Well located on Greenhill Road not far from the Trak cinema and Burnside Village. It has a little garden in the front and a spacious area on the side for outdoor dinning in warmer weather. There's a reasonable sized car park area at the back. Huge entrance door which opens to a foyer and a big dinning room across the width of the restaurant. Tables are well spaced and there's no moving trolleys bringing plates of yum cha dishes. Waiting staff walks trays of goodies around and you could order also by filling out the order sheet of your favourite yum cha dishes. Standard yum cha dishes are all on offer as well as choices of noodles dishes. I just love their sweet sesame balls filled with sesame paste. Their cute little tea pots add 'class' to the table. Waiting staff are friendly and seems to cater and look after the packed restaurant well. Water was frequently topped up into those tea pots which 'pour' very well. To conclude, the price is very reasonable. Best to go in a group and share your experience with your friends. Just a note, yum cha means you drink Chinese tea with those little morsels and not soft drinks.

Until then, most food…read moreplaces in proximity (without dropping any names) catered to a mostly Western cuisine - breads, red meats, potatoes, burgers, etc. When Sakura Sushi opened up, it was a welcome addition to the collection of small shops and cafes found on the edges of the major retail conglomerate that dominates the centre. As part of a chain, the range is quite typical of the usual sushi delis you would come across. The pre-pepared foods you see behind the glass are made on location, and probably on the same day of service too - I felt I should mention this after finding out that some places that sell pre-made sushi packs actually import them from interstate, which is ridiculous. But I digress. They also offer a menu which consists of a variety of dons (rice dishes), soups, noodles, and even a bento option. If it's not busy, they don't take too long to prepare. I find that their seafood-based sushi rolls are hit-or-miss in taste, especially the prawns, but in saying that, I have NOT gotten sick after eating anything from this shop. Their seaweed salad is a lovely, refreshing addition to a meal (great on a hot day), but those who are unfamiliar with seaweed may find the texture a little confronting and off-putting. I am a fan of their chicken salad, which comes with cold, grey-brown noodles, as a light meal, or if I feel like breaking up the handfuls of sushi rolls in my order. Their cold rolls are also quite good when dipped in their sauce. And pop by at a certain time (either 8pm on a weekday, or 6pm on a weekend) - they sells their sushi rolls at $2 each! N.B. On this occasion, I had the beef udon, and it was most enjoyable - with quality beef and tasty broth, served with a side of pickled ginger. I ate alone so was spared the indignity of spattering any dining companions with noodle flick but I can recommend this as a place to come with a group, as there are plenty of options available.

Their sushi (which starts around $2.30) is also delicious, and is the best in the CBD. Taiyaki is also available on request. They also have comfortable seating areas and occaisionally have a traditional Japanese flautist playing during lunch hour. Maki Maki can be a little hard to find, being located in Parc Arcade, just off Gawler Place North. This, however has its benefits as the location provides a sanctuary from the noise and rush of Rundle Mall.

On my first visit I arrived to find a family of 4 eating in and very happy with their food, which is always a good sign! They do the proper charcoal chicken, spit roasted over a bed of charcoal, filling the place with an amazing aroma that really pokes at your appetite. The chips were great, lots of chicken salt and a generous serving. Staff were great as well, I will definitely be coming back! Always great to find a place with above average food when it looks like just another run-of-the-mill suburban chicken shop.
