in two parts and told us that only people who would pay $125 can sit in the part close to the deities so some of us moved to the other side to sit and do our own chanting and prayers. Then the organizers told us to exit the prayer hall at 6:00 pm completely, so no one who don't want to pay $125 is allowed to be in the temple prayer hall at all on this Great Maha Shivratri occasion! I was Speechless because I personally was excited for this day but even more disheartened too see how they treated everyone especially all the ladies who were wearing nice Saris and were dressed up for this occasion. This is completely unacceptable. I've lived in many states and big cities and being a Hindu I've been to Hindu temples many times. I've been to this temple on Saturday evenings many times. I find the people at the front desk office and in the temple very nice and polite, they even give a free mask to anyone who forgets to bring their own but these special group of organizers on this pious day were straight out of Wall street! It definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and reminded me of the movie PK which is sad but appropriately applicable to this situation. I never thought I would write a yelp review for a Hindu temple! Now I get why people still don't want to go in person and prefer attending virtual prayers. ps- This review only applies to the special organizers for yesterday's Maha Shivratri puja and not to the Temple and it's regular staff

When volunteering at "The Big Table" I overheard a couple on leadership say, "who is that" instead of introducing themselves and welcoming me. They help homeless people on a weekly basis but not someone who has been attending for months. Christ Jesus and the Scripture I read would not reject, betray, judge nor view disabled seniors as outcasts. Distant friends from another state are completely flabbergasted at the lack of assistance and acceptance Journey has provided to a child of God.

Since my return, I have come to many Sunday services (rather in person or online) and come to a few of the events hosted outside of a typical Sunday. The things I enjoy about coming to this church are the following: 1. There is a great community formed here that is supportive internally and externally to all people as well as their animals! -members of the church sharing prayer requests and joys on Sundays. Some of the testimonies people share during this time Is filled with many emotions from grief or something truly remarkable they did that week. Ultimately it's great to know God is working through everyone. -everyone is accepted as you are, truly. There are some Sundays I may be tired, or emotionally drained; coming into service here and being around many welcoming people do lift me up -When I had sinus surgery a few months members of the church sent me a card for a speedy recovery. -I am proud of the work they do to feed the homeless and to help with a form of Habitat for Humanity program. -they do clothes drive to donate to many local charities and organizations. -local Nashville musicians come to the service at times to provide their skills for the community which is always very welcomed/celebrated 2. I enjoy how Steph (the pastor) will preach from scripture and then go into providing a message that is easy to understand. Steven does a great job to help tie everything together from the service and music selection. He helps encourage others to be engaged to feel they're a part of something more. There are many times I will walk away from service feeling God's presence. I am thankful to be a part of this church and the community formed here. This was a great opportunity to put my thoughts down. I do think I would be a rather lonely person at times if it wasn't for this church. I had practically been out of church for a good 14 years. When coming back to Tennessee, I knew I had to change that. My heart craved it and my soul yearned it. My mom suggested I message a church friend living in Nashville to ask for a church recommendation. I never knew I'd find the most perfect fit at Glendale United Methodist Church. Per 3 of his recommendations, this is where I found myself. I never even considered other churches after the fact. I found my home at Glendale and with the members of our small church. Just in the small amount of time I've been a member (transferred my membership from my church from Jackson, TN where I was raised), we have gained roughly 30 new members. Our church is open, affirming, and we love everyone no matter where they're from and who they love. God works within the walls our church, but also outside in the community as well. I am overwhelmingly blessed to have such a wonderful place to worship. This is only reconfirmed everytime I interact with the members I otherwise wouldn't have had the pleasure to get to know. I am grateful for all of them.

Especially for the elderly in the community however God has a purpose and this church is going to be great in the West Nashville community!! A lot of people don't know that this church served the South Nashville community when the community was mostly African-American and helped a lot of people along the way, it has apartments that are next to the church that are low income which the church owns and Nashville needs more helping hands and low income housing!! So if you want to visit a church that still has that southern tradition old school feel then visit this church!! Everyone is welcome! Come as u are!!
