    The pizza...
    John D.

What is not to like about this place. Tucked on a back street of Hazleton. Ordered a 8 cut with meatball, a mini salad, and cheese fries with gravy on the side. Not fresh cut fries, but these were the good frozen type and the were good. Salad was excellent, dressing is very good. Pizza with meatballs and the Scamutz cheese. Wow.... I was happy we had leftover pizza for lunch the next day. 3 of us to eat for under $40.... Win Will be back for sure!!!

While the food is pretty good, it is not worth the wait. Service is marginal. Well over 1.5 hours once we finally got to place our order. Food came out sporadically, or not at all. If you go out to dinner with someone don't expect your food at the same time. The Sandwich ordered came out wrong, but my consolation was they left the fries for me to enjoy while I waited for the corrected version. They do leave the incorrect meal, I guess so they don't have to offer a discount or take it off the bill. Next time, which won't be for a while, I'll just cancel my order and go else where. Back again 10/03/18 ...ordered beers while we waited fo our anniversary pizza. One glass definitely bigger that the other. Bartender said they were the same amount/price. I called bullshit and we shared my husband's beer then poured the shorter glass n the taller, see pix...hmmmmmm

Chili cheese fries with a scamutz and sausage pizza from rosta's
    Gabe M.

At first glance, Rosta's appears to be an establishment that has not done any renovations for the last 20 years. I found the service to be marginal. The food was eh... and by "eh" it is nothing to rave about. I found the sauce on the pizza to be runny and the flavor to be palatable, but not memorable. The chili cheese fries were alright. The prices seem a touch high for the quality of food and service. Bottom line: If I had a friend who came from out of town and was looking for a place to have lunch or dinner in town, I would not send them to Rosta's.

The food is good but the prices are ridiculous. Paid $21 for an order of wings! That's outrageous!

That being said you cannot go wrong with the featured burger of the week. The space is stunning. My friend and I both felt as great as the food and architecture are, the service was outstanding. Not only did our hostess and waitress demonstrate a conviction and pride of the brand that they represented but they were friendly and engaging. If I lived 100 miles closer. I'd be there at least once a week to expand my waistline. We were also greeted by insistent manager, whose name I shamefully do not recall. She also demonstrated pride in the establishment and serving its customers. Although it's quite a ways from home, I have no doubt that I will be back until then. I will look forward to it. It's also worth noting that expecting a good pescatarian experience at a barbecue joint is more of a me problem. In terms of the space, it had a laid back feel. Not too fancy. Just a bar, with an outdoor patio out back. Lot's of wood surfaces. A good amount of space. It felt comfortable. In terms of the staff, they were generally very attentive. Not fine dining level, but about what you would expect at a neighborhood bar. They did the job and conversed with various customers. In terms of food, everything was fine. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos with a side salad. The side salad was fine. Fresh ingredients. Well presented. The tacos were clearly presented with care, but it felt like they need a little more flavor. Maybe more slaw or some hot sauce on the side. They felt a little meh, even if the presentation was nice. All told, this is a perfectly reasonable place to grab dinner and a beer. It's comfortable. It's open late.

We found this place because I was looking for somewhere I could get a beer and walk out and around the town of Jim Thorpe (I believe they allow it here). But ended up staying for the vibes and plus we were super hungry. I wish I remembered our waitresses name but I believe she had pink in her hair. She allowed me and my girlfriend to sample some beers that she thought we would like because we were hesitant and what to order. We got the sangria sour beer and the white ale which were perfect for us. We also saw online that everyone loved the smash burger so we had to try it. We added truffle fries for 3 dollars which was so worth it. Some of the best fries we have ever had. Also I think we decided it was the best smash burger we have ever had. We both have never tried bacon jam and we were a bit hesitant about the pimento cheese as well. I think my favorite moment from this trip was sitting at the bar here and eating this meal. Plus the burger lived up to the hype. Thank you to the waitress we had you made our day!

Three of us ordered Thai chicken and my wife ordered the Bangkok bowl. The ingredients were fresh and carefully selected, as the dish had a slightly sweet curry sauce on it. The chicken thigh was on top of a bed of short grain brown rice appropietly cooked for the dish. Veggies such as broccoli and eggplant were around the edges. The Bangkok bowl was slightly different as the samosas had a fair amount of heat to them. The waiter recommended mixing them with the rice and fried chickpeas, which worked well. For dessert, the rose and cardamom coffee glee had little rose flavor. I asked and they said it was infused as well as the garnish on top, but I failed to taste it. Ditto for the chocolate orange ganache, in which I could not taste the orange flavor. No points lost, the deserts were still better than average, not too sweet. Service was very good, the waiter loved to inform us of what to expect. Also, it was a good place for four of us to sit at a table and enjoy a conversation.
