Visited this spot with my family per the recommendation of our Airbnb host, and it didn't disappoint! Came by twice in the span of 3 days (once for lunch and then for dinner). The service was fast and the staff was attentive. Both times, our party of 4 was seated immediately, since they have multiple floors of seating areas. For drinks, I ordered an Aperol Spritz and a white wine. I'd never had Aperol Spritz in Italy, but was excited to try it. It was good, but had much less frizz than expected. The white wine (Greco di Tufo) was very good. We wanted something light and refreshing and that was exactly what we got, per the server's recommendation. For lunch I had the pasta carbonara and for dinner the Cafuncella Pizza. The pasta carbonara was al dente and the sauce very creamy with the perfect amount of pepper. The only thing I would've done was add more guanciale. The pizza had provolone cheese, pancetta, tomato, rosemary potatoes, and cacioricotta flakes. The pizza dough was extra thin, to the point that some areas of the pizza would break down a bit when trying to grab a bite. However, the sauce and the toppings were very good and the description of the pizza on the menu says it's thin, so I wasn't surprised. Overall, I recommend this spot when in the area. I would say go for the pasta instead of the pizza, since there are far better pizza places in the area.
This is definitely a tourist restaurant. Think Buca di Beppo with a smaller portion size. Restaurant is rather large for the area. Staff is nice. Be warned, there is zero cell service, so when you pass by the sign as you walk in, take a picture of the WiFi code. You'll need it. For the appetizers, Meatballs were small and the sauce really needed a little garlic salt? Paccheri noodles were not as soft as I hoped and the promised burrata was hard to find. Chocolate torte was fine. Not quite a fresh chocolate lava cake. More like a premade dessert warmed up. It's fine for what it is. Seems family friendly. But very basic. Prices were affordable though!
It was lunch time, we were in St. Mark's Square, we were hungry and were in the mood for pizza. Using Yelp, we found Rosso Pomodoro only a few minutes walk from where we were. We were able to get in with only about a three minute wait and walked into a fairly large restaurant. We were seated near a window and the restaurant decor was very attractive and inviting. We were both in the mood for a pizza and a beer, so we immediately zeroed into that part of the menu. Both of the pizzas we ordered were excellent with a charred crust and perfect dough. The ingredients were high quality and tasty. Our only mistake was ordering two pizzas, because each of us could only finish half. I've seen some comments on Yelp about the service, but our service was quick and attentive.
This is a popular pizza chain so we had to try it out. It was pretty good but also I didn't feel like it was anything special either. Ended up getting a pasta which tasted fairly fresh, the noodles had a nice bite to it and the sauce was good. The pizza was crispy and thin. Flavors were solid and we enjoyed it. The parmesan cheese they gave us had a dead maggot in it, which might mean it's super fresh but not totally sure. Overall for a chain, it's pretty good. Prices were good, drinks and food were solid.
Just okay. I'm not understanding the hype about this spot. The pizza we got was flimsy and hard to even eat. It appeared and tasted to lack any pizza sauce. It was just cheese and vegetables. It was a vegetarian pizza. I would not recommend it. The cheese ravioli was different. It had cheese inside and then it was topped with crunchy cheese. That was weird for me because the cheese inside the ravioli was super soft and gave a mushy consistency. Then the crunchy cheese garnish with the mush inside, didn't work. It was gross to me. I couldn't eat this. Service was good. No issues there. One of the cooks was drinking beer while making our pizza. Maybe that's why the pizza sucked? Cute place, and I like the decor. Nice location too, close to grand canal in Venice.
The restaurant is very large, but gets SUPER busy at lunch time after all of the morning tours of the basilica and doge palace get released. They said it would be 45 min until our pizza was done: so we got French fries as we waited, and their ketchup wasn't Normal ketchup: be prepared, haha. But fries were perfectly cooked. The pizza , however, was the worst pizza we had in all of Italy. (Forgot to get a photo). we think they were rushing our order, since they were so backed up. The center of the pizza was still raw dough, and wasn't cooked!
This great spot was right next door to my hotel and I had lunch & dinner there the same day...because I had to try both the pizza and pasta. The staff was great both times (attentive, patient and English language very good). The food was very good and I found the pizza sauce to be much better than the pasta and meatball sauce.
Came after the reccomendation of my tour guide. It's the only pizza place in Venice with a wood (or coal I don't remember) burning oven. The pizza is the exact type that speaks to my soul! From the deliciously chewy, crispy crust to fresh toppings I don't think pizza can get better than this. Was the best pizza I had in Italy.
I recently visited a popular pizza place in Venice, Italy, with high expectations based on its reputation among visitors. Unfortunately, my experience was a bit of a letdown. The pizza, which I was most excited to try, turned out to be very salty, overshadowing the other flavors. On the positive side, the fried calamari was tasty, with a nice crispy texture and well-seasoned flavor. However, the service left much to be desired. The servers took a long time to take our orders and bring the food. To add to the frustration, our drinks didn't arrive until we got our food, which was quite disappointing. Additionally, I'm fairly certain we were overcharged, which left a sour note on the overall experience. While the fried calamari was enjoyable, the overly salty pizza and subpar service make it hard to recommend this place, especially given the plethora of dining options in Venice. Restaurant was loud and crowded.
Found this place through yelp and decided to go for dinner. The place seems like a normal restaurant from the inside but is actually HUGE with a large upstairs area as well. Had no idea from the pictures that this is actually a chain restaurant. We got the seafood pasta, bruschetta, and diavola pizza. The seafood pasta had plenty of clams and mussels and a huge portion. Pizza was pretty good and bruschetta was ok. I would consider coming here again but probably try something different next time

We ordered a Caprese salad and Diavola pizza tonight for take away to bring back to our hungry kids in Venice. I know... First world problems. We do work very hard for our money though, so it was extremely disappointing to have spent almost €26 on just these two items. The pizza was just OK; however, the Caprese salad that was nearly €13 consisted of three slices of mozzarella and two slices of tomatoes on a wilted bed of arugula. Venice seems to be a city of scams galore, and this restaurant is no different. I would highly recommend going elsewhere for your lunch or dinner. It's definitely not worth it. (Note: Our son ate one of the tomatoes, so the other one is left in the picture.) read more

Rossopomodoro is always packed with tourists since it is so close to the city center and offers an affordable bite close to the main attractions. The location is large, with multiple floors inside to accommodate the demand. We were lucky to grab a seat outside, so we could enjoy the good weather also. We had the mozzarella and tomato salad with a funghi pizza for a light lunch. The salad was the star (and the reason for the extra review star) of the meal, with a large ball of mozzarella ontop of a pile of fresh tomatoes. It went perfectly as a side with the pizza. A nice place to stop by for a break and lunch. read more
Venice, Italy It's funny how all of the tourists were flocking to this place as if they were searching for a treasure and found it. 3.5 stars The food was good, but not great. Also found out this is a chain owned by a famous Italian athlete, and there are many locations, this is not a small independent as I originally thought. Regretted not visited the restaurant Marco Polo that our local contact had suggested as her favorite pizza family owned spot in Venice. I will admit curiosity got the best of me. The salad was decent, looks better on pic, pizza crust too salty and soggy in the middle, too much wood taste from the type of wood they used for the fire. Liked not loved. Too many other places to try, would not return. read more

A friend recently returned from Italy and said, "you gotta go to Rossopomodoro for pizza." Yeah, yeah. But when a chef we befriended in Venice made the same suggestion, we took notice. I hadn't had any bad pizza in Italy, but theirs is a notch above. The three of us shared two pies and a salad. Our order was spot on: -- smoked provola di Agerola cheese topped with mortadella ham, crumbled pistachios and lemon zest -- five cheeses: mozzarella, buffalo Caciottia, Gorgonzola, fromage de brebis pecorino, and -- I can't read my writing! -- a fifth cheese -- Coccode -- a salad of lettuce, radicchio, avocado, crispy pancetta, olives, shaved Grana cheese all topped with Caesar dressing. This was by far the best salad on our trip. The restaurant is popular and fills up. We made a reservation, which I don't know if they honored or we just showed up when a table was available. Prices commensurate with every other pizza place in Venice and service was friendly and efficient. read more

Be warned if you have the pizzas here, there will be a longing to the depths of your soul yearning for this again - and you know the INSTANT you sink your teeth into this pie that it will never be satiated unless you go back to Rossopomodoro. This has been said by previous reviewers and I thought they were exaggerating- THEY ARE NOT!!! The 2 pizzas we had were the Verace and the Rossopomodoro. The Verace is nothing but the best freshest buffalo mozzarella in marinara made beyond perfection baked in the only wood oven in Venice. The Rossopomodoro is red and yellow tomatoes with 2 different cheeses. Oh -Holy Jesus, who would have thought such simple toppings can bring forth such flavors your taste buds have never experienced - Soooo Goood!! The crust on these pizzas are amazing!! We also had spaghetti carbonara that was fine good really, but you come here for the pizzas. We also had the Bellini. A peachy drink with a nice fizz to it read more
I love that they have so many food options here. I have been eating pizza and pasta for days and wanted to grab a salad and decided to give this place a try. My boyfriend and I shared ordered a burrata to start off with which we both enjoyed. He had the Margherita pizza while I had the Caesar salad. He really loved the pizza. The Caesar salad was good, nothing to rave about but I was just glad they had salad options. Servers were very friendly. Highly recommend read more

Yummy, casual dinner. They were quite busy and it took some time to get additional requests in but they were friendly. I really liked the tubetonni pasta so much so that I took that over the gnocchi, as hubby was nice enough to switch. I love gnocchi but theirs was a little too soft and mushy for me. Maybe that's how it's made in Italy. Really loved their calamari! Can't get it like that in the states! read more

I did not expect the food at a chain restaurant to be so good. From the name ('Red Tomato') to the look of the restaurant, it gives the feel of an establishment that serves mass produced goods. The space is quite big. When I saw the wood-burning oven, I felt slightly more reassured about the quality of the pizza. 3€ vino rosso (red wine): How can house wine be so good? Such nice flavor at such low cost. 5€ Fragolella (strawberry wine cooler): Sweet and refreshing. The bottle was accompanied by a wine glass with ice cubes that resembled a middle finger, which I found quite humorous. 12.50€ Gnocchi corbarino e provola, basil (gnocchi w/ tomato sauce, provolone, basil): Very good gnocchi! It was so light, with very smooth texture. The sauce was very cheesy and each spoonful created a delightful cheese pull. 9.50€ Diavola pizza - pomodoro, mozzarella, spicy salami and basil: Very good, essentially a margherita pizza with some spicy salami on top. I loved its imperfectly formed circular shape. The dough was so soft and the sauce tasted fresh. Everything was delicious and our server was very nice. I only wish that I had more stomach space so that we could have ordered more food. read more

When in Venice, one must try Rossopomodoro! So good, I had to go twice and I got the exact same thing because it hit the spot so well. So allow me to spill the tea: Starter: Bruschetta- think home grown flavorful tomatoes chopped with fresh basil and tasty olive oil. Let's not forget to mention the freshly baked bread. Thank goodness it comes with two slices of bread or else I would just eat that as my meal. Entree: I was craving good ol spaghetti and meatballs. Now, in Italy, that is not how it is done. Pasta does not come with meat and you can order meatballs that come a la carte. Reminds me a bit of family style but smaller portions. So, to accommodate my craving, I ordered the garlic pasta AND the meatballs. Combine when they arrive and there you go. The most flavorful, heavenly dish one could ask for. If you are like me and LOVE garlic, it really comes through on the pasta and compliments the meatballs quite well. Sadly, the food was so amazingly awesome, I did not have any room for dessert. So no comment there. read more
This is the first restaurant we came to when visiting Venice and we came back another night because the food was so good. The restaurant was packed both times we came however service was excellent and food came quickly. I forgot the name of the appetizer we got but it was flowered something and it was amazing. I miss this place already lol. The pizza was....chef's kiss. read more

Neapolitan pizza in Venice was the question. The yummy, chewy answer was this busy Venetian outpost of the popular Rossopomodoro chain. The pizza was satisfying and wine robust. We left happy ... and full. A bottle of Ripasso DOC 2017 (Corte Giara) was dark and devilish at a cheap price. It danced well with our pair of pizzas. * Verace Pizza (10.50€) Don't get the cheaper Margherita pizza. Instead get this cooler version with real Italian Buffalo Mozzarella (bufala DOP) plus classic Roma Tomatoes and Basil. * Bresaolella Pizza (13€) You're in Italy so, eat like it with this rich pizza featuring Golosa di Puglia Burrata Cheese, Buffalo Bresaola (cured meat), Arugula (aka Rocket), Mushroom Carpaccio, Citronette, and Grana Wafer bits. The Rossopomodoro location in Venice was the answer I needed for Neapolitan pizza while proving chain pizza never tastes as good as chain pizza in Italy. read more
Went here on a bit of a whim as we struggled to find restaurants in Venice that didn't focus on seafood. This was the spot! The food was good and we greatly enjoyed our pizzas. There were also a lot of locals eating here (& ordering the pizza) so that was a good sign. However, the staff wasn't the best. They ignored our table several times when trying to ask for the check, and also were somewhat rude with our questions (granted we all speak very little Italian so it's valid). Two of my friends got the Cesar salad and were given the salad without any Cesar dressing (even though on the menu it said it came with Cesar dressing). They had to ask for dressing, which took a long time, and then were only given tiny cups of dressing. One of my friends had to ask for a second since it was such a small amount. Unsure if it was user error or what, but the salads were difficult to work out. The dressing, once they finally got it, was really good though. So if you come, & want a salad, be sure to either ask for the dressing right away or be prepared to have to work it out with the staff. The menu also said they have gluten free options for the pizza (my friend is VERY gluten sensitive) and the waitress immediately said no when asked about it & offered no explanation. However we asked her about it again and only then did she explain further that the gluten free pizzas were at a different location...? Still kinda confused why they had it on the menu then but oh well. read more

LITERALLY THE BEST PIZZA IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE literally so amazing love the environment, definitely is a very busy business but amazing food literally amazing and amazing service was very pleased my stomach was definitely pleased also haha definitely broke my scale on rating this place definitely deserves an 1003883999% waiter was very fast with food and sweet loved the service environment. read more

Pizza was AMAZING. You will also love the price. Service was very friendly and speedy. Might need to make another stop here. It's right along the busy side alleys and makes for good people watching. If you're trying to avoid the high costs of restaurants in Mark's Square but also appreciate good food, come here!!! read more
Came here on my last trip to Italy and really enjoyed it. Came back a second time and was not as impressed. The servers are not super friendly but they get your order and food out efficiently. They have a huge menu full of pasta and pizza options plus different small plates and appetizers. I ordered a spaghetti bolognese for my mom and it was piping hot, fresh out of the kitchen. The sauce was meaty and hearty. The noodles were just right. A very big portion That shareable. My gnocchi, however, was barely lukewarm and hard. By the time I ate half the plate, the other half was cold... It wasn't good. The sauce was good and the flavors were delicious but because it was cold, the gnocchi hardened and it tasted horrible. We also got Spritz to drink and that was refreshing with plenty of Aperol in the drink. read more
So.... we wondered the streets of Venice. Got lost and look up and see a name that I saw on Yelp when I researched the city. We were hungry and decided to give it a go. The place was busy but the prices were great. So we waited. The place is a lot bigger than it looks so the wait was not that long. Staff is great and attentive for how busy it was.And it was Christmas!!! It is cramped. So be prepared to squeeze in your chair..... which gets hard after carbo loading!! The food is more Neapolitan, pizza and pastas. We ordered a carbonara, bolognese and pizza for the table. We did share. The pizza was my SO favorite pizza for the trip for me it could have been in the oven a minute longer. It was still good. No tomatoes so a little bummed.. but we probably ordered wrong. The bolognese was my favorite and nice and hearty for a brisk Venice day. The carbonara was ok nothing amazing but still good. Bottom line. If this was the first restaurant in Italy we would have been blown away. It was legit for a gal from the states but for the rest of Italy... others were better. read more

Let me just say the food was spectacular! I definitely recommend this place. The pasta was amazing and so was the pizza. The best part was the desert. We had the calde calde. Definitely it's a must go! read more
