I am being generous with a 3 star review. If there were a mid 2 star rating, that would be more appropriate. This store reminds me of shopping at a large Goodwill store. From the store cleanliness, organization, and especially the "customer service." The store is typically picked clean of the diamonds in the rough, leaving just the rough. There are some decent prices on some items if you have the patience to search item by item and every rack for the correct size, price, and look closely to make sure it is not too "irregular." Their cart policy is more like a Pick-'n-Save or Salvation Army than a discount department store. It feels like the employees are trained to not greet customers, make eye contact or interact with customers beyond the total at the register. The employees need to be retrained on proper tag placement to avoid product damage. A pair of shoes I bought is ruined on the sole. The tags will not come off the leather, and when they did, they left a stain. Furthermore, a dress I bought was tagged through the fabric, leaving a big, noticeable hole. I always cut the tags off to avoid damage; however, the damage was already done due to the tag placement. Please retrain the employees on proper tag placement to avoid product damage. I like how it's open later than usual too. It's worth mentioning that if you're a senior 55+, they give you 10% off your purchase every Tuesday. Also, this store is considered an Amazon hub--so if you order from Amazon, you have the option of picking up your shipment at this store. read more

This Ross has limited goods and looks very picked over. I found a couple of items but stock was very limited. Also, make sure not to have too many items (which would be hard with their limited stock!) because you can't take the carts out of the store to take your items to your car. Service was horrid. I had 6 items in my arms. There was 1 person In line ahead of me. It was 930pm. I get in line, and I see two people at registers.. only one is using them ho. The other is standing next to her with her cell phone in her hands not even acknowledging us. I asked guy in front of me how long this has been going on, he said "probably all day". I thought that was funny, because next thing you know this girl who wouldn't give me her name, just said she was ""Manager". I said that's your name? She nodded yes?!. I will never return. Don't bother shopping here unless you can carry it all out at one time. They don't allow you to take a cart from the store. You are expected to leave the goods you purchased, completely unattended, to go and retrieve your car and drive to the RED zone in front of the store and park there (illegal to do so...it's NOT a yellow loading zone). I doubt that the excuse..."the manager told me to do it" will get you out of an expensive ticket. Manager said no employee is allowed to go into the parking lot due to safety issues, but he would load me up at the curb. However, a person MUST set foot into the parking lot to load a car even at the curb, unless you have a good basketball aim and a six foot reach! Kohl's and Safeway are in the same center, and have carts that customers are allowed to wheel to their car with their purchases. Wonder how they manage it?? Perhaps the manager should have a chat with them, since they seem to operate successfully. This appears to be a high shrinkage store; only ONE operational dressing room next to the cashiers. The store doesn't trust their customers, but they expect you to abandon your newly purchased property in the store while you go out to your car. NOT HAPPENING. There was NO secure area for my property left in the cart. There was no security officer to guard it. I could have arrived home to discover that other people had walked by my cart and removed stuff while I was in the parking lot. and I would have no way to prove it. I returned everything on the spot. As a senior, I find this particularly disturbing. Many of us have mobility issues as we age. I am stunned that a business will refuse to allow a customer to use a cart to take their purchases to a vehicle, and instead we are asked to (1) abandon our purchases unsupervised in a high risk store, (2) be expected to move our vehicle to an area where parking is not allowed, so that store staff can toss us our purchases from the sidewalk??? Because IF the manager is correct, that his insurance doesn't allow employees in the parking lot...well, they can't step off the sidewalk to help you at all. So good luck! read more

Ross is the part of the THX company which includes; TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Ross. I really love this company and I am a stockholder. They opened 70 new stores in 2018. Whenever I'm at one of these stores they are always packed. Online shopping has become super popular of late and I buy something almost every day online. But there is something about actually going into a store and feeling, touching and trying things on before you buy it. My most favorite thing is that you never know what products they will have in stock each time. I like the treasure hunt feel of this store. I purchased so many random things that I needed. Noon on a Saturday before Christmas and only one cashier?! Oh wait, they have two, but one of them is not at her register. When I asked them to add another cashier, Joana, associate 902170, said they had it under control.... 20 people in line and 1 cashier is not under control. When I called and spoke with an associate, while still in line, Operator said she would get someone else to help; she called the front while Joana was "helping" me, and Joana told the lady "we have two cashiers and we have it under control". Meanwhile, there are more people getting in line and the other "cashier" was still not at the register. How rude of Joana to ignore our pleas and not ask for help from her associates for their customers. Usually, they are pretty on top of it, and I was able to find exactly what I was looking for today. Associate number: 654970 was extremely disrespectful. She left a sour experience. It's 9:45 and knowing I'm the only guest in the store says the store is closing in 5 minutes. I went to bring all of my items to start paying with her. A man comes in and security tells him "Sir we're closing in 10 minutes." And both ladies starts laughing. So what time do they really close? Plus is laughing necessary. If it was something they were discussing prior to me coming up, clearly customer service was not needed because they decide to continue with the conversation while I was right in front of them. To put the cherry on top, she starts texting while I put my pin in, receipt prints out, while still staring at her cell phone says have a great night and hands me the receipt without any eye contact. Why say anything at all when whoever you're texting at work is much more important than your paying customer? I'm not asking for a red carpet, but the lack or integrity and plain decency I experience at this location during this visit is plain unacceptable. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

I find this store takes a lot of patience and time in order to find something worthy of purchasing. It is a great place if you don't have anything specific in mind. Not much to offer as far as customer service goes, since workers seem to be scarce, except at the dressing room area. Ross is my next favorite for getting glam on a budget. Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls are all owned by the same parent company, but they are all VERY different and require different strategies. For whatever reason, this is my favorite Ross in Reno- I'm convinced it's because of this neighborhood's suburban demographics, fellow shoppers are not looking for the same stuff I am, so I WIN! Checkouts are pretty smooth and they have more people here now, avoiding the snaking check-out lines that can plague Ross stores. This store is always super neat and tidy, too. Rules of Ross: 98% of the stuff here is just HORRIBLE. Vile fabrics, awful cuts, things that someone dumped out of a semi and drove off. Avoid, avoid! 2% of the stuff is GREAT. I have hit Calvin Klein gold mines here- beautiful sleeveless blouses, sleek layering pieces, work-appropriate separates. For about 50-70% off retail. I've also noted their workout clothes can have some hidden gems- yoga tops and the like for good prices. You can also find some beautiful Polo/Ralph Lauren shirts for men ($14.99!!). The key to find the great stuff is to drop by and do a quick scan at the front and do a fabric/brand check, going down the aisles and spending about ten minutes to screen. I have dropped by the store more than a few times and left empty-handed, but keep your sleuthing skills up and you will be rewarded. A fun modern-day treasure hunt! read more

Used to buy my clothes almost exclusively at Ross, but not anymore. Prices are as high as department stores but you get the added bonus of having holes punched through literally everything you buy. They feel the need to put security tags on a $10 t-shirt and completey ruin them. Junk. I hate going to the mall but if it means not having holes in everything I own, I'm willing to deal with the inconvenience. read more

This was the cleanest Ross that I have ever seen. I am still astounded by it. Friendly service, clean floors, clothes actually hung in the racks that correspond to their sizes. They had a great selection of shoes including a bunch of doc martens and Steve maddens. Heck this store even had all of the shoes where they were supposed to be organized by size. Insane! The kitchen area was what I came in here for and it was just as clean as the rest. I was very happy to find a 5 pack of bamboo utensils for under $4. Let alone nothing was broken or out of its packaging. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was able to try on several pairs of shoes without the beeper tags tiring them together easily by asking and then they asked me if I needed additional pairs freed. So I was able to try on several ore pairs very easily. Thanks for having such a customer centric store. read more

The Prices are great! The customer service is not! Return policies are horrid. Return lines can be sooooooo slooooooow! Nevertheless, if you are a bargain hunter in Reno, and shopping for new as opposed to used goods, Ross will show up on the list of your top four places to check along with Marshalls, Tuesday Morning, and TJ Max. I am a fan of Ross stores, I have patronized these stores for a very long time. I recently have had some experiences at this stores that made my tastes change. I have had a few problems buying products and having them fall apart within a couple weeks of purchases. I think that although they offer some decent products and good prices, one has to look into the quality and durability of the good/product. The return policy at this store makes it very hard to return a defective item. Yesterday, I got a Starbucks coffee drink at Safeway and decided to get some clothes at this store. The loss prevention officer at the front of the store came charging at me as soon as I entered this store. She rudely started yelling at me that drinks are not allowed in this store and if I wanted to shop in there I would have to leave my drink up front or throw it away. I have shopped at very high end and low end stores and I have never encountered rude employees. Without saying anything I left the store and decided to take my purchases elsewhere. I think that the employees at this store are very rude and make any shopping experience into a hostile experience. This is the strangest Ross Dress For Less I have ever visited. As for most RDFL stores, it's in a strip mall -- no surprise there. The store is so sparsely stocked that it has the look of a place that is imminently going out of business. The racks are disconcertingly empty, and the space between the racks and displays is so broad that you wonder if they just experienced a run on cheap polyester-blend t-shirts, or if the store is always that way? Housewares are sparsely stocked, beauty is sparsely stocked...heck, *everything* is sparsely stocked. It was spooky. I looked around briefly and left. I really teetered between 2 and 3 stars on this one so I took out a handy piece of paper and started with 5 stars. From that point I went through the experiences I had and either added or subtracted a star until I came to the end of the trip and it totaled to 3 so 3 it is. I might prefer to say 2.5. I wondered into this store with my daughter because I had 1 1/2 hours to kill and I was trying to find stuff to spend money on. We walked around the entire store and ended up filing our basket with random stuff we didn't really need but decided we wanted. Included in the basket were two pairs of Guess shoes, a dress for me, a huge piece of canvas artwork, hair stuff for my daughter, a lap top pillow, a journal and some other things. The store is like any other Ross - sort of clean and sort of not. A tad disorganized but nothing that screamed "thrift store". Reason #1 that they lost a star (and this has already been mentioned) is that I caught the Loss Prevention guy following me around. Not only was I insulted that he thought I was going to steal something (come on dude - am I going to shove this canvas artwork that's taller than I am in my purse and make a run for it?) but he was kinda creeping me out. I started walking around faster to try to lose him. Reason #2 that they lost a star: I went into the dressing room to try on a dress which ended up look super awesome. I went out to my waiting cart and asked if I could take the shoes in to see what they look like with the dress in the full length mirror. I was told no by Tatiana ( I think that's her name and how to spell it ). She was not very nice about it and when I told her that I didnt understand why I can't take them in another 10 steps to see she rolled her eyes and walked away. Wow. After Tatiana crossed the eye rolling line my daughter and I put 99% of the impluse purchases back. I ended up buying the dress and hair ties. We spent a whopping $30.00 instead of the $150.00 we had in the cart. I can't deduct anymore stars because the place was not dirty or baron. The thing about Ross is that you have to know what brands found in Ross are the best. Some brands fall apart quickly, while others seem to last a long time. If you know which brands are the best, you will love shopping at Ross. The prices are great, and the store is always clean. Went to Ross expecting to spend some time there shopping for clothing. Went through the racks with in 20 minutes and only found about 6 things to try on went into the dressing rooms and was not impressed By the dressing assistants customer service tried everything on and only one thing fit right. I come out of the dressing room and hung my stuff on the racks deciding to get one thing. The dressing room attendant rushed over to count my stuff and I stood there patiently waiting. Then she says that I'm missing something. I say I shouldn't be and she counts again then again then again before she realizes she missed something. If you can't count right and carefully you shouldn't have that job. I have never felt so humiliated in my life. She ended up apologizing and saying to have a nice day but I will not be going there again. They barely have any selection and look like they are going out of business the employees I have seen don't go out of their way to provide customer service and the dressing room attendant was about to accuse me of stealing even when everything was hung up in front of her. There are several other Ross stores in the area that are much more worth the trip. read more

My trip to this Ross was okay it wasn't anything special I found a nice top that I like and I bought that I looked at some of their perfumes and I didn't find anything that suited my interest but they do have a large selection of women's clothing most of it is pretty cheap but you can find some nice stuff in quality manufacturers mixed in with the more generic playing manufacturers with the more plain clothing. There seems to be more security workers work in the aisles than there are helpers and that is an indicator to me that I may not want it too much more shopping at the store since there's so much loss prevention folks all over the place. Luckily I found the top I like and I hope it lasts for a while because it fits perfect! I would say that if you're going to come to this Ross to come during the weekday because on the weekends I've been here and it's super busy even today on a Thursday the line was 4 people. read more

Very rude customer service. Saw a cashier hold up the line after a guy wanted to pay with his five dollar bill instead of the 20 she had already grabbed off the counter. This cashier lady was seriously upset about this. She didn't hand him back his change for over a minute. Meanwhile they're yelling over the loud speaker that the cashiers are closing up. He even told her how much it would be. 3$ and some change plus his 20$ he had first given. She said with an attitude it was messing with her count on the cash register. She pulled out her cell phone as a calculator and possibly replied to some texts too. This did not happen to me but I witnessed her literally throw back his 20$ bill at him and have unnecessary attitude making him upset as well. This lady should not work as a cashier if she can't handle simple math and customer service. Another employee put his hands on his hips and watched the customer leave in an intimidating way as if the customer did something wrong! I do not recommend. This is a fairly new Ross located in West Reno just off I-80. I shopped here on a Monday around 1 PM and a Wednesday around noon. On both occasions I found this store to be clean, neat, well organized and well stocked. This is just what I like to see when I enter a Ross. They had some nice, inexpensive designer purses, an excellent selection of comforters and other bedding, some high-quality towels and kitchenware, as well as some snowboarding items...both hard and soft gear. They even had some inexpensive pet beds, both for fido and kitty. When I return to visit my family in Reno, I will definitely shop at this Ross again. read more

I consider Ross similar to a thrift store. I have to be in a certain mood to want to dig thru their overstuffed racks of clothing. I always come in here to look for summer dresses. No luck today but I did browse the home goods section and that was incredibly messy. The store always looks haphazardly put together. When you go to a Ross, you have to expect that you'll need some time to search through all the racks and shelves to find the good stuff. This store is no different, except, like someone else said, half the racks seem empty so it takes much less time. As with many other Ross stores, the racks are in disarray and nothing is where it belongs. The women's clothing, which makes up the major portion of the store, is still lacking, and the kids and babies sections are practically nonexistant. Back in housewares, most of the items seem to have been opened and tampered with, and several things I purchased from there were missing parts once I got them home. This is also one of the messiest and most picked through Rosses I have ever been in. They do get a star for their employees, who have always been nice, and for the fact that you can occasionally find stellar deals if you have the patience to look. I'll probably try a couple other Ross stores in Reno though before going back to this one again. This Ross store has by far the rudest employees. If they aren't chatting amongst themselves about things I'd rather not hear about, they are ignoring you. My family and I were on a family trip and we decided to stop by to pick up something we forgot to pack. We're waiting in line and I guess it turns out we were waiting in the wrong line, which was customer service, and the lady in the front named Claudia, told us we had to move to the other line for regular check-out. For once, there was no one else in either line besides us, after we moved we saw her whisper something to the customer she was helping. We patiently waited until someone else was willing to help, then the same lady "oh I can help whoever is next" and apparently she was talking to us, so she made us move for no reason and had the audacity to talk about us? My family and I, are Mexican and we didn't know why she was she was talking to us so rudely. I hope never to experience this again and we will certainly will not be returning. read more

Worst experience I've ever had by far shopping. Waited in line for a good 10 minutes and was the next person to be helped a couple walked in to the store and got into the return line about 8 minutes into me standing in line. Meanwhile a woman's screaming child whom she gave no fucks about carried on and the other couple behind me in line argued. Already on edge because of all the commotion and the wait the clerk kid sees me standing there for 10 minutes and calls the return customers over who've been waiting maybe a minute or 2. I stormed over to the fitting rooms and asked for a manager. What I got was a laughable manager on duty. I explained to her how the kid just skipped over me and she pretended to apologize and act like I was being irrational in complaining. So after she finally goes to help the kid get through an enormous line she proceeds to make me wait very last in line. So after another 10 minute wait I'm boiling over. I ask to speak with her manager and she tells me that she's it. Not only is the store being run by what I assume is an over glorified clerk (having worked in retail and knowing what manager on duty means), but they don't even have an actual manager there to over see how shitty they're being run? After I talked to her she about how I was frustrated that she proceeded to make me wait seeing as I just complained to her about being skipped over and not even given a thought, she acted like "oh well what are you going to do".
