The Rosetta Stone helped archeologists finally crack the code of understanding Egyptian hieroglyphics.
The stone is from 196 BC, so it is protected by heavy glass from all sides. Because of this, it's a little hard to see or take a photo of because of the glare of people reflected in the glass at any angle you look at it.
The Rosetta Stone, along with a lot of other items in the Egyptian wing of the British Museum, should obviously be repatriated to Egypt.
But for now you can see it while it's at the British Museum (and probably will be forever, because it doesn't seem they have any intention of giving it back to Egypt). read more
