(The other company has an AI assistant who sounds real. It's creepy.) Bruno from SSM came today, did a lot of diagnostic work, and figured out that the problem was electrical. We were charged just $232.50. Bruno took the time to explain things to us, and didn't try to sell us things. The only good thing to come out of this frigid situation is finding South Shore Mechanical. Thank you so much for your kindness and integrity! Don't ever change! We ended up putting an access hatch in the floor. He did a clean job cutting the floor (even though that's not exactly what a plumber expects to be doing at a job). He had a ton of cool tools to get the job done. He was polite, fast, and seemed like he really cared to do a good job. He said "I work as if I'm working on my own home". Never called to explain why I was empty - just said they were too busy. No explanation, no call back, I cancelled them. NOT because they missed an auto delivery by 2 weeks, more so that they never returned any of my requests for an explanation. Talked to Office Manager -- "We are just too busy" - I said ok, I am going to find a company that's not that busy..... good bye!

He quickly diagnosed the problem and presented us two options -- one, total replacement (expensive), or two, a quick fix that might buy us a little bit of time but would cost way less. Money is tight, so we went with option 2, and he told us the warning signs to look for in case it didn't work. The quick fix did not work, which we sort of expected, and again, they had someone at our house right away. This time we went with the replacement -- and they knocked off the amount we had already paid a couple weeks earlier from the new price. These guys were awesome -- quick, smart, flexible, and totally fantastic about working with our financial situation. If you're in need of a fair and fast plumber, I highly recommend them.
