This is one of the largest and most organized Ross locations I've ever been too (best one probably being the Las Vegas Strip location). Tons of items in stock, and very neat organization. I bought a pair of running shoes, and checkout was fast and efficient. They were checking receipts at the door, but a lot of locations are doing that now so no big deal. The other employee I dealt with was also helpful. The parking lot has plenty of spaces since it's in a larger shopping center, you just may have to park a few rows from the entrance. read more

This is a huge Ross. They had a lot of name-brand shoes and boots at cheap prices which was phenomenal. Service was ok and the line moved fast even though it was long. This store saves me money--but not in the way you think. I understand that there may be pay differential for different job descriptions--but do cashiers really make so much that this store cannot afford to have more than two cashiers on the floor at any one time? I go to the CVS next door, so I randomly visit this Ross location on different days of the week, at different times of the day. For the past two years, you typically do not see more than two (on a rare occasion three) cashiers at any one time. As a result, the check out lines can get really long. Whether long or short, there is always a line for check out, so the cashiers are always working. There are many times when I decide not to make a purchase just because the check out line is too long. Good Afternoon Was there this morning and the cashier Wendy was very rude. I was holding the items and showing her the tags to put it back in the cart to help her since they didn't have bags and she was just pulling them out of my hands and throwing them on the counter. I come as a paying customer not asking for free items. I don't understand her rude attitude if it's busy she should understand how to handle it. HORRIBLE location and HORRIBLE manager !! i was in line waiting to pay for my goods when a manager who goes by "roena" or however you spell her name was yelling at her workers in front of everyone and embarassing them!! this is not okay. This is not how you treat others especially your workers. She was yelling at them to do chores and telling the poor lady to "hurry up" in front of everyone ON A TUESDAY. Really! Shaming someone for not making a donation. Whoever the security guard was that was working here at this location on Wednesday 2-12-25 at around 1pm should not be saying things to their coworkers about the customers (my daughter and her friend). The security guard said "damn they said f@&? them kids". When my daughter and her friend work there at the Boys and Girls Club. They donate, support, and contribute all the time. One time they say "no not this time" and they get treated like this. We are not forced to donate. God knows if the money really goes to the place they're "helping"!!!! I like shopping at this Ross. I find the staff to be helpful and friendly. The Loss Prevention staff at the door are always very friendly while they check you receipt. The Ross marketing is right, it's a treasure hunt. They have unique clothing items and home furnishings you can't find at other stores at really good prices. Since Tuesday Morning left town, Ross is my go to. You do have to go often because they get shipments almost everyday, and the cute stuff does not hang around for long. I was gonna say, "Somehow being up on the third level of this shopping plaza (I think it's the third level), and having a view of the city from the parking lot, makes this Ross store feel a little bit crispier." I like Ross - I don't mind looking through 100 items to find the one I want. It's my garage sale department store. But, this store seems to have a much larger supply of women's items so I didn't find anything I liked on this visit. This is also one of the larger stores I've been in and the aisles are nicely spread out, not as cramped as some of the other Ross stores I've been in. I like this Ross for one it's right next to my office. I'm at the Harbor Cove Plaza and I love that the hours are late, plenty of parking, good home decor area. There is a table I'm saving money for that I would like to get soon and a cute ottoman. I think there furniture is cute and random. I've been decorating my office and saw some cute stuff here. They don't give me a hard time if I have to use the restroom. I go in a few times a week to see what treasures I can get. The security guard always greets me. Jennifer the front end supervisor for sure is the most terrible person in this store. I have no idea how even she was chosen as this position. Had about 4 times interactions with her in different times in a three months period time and every single time she was unpleasant unfriendly and rude. Does not know anything about customer appreciation and service. I have been shopping at Ross Dress for Less located at 940 N. Western Avenue, San Pedro, CA 90732 for over 10 years and am very familiar with the way how their cashiers serve the customers. But my most recent visit to this store shocked me and changed my perspective toward Ross entirely! I visited this store around 7 p.m. last night, there were only two customers (a couple) who were returning something when I walked in, in addition to the return/exchange cashier, there were two female associates at the register. One had the service light on while she's not serving any customer, the other one was organizing the return items. During my first 45-minute wait, the following happened: 1. The cashier who had the service light on asked her counterpart, "are you going to take care of the next return?" The other woman who's busy handling the return (for the couple) answered, "yes." 2. The same cashier who asked the question in (1) turned off the service light and starting organizing some return items. While I waited in line to return for even though there were two associates available, neither one was willing to assist me in returning only one item. 3. I asked the cashier who raised the question in (1) above why neither of them could process my return, she said, "I'm going on a break, and the other one is the store manager." It didn't make any sense to me why the store manager could not process a return when her staff must go on a break. When I asked why neither she or her manager could process my return, she responded, "We have a designated cashier who handles all the returns." If that's the case, why did she ask her counterpart whether or not she will take care of the next return? I asked her the store manager's name, she said, "CHRISTIE." Meanwhile Christie gave me a very nasty look before she buried herself in the return items again. The strangest thing happened immediately after she responded to me, two customers walked up for purchases, the woman who gave me the lame answer turned on her service light and took care of both customers who came to the queue line about 45 minutes after I did. I still had to wait for the one who said she will handle my return. I was the only person who stood in line for about an hour and half before getting any help. Finally the almighty cashier who was committed to provide me with service called me up, with the longest face and the worst attitude, she processed my return within five minutes. I gave her feed back about how terrible their service was and commented the store manager did not do her job in providing customer service, and instead enabled her staff to abuse and mistreat their customer. She chose to ignore my feedback and did not apologize. I was angry but calm when I left the store. I looked at my watch, I waited for hour and half for a five-minute return, that was a first! This Ross Dress for Less in San Pedro was the worst place I've ever had to return a purchased item. Not only all three workers were rude, indifferent and unprofessional, the worst part was one of them was the store manager. Whenever I need workout clothes, socks, flip flops, or other odds & ends, this is my spot. It's Ross people... you are not going to find a piano player and amazing customer service. The store is big and has a good size selection set in most categories. It certainly gets picked over and can get messy, which has everything to do with it being a busy location, and the clientele is not attune to being a respectable shopper - you know what I mean! This Ross is AWESOME! They have the best selection of shoes, pants, purses and jewelry of any Ross I've been to. I never thought I would gush about anything in San Pedro but I have to give props where due. The pants section is great. I can always come here and immediately find at least 3 pairs of pants in long length that fit me. I can find Lucky and Tommy Hilifiger jeans here as well as work pants. I can even find good clearance items. I don't really do Ross for shirts but I have found a nice shirt or two here. Most Ross' you have to hunt and hunt for that perfect pair of pants or a shirt, but not here. The shoe section is amazing. Most of the time the cute shoes in size 9 or 10 are always gone, but I can always find my size here. They have Coach and Michael Kors here. I always find several pair of nice designer shoes for a really good price. The purses are nice. I just glance all the time but I often see Juicy Couture and Michael Kors. I like Betsey Johnson and I can always find her earrings here. I can always find a good pair of earrings, come to think of it. I will say this Ross has the BEST selection. This is just an Ok Ross. A lot of the clothes seems like they have been at the store for a long time. I am not sure how often they bring fresh merchandise but some of the clothes have small holes, tears, and are just in poor shape. I did however find a nice pink top that matched with a shirt I have. I had been looking just for the right pink and couldn't find it at the mall or the other store by Trader Joes. Rating should be only 3.5. I will continue to visit and see if it surprises me and if I keep finding small gems. The great: tons of parking, spacious fitting rooms, open and large. Not so great: the quality of the clothes is not as great as the local competition. The merchandise selection at this Ross has it's ups and downs; sometimes there are a lot of great finds, and other times there's nothing. The best time to go to any Ross in general is on the weekdays, but if you must go on the weekends, go right when they open. Weekends at Ross= a chaotic mess of people and clothes. The biggest downfall of this location is the horrible smell right when you walk in. Other than that, the store overall is alright. This Ross has been around for many, many years and Pedro. It has currently gone through a beautiful facelift inside and out. The plaza on Western and Crestwood is now a beautiful-retro plaza and Ross has gone all the way to ensure the inside of the store looks very meticulous. I was there yesterday picked up some really good items for a great price. Worst location ever. I wasn't acknowledged whatsoever when I was at the return/exchange line. All employees were very inattentive. Not to mention I walked in and there was no welcome message while 2 Hispanic women walked right behind me and were greeted. Talk about racism. Just because I'm the only Asian in the store doesn't mean I shouldn't be greeted and unacknowledged. I waited in the line for more than 30 minutes while employees were looking and staring down at me. I never felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable in a store before. Something should be done here. This is highly unacceptable especially I always go to this location and has never been treated like this before until now. I suggest some basic human interaction training for the employees here. I was going to the dressing room to try on 4 pieces of clothing. I watched how the dressing room employee intersected with several customers including myself. I was never greeted nor welcome once arriving to the dressing room An older caucasian woman working the dressing room at that time; was very cautious when checking my 4 items. She checked each one by one and made sure that all the security tags was securely on. When I came out, not once did she say a word to me nor a thank you. Now it was 3 young caucasian girls behind me. Each had over 10 items to try on. I stood there and watched how she would interact with them. She greeted them, & laughed with them. The Ross associate informed them they can only take so many items in. Now she counted her items, but not once did she make sure the security tag was secured on any of the items; like she did my items. I watched her do all 3 customers. Lastly yes I am African American. The racism has to stop. I am a nurse who works with Hospice patients and I have on my work uniform. No purse or no bag. I shop at Ross multiple times a week. Spoke with the manager Ali who gave me the customer service number to call. Not once did he apologize for my bad experience. Not once did he welcomed me to come back or anything. I usually love going to Ross when I have some free time and just wander the aisles. Every now and then, I find a really good deal. This location is not worth the effort. I had purchased some window curtain panels about a week ago and when I got home and opened them up, I found them to be dirty and ripped. Went here cause my fiance wanted a pair of sandals. But my fiance likes this Ross, cause they tend to have plus shirts, etc... So I figured what the heck, I have to return a shirt that I purchased a few days ago at the Signal Hill location. I glanced at a few things and got a pair of flip flops. But I used to shop at this location often- when I lived in Pedro while ago. He grabbed a pair if flips flops as well. When I am with him, I cannot really look around or shop (like any other man, he gets all cranking and impatient) We jumped in line and boy did that line move fast, the staff was friendly, quick and efficient.
