Review of Roswell Historic Hall: A Bride's Nightmare I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with the service provided by Roswell Historic Hall during our wedding reception on April 27, 2024. Our experience was far below the expectations set during our initial meetings, leading to numerous issues that marred what should have been a joyous occasion. Shuttle Service: The shuttle service was a disaster. Despite scheduling pick-up times, the shuttle was over an hour late. Elderly guests, some requiring walkers and canes, were left standing for long periods. Many guests ended up walking to the venue, crossing Alpharetta Highway, which was unsafe and unacceptable. Additionally, several groups of guests waited over an hour for the shuttle to leave after the event, with the driver nowhere to be found. My father and other guests had to personally search for the driver behind the bar multiple times. Police Officer & Staff: Despite paying $500 for a police officer, no officer was present. This was a clear breach of our contract, and I demand an immediate refund. Initially, there was no bartender at the cocktail service, leaving guests to serve themselves. My friend had to ask for help with the margarita machine, only to be told to calm down when she needed assistance. The waitstaff were largely absent, choosing to hang out in the kitchen and tent area instead of serving guests. Food and Beverage: The quality and quantity of the food were extremely disappointing. The charcuterie display was tacky and insufficient for our 160 guests. Many guests, including my daughter, went hungry. The cocktail hour spread fell far short of what was promised. I had to ask for more food to be put out, which should not have been necessary. The champagne toast was another fiasco; I had to text you to start opening the champagne despite our prior discussion. Decorations and Cakes: The cookie table was not placed as agreed and was nearly empty when I checked it. I had to restock it myself, which is unacceptable. The cakes were displayed without any decorations, and the cake topper was not placed until I did it myself. The cake was not distributed to guests, resulting in a $700 loss as many guests did not receive any, and we had no leftovers to freeze for our anniversary. Organization: Throughout the evening, I had to make numerous phone calls and texts to address issues that should have been managed by your team. My husband and I repeatedly had to go behind the bar and kitchen to locate servers and items, causing unnecessary stress and disrupting the flow of the evening. You even approached me several times to ask if you could leave, despite knowing the event was not going well. Overall Experience: In summary, the level of service provided during our wedding was unacceptable. It tarnished what should have been a beautiful day and caused unnecessary stress and disappointment for us and our guests. The numerous failures in meeting the agreed-upon expectations have led me to demand a 30% refund of the total amount paid, which is $5,310. I expect a prompt response and resolution to this matter. I strongly urge you to address these issues to prevent similar experiences for future clients. This was supposed to be one of the most memorable days of our lives, and the service provided by Roswell Historic Hall was a complete failure. We contacted her about a year in advanced, and she was absolutely critical in minimizing the stress of planning for the wedding! We had pretty high expectations for our wedding, but Mahi and her team exceeded every single one of them. From the food, to the flower arrangements, to the brilliant decorations, everything was perfectly outstanding. Mahi and her entire team were such a pleasure to work with as well. Every vendor she pulled in (photographer, videographer, florist, etc) was very professional. When we needed additional transportation to our guests' hotel, or wanted to bring in a late night snack, Mahi made it extremely easy. My sister and her now husband recently got married and had the rehearsal at this venue. They were promised the wedding of their dreams for a great price and an all-inclusive experience. Mahi, the owner, was extremely unprofessional and aggressive on the day of the wedding and forgot all the details that my sister and brother-in-law requested. The rehearsal dinner lacked food options, cold beverages, seating and was not decorated as promised. The wedding day was COMPLETELY wrong. Mahi did not have the venue decorated upon arrival, the wedding party and family members had to step in to finish decorating the venue, resulting in missed family photos and quality time with the bride and groom. The worst part? Mahi used all the decorations for the event the next day. Essentially, my sister paid for two events and didn't enjoy either of them. read more

Do NOT Recommend - Bad Experience with Mahi The venue is beautiful, and the location is great. Our employees had a lot of fun, but we had several issues the night of the event that were very disappointing to say the least. As a result, I cannot recommend this venue and strongly advise those considering it to reconsider. If you're looking for a venue in historic Roswell, then I highly recommend Ivy Hall and the Garden at Great Oaks. I've had phenomenal experiences with them on more than one occasion - hands down 5 stars for both! We had several issues throughout the night and Mahi did not honor details in our signed agreement. In short: 1) we paid for two bartenders but there was only one, 2) the champagne was not passed out for the toast - guests had to walk to the bar and the person toasting had to wait for them to get their drink, 3) Mahi paid no attention to the timeline and I had to ask the servers to pass the appetizers and then later, to put out the food - both were running quite behind schedule and she was later found lounging in the changing room on her phone, 4) the food was not replenished so some guests did not get any meat, 5) Mahi added a last minute $700 additional charge for one of the two desserts allowed in our contract, 6) the wrong food was provided (she served spaghetti with meat sauce for our vegan employees even though I specified it should be marinara with vegetables and needed to be 100% vegan, she also put the green beans with the beef so the beans weren't vegan, the dinner "rolls" were hamburger buns, the salad was a bowl of lettuce with no dressing for awhile), 7) a couple that was not a part of our event was there having a taste testing during our event, 8) Mahi up and left in the middle of the event, 9) at the start of our event, the shuttle was not at the gazebo, which is where she told me to tell our guests they would be picked up; it was in another area of the parking lot (this created confusion among our guests). Mahi refuses to take any responsibility, offer an apology or reimburse us for the items we paid for but did not get. When I discussed the second bartender with Mahi, I was told by her that there were two bartenders there that night. She knew quite well there were not. That was a blatant lie. As I continued to address my other concerns with her, I was told that I was too picky and demanding. I was told that I did not pay her to ensure what we discussed actually happened and that once the food was out, she had no other responsibility. I was told that the bartender should have gone to find her servers to hand out the champagne and that it wasn't her responsibility to have communicated that to him. She was the one who hired the bartender, btw. He was her vendor, not ours. When I addressed the meat spaghetti that she provided instead of the vegan pasta, I was told that there were too many emails about the food and that there was plenty of other food for people to eat and that we even had food left over. Finally, she told me she didn't want me to book another event at RHH and thanked me for never booking another event. I have planned events for many years, and I have never, ever experienced anything like what I experienced with Mahi. In fact, every venue that I have worked with in the past 20+ years has been wonderful, except for Roswell Historic Hall. The two positive things to mention are that our employees had a great time - many of the issues were behind the scenes issues that our employees were not aware of; and second, our bartender, Pirooz, was wonderful. Mahi put him in a very bad spot, but he was professional, kind and did a great job serving 130+ people by himself. He also was a huge help in determining how much alcohol we needed for the event. He ordered it, picked it up, delivered it and boxed up what was left at the end of the night. I highly recommend him. Had our company holiday party here on a Thursday night. It was very clean and more spacious than you would expect. Not sure if we hired the DJ, but it was a little awkward. The downstairs bar is medium sized though the bartenders are a little confined and can't operate with more than two, three max back there. There is a bar upstairs though for large gatherings that would be clutch. There was more parking than we expected, (though we had expected zero.) The food staff was friendly and quick to clear empty plates, though they were a little shy, not sure if that is by design. We provided our own alcohol and they were quite liberal with serving which was nice ... a little too nice because of how some of us felt the next day. read more

We booked Roswell Historic Cottage for our wedding. We had a short engagement and had to get the planning started quickly. We began the process with Mahi. She was very nice - not the monster that the previous reviews portray. We submitted a deposit to secure our day and signed the contract. After our initial meetings with Mahi, my fiancé and I moved to Cleveland, OH. The rest of our contact with the venue had to be done mostly from afar. During this time, I worked with Amir via phone and email to hammer out details and to submit the rest of our payment. I was easily able to get an appointment for a venue walk-through with my caterer prior to the wedding - about a month out. Mahi let us in and let us conduct our business. I did get a little thrown off by a group of reviews left on the venue's Facebook page. It's apparent that a prior client was disappointed with their experience at RHC and had many of their friends + family leave one star reviews to back them up. To be more specific, they mentioned a leak in the venue which really got me worried. However... I contacted Amir, he reassured me, and we had NO issues with leaks during our event. Our wedding was pretty DIY. We had friends help us out with coordinating, decorating, flipping to reception, etc. Everything went SO smooth considering. We had 126 guests (to give you an idea of size) and it didn't feel too snug. We put the buffet upstairs so that no guests were separated from the rest. This didn't pose an issue to anyone - plates were brought down to the grandparents! Amir stopped by during the wedding to make sure everything was going smoothly - and it was. Our night was beautiful. RHC is a great backdrop for any special event. The inside is so beautiful as it is, we didn't do too much decorating / we didn't have to. To sum it up, some of these reviews got me wondering if RHC was too good to be true. (The price is right!) BUT... now, after going for it anyway, I can definitively say that it's not. It's amazing. My review is being removed from Wedding Wire because I didn't enter into a contract with this vendor, so I thought I'd share my review here. I'm not usually one to publicly shame a business, but my experience with the Roswell Historic Cottage is absolutely deserving of it and I would love to spare others from having the same experience. About two years ago, myself, my then-fiance, my mom, and my fiancé's mom went to meet with the owner/manager of the Roswell Historic Cottage and take a tour. The owner/manager seemed nice at first until the meeting started. He opened with budget and financial questions which prompted my fiancé and his mom to walk around and leave me and my mom to discuss. The owner immediately stopped talking and very rudely said "Is she (FMIL) a part of this meeting? We'll take a tour later." I was actually speechless and truth be told probably should have ended the meeting there. I didn't want anyone to feel like we wasted a trip (it was over a 1 hour drive one way for us), so I explained that she wanted to be respectful of my mom and I while we discussed the financial aspects with him. He continued with the meeting, including making it very clear that HIS vendors are the best, and he wants couples to meet with them before they decide to provide their own vendors. When we actually got to the tour there wasn't much to see and it felt like he was trying to rush through. Some specifics on the venue: it's an old library that has been renovated as an event space. The floor was dropped and the ceiling raised to accommodate a loft area, leaving mismatched brick exposed throughout. Parking is a nightmare. The main parking lot (with 10 whole parking spots) is located off a one way street that has no access to it unless you drive the wrong way down a one way street. FMIL noticed white paint all over the floor at the front near the ceremony area. My mom noticed tags were still hanging off the lights strung from the ceiling. There is no groom's suite and a very small bridal suite that allows almost no room for getting ready. There is one bathroom, to which the bride's only access is to walk out of the bridal "suite" and into the ceremony area. Basically hope you don't have to pee after the guests start arriving. This would be a cool place to host any kind of event that's not a wedding, except for the parking issue, but I still wouldn't even recommend it for that because the owner was such a pompous jerk. read more

Our experience at RHC was incredible. Amir and the staff of Bebe Cuisine helped us to host our first ever nonprofit Gala there, and it was a 100% win. The environment was beautiful -- perfect for a Christmas time gala and required almost no set up from us. Amir was accommodating and incredibly generous -- he even asked the organization using the space the night before if they would donate their centerpieces to our event! He even helped us with some of the load out at the end of the evening. The staff were top notch, very friendly and the food was excellent. We reached all of our fundraising and friend raising Goals for the night and I know it was due to the beautiful and amazing experience that Amir, RHC and Bebe cuisine provided. read more

This venue was the BEST decision my husband and I made for our whole wedding planning roller-coaster! Mahi, the owner, is the most professional, generous, calm person and she let me and my wedding planner pester her with such graciousness! It's was all pros for us, but let me just count the ways this venue stood out above all other similar wedding venues: PRICE: We spent less than $2000 booking the place, including police, valet, and a clean-up crew. LIQUOR/FOOD: One of the few venues that lets you stock your own bar, hire your own bartenders, and BRING IN YOUR OWN CATERERS. This is HUGE!!!!! Saved us about $12,000 compared to other venues of similar size and beauty. BEAUTY: The venue is one giant room with crystal chandeliers, exposed brick, a glossy granite topped and mirror-backed bar, and an upstairs lounge area with hardwood floors. It was modern, but has traditional romantic touches that gave our wedding a loft-style expensive feel. SIZE: we packed 180 people into the space and it felt full, but not crowded. The upstairs was great for people who didn't want to dance, and the built-in stage in the venue was perfect for our 3 piece band. All in all, you cannot go wrong, this place was a life-saver. Attended a wedding here recently. The room looked beautiful, and the bar staff were friendly. However, I felt a few things were lacking. The food was mediocre (they served frozen veggies). More problematic: the photographer was unprofessional, dressed poorly, and then tried to leave the event early (before all the "wedding checkpoints" were complete). But worst of all, the woman in charge of the venue, Mahi, was rude to guests. Repeatedly. Unacceptable. There is absolutely no excuse for being rude to wedding guests. Also, there wasn't a microphone stand. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it made it awkward for the person officiating the ceremony who needed to juggle the mic with other things. Seems like a basic thing that should be on hand...Anyway, the room did look lovely, and the flowers were gorgeous. But the poor behaviour or of the owner and unprofessional decorum of the photographer left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

This review is for anyone who may be using their own videographer for an event here. Shooting a video or photos at a wedding is very much a tag team thing. As a videographer I'm used to working with photographers after only being introduced to them on the day of the event. There is generally a greeting and a quick agreement to work the dance of not getting in each other's shots. It's a professional courtesy to agree to make sure you both have the opportunity to provide an excellent product to your client.The young lady that shot photos for this wedding was the WORST. To make matters worse, she gave the couple no instruction because she wasn't even communicating with them. So basically, they paid her to shoot candids. Bottom line, her attitude was horrible!!! She was rude, condescending and completely unprofessional. When items like the dress or rings are staged, it's a given that both video and photo will be taken. She rudely tried to dismantle things before video shots could be taken. She jumped in front of my shots on several occasions. The last straw was when she spoke rudely to my assistant and at that point I had to let her know. We're all here to do a job for our client, don't interfere with us and we certainly won't interfere with you. This shouldn't have to be said. The venue was great, but word to the wise... hire your own videographer and photographer who can work together as professionals or risk having no photos worth anything of your special day. read more

I got married 10.13.2018 here and we had an amazing wedding! My family and friends loved the place. The owner Amir is amazing, he actually took the time to get to know us. He was definitely a God send! The last few weeks I was stressing out and he answered every question we had. He managed to get us the wine color table clothes and he added a gold runner on the tables that made everything flow. He went over and beyond to make our day. We also used the catering company there and the food was amazing. Our guests loved the Mexican street tacos we had. They tasted very authentic, the chef definitely nailed it! I COULDN'T HAVE CHOSEN A MORE PERFECT VENUE! Amir was a wonderful coordinator. There were a few times I got so nervous/anxious because I was experiencing fear of the unknown and when he told, "I got it"....HE GOT IT! Everything was so beautifully executed at my wedding. I had both the ceremony and reception at RHC. I had the ceremony on the 1st floor, cocktail hour on the 2nd floor and the reception on the first floor. All the decorations, centerpieces, linens, etc were so perfect. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was exactly how I envisioned. Another cool part was since the venue is on Canton Street, I chose to walk around with my bridal party and photographer and we were celebrated by all the people along Canton Street. It was so nice that random people took part in my special day. A big plus with choosing RHC was the vendor list. No, not a preferred vendor list...it's a list of all the people the venue uses so it's a one stop shop (for lack of a better word/phrase). I didn't have to look up additional vendors and keep track of it. Amir was in charge of the vendors and they were there, on time, if not early. DJ Bluue - was great! So easy to work with, very responsive and showed up early. I preferred he didn't take requests from guests and he listened very well to my request. I'd highly recommend him. MomoLuxe (photographer) - did a great job with the photographs I wanted to capture. She was so excited for my big day and that showed and felt very nice. I cannot wait to see the final photos, because the few I previewed from her camera were magical! Hamilton Flowers - did the centerpieces and Irina did a perfect job with capturing the feel/vibe. I loved the floating candles and the gold vases, along with the baby's breath flowers. Beautiful. Bebe's Catering - NAILED IT!!! I'm not a huge meat eater, but I wanted seconds (and even thirds). We splurged for the beef medallions (so glad we did). They were cooked perfectly. Absolutely delicious. We also chose the Lemon Picata Chicken - and that was THE best chicken I've ever had. My family agreed, too. The sides were delicious and seasoned very well, without being too salty. I'm still craving the food. I had an absolutely magical, romantic, fairy-tale wedding and it was because of everyone involved. I highly recommend RHC, Amir, and all his vendors! The venue is beautiful and a convenient location. We had a great time during our wedding and our guests loved the canton street downtown location. We went with the catering package deal and while the food was amazing they ran out and two full tables (16 people!) had to go and buy dinner elsewhere. We only found out from our guests weeks after the wedding as nobody told us. We paid for extra food and this was the thing we cared about most - it was embarrassing and a let down. The set up of the buffet only allowed for one line for 120 people so it was very slow moving. From what I understand, there was only rice and a bowl of salad left for the last table of 8. They had guests serve themselves so it is possible that some guests took more than they should of have but there is no excuse for running out of food at a wedding and they should have accounted for this if they were letting guests serve themselves. I called and confronted Mahi after I found out about this happening and she denied it and said I was offending her for bringing it up... she was not even there towards the end of dinner so I asked her to ask her waitstaff.. she said she would and never contacted me again. Also, we paid for bartenders to serve until 11:30 and before Mahi left she went up and told the DJ and the bartenders to call last call at 10:30 without our knowledge. When we asked the bartenders about it they said they had to leave at 11 even though we paid until 11:30. Really disappointing as when guests heard last call they started leaving earlier. read more

The venue layout would be perfect for a small rustic wedding under 100 guests because let be honest no one wants to sit upstairs far from the buffet. The venue comes with chairs and tables. There is no restroom in the bridal suite.The restroom is located near the entrance. So once you are in the "bridal suite"/office, you're stuck! Unless you want everyone to see the bride running across the ballroom before the ceremony. The owner Mahi was helpful and very responsive to my questions and needs. However the property was operated very inefficiently. If you have visited this venue you will soon realized that there are very few parking spaces around the property. When booking this venue, we were promised complimentary valet parking for 200 cars which solved our parking concern. On my wedding day there was under 140 adults which means no more than 100 cars max. I arrived to the venue at 4:30 pm and couldn't find parking space. The valet attendant eventually parked my car because we told them it was the bride's car. I was also told by most of my guests who came between 5:00-7:00 pm that they had to self-park because the valet attendant told them the parking was full. So it seems like the valet service was for the whole shopping center not exclusively for RHC event. Another problem, the reason we book this venue is because it's available from 10:00 Am -2:00 Am. We planned to end at 11:00 pm then cleanup and pack up. However, after 10:30 pm we were under the impression that our party was rushed out of the venue by 11:00 pm by the security guard Joyce. My bridal party were urged to move our decorations and press to clean the venue floor with a small broom which RHC HAD ALREADY CHARGED ME FOR CLEAN UP FEE. I have help plan a lots of weddings and this is the first venue where we have to sweep the floor before leaving. The next morning Mahi told me that we had too much flower petals on the ground that she had to request "extra cleaning". Which I thought was quite unprofessional because if they had charged for a cleanup fee then they shouldn't be complainting about carrying the work. It's definitely not the client problem if they didn't have the tools to clean efficiently. After our wedding, I was embarrassed with my guests and had to call everyone to apologize for their hassle and unpleasant experience. A few other reviewers have mention about the door attendant being late, getting their linens rental canceled last minute, and not getting their full deposit refund. I have taken the liberty to avoid those incidents by calling ahead and having my own linens. However overall I feel that this venue is not beautiful or cheap enough for the headache. read more

First, let me say that if I had written this review on the day that I booked the venue over a year ago, it would have been much like the others. The showing process was great, Mahi (the owner) seemed pleasant and helpful, and the venue was absolutely beautiful. It seemed perfect for the 100 person reception we planned following our wedding. Two days before the reception, things started to get weird. When I originally paid for the venue, I was under the impression that I had paid the deposit (which in my experience has been half the venue fee) and the remainder for the total amount I was going to owe. The day I came to sign final paperwork, I found out that we owed another $750 for the deposit. In the grand scheme of things when planning a wedding and reception, that's not all that much, and I'm glad we had extra room in the budget. Plus, Mahi assured me I would get it back if nothing went awry. The morning of the reception, my wedding coordinator and I went to the venue to start setting up. It was then that we learned that the linens are not included in the venue rental, but can be rented for $8 a table. Fine. That's not a big deal, plus what else were we supposed to do. The party was in less than 6 hours. The "white" linens were low quality, certainly not good enough for a $8/per rental fee. They were stained and holes were burned in some of them (I assume from candles). They were so thin and cheap that you could see the tables through them and some of the tables were marred enough to show through. Mahi was again, seemingly accommodating, giving us "free of charge" extra linens to double up on the tables where there was an issue. After those frustrations, I put it out of my head, went and got ready and we had an FABULOUS party. I mean, like I said at the beginning, it was awesome. By this point, I knew that the bartender fee was coming out of the second deposit I made, and the security officers and linens. Still, I expected to get a significant part of it back. Fast forward almost 3 months, I still haven't received my reimbursement check from Mahi. So I call and leave a voicemail asking her to call me back. A week goes by with no reply, so I call again during her business hours (I live on the west coast so the first time I called it was after hours) and got her on the line. We discussed the check, and she assured me that it had been mailed and that she had no idea why it wasn't delivered already. We determined that since we had moved between signing the contract and now, she sent it to the old address. So I went and checked with the people who live there now. They hadn't received anything for us (and they usually come bring it to us if they do). So I called back but it was after hours and I left a voicemail explaining the situation. The next morning, she texts me explaining that she mailed the check to #639 of the address I put on the contract. My handwriting isn't that bad, and I had written #634. Simple mistake to make. Anyone could have made it. That wasn't the frustrating part. #639 is corporate housing and they don't keep mail from previous residents for obvious reasons. So it seemed simple to me, send the refund check to the correct address. Not only did Mahi argue with me about which address she sent it to, blaming ME for not communicating the correct address, even though she said she sent it to #639, not #634, and changed her story a couple times, the amount on the check was in question. I was only going to receive $92 back (less the $35 STOP fee for the "lost" check, which is still somehow my fault). Let's do the math: the $35 Officer Fee (for 4 hours) I signed for, was actually $35/hour (which the contract DOES in fact specify in the small print but on the front page it only says $35) and we were there for 6 hours (so that's $210, rather than $35 for four hours and overtime for the 2 over, about $60) we had 13 tables, so that's $104, but we were charged for 16 because of needing to cover the tables with two cloths ($128) and the bartender was $320 including tip (which I was expecting) So $750-320-60=$370 Instead, because of the shady contract writing and Mahi's unclear communication, I was sent a check for $92 to the wrong address. Now I will receive a check for $57 because she will charge me for the "lost check" which she sent to the wrong address. It makes me wonder if the other brides who have written these reviews had any idea what kind of money was spent and where it went because if we hadn't been paying for it ourselves, all of this would have been swept under the carpet and it would have seemed like a really, really terrific venue and owner experience. TL;DR The venue is beautiful and if you don't mind paying for whatever the owner decides your should pay for things, then you should book it. If you care about staying on budget and not being nickeled and dimed the day before/of your wedding when there's no other option, then don't. Also, it's totally not a cottage. read more

My new wife and I had the pleasure of celebrating our wedding at the Roswell Historic Cottage this past weekend. It was an incredible experience - the venue is absolutely beautiful, the ability to customize was easy, and the overall booking process and communication was seamless. My wife researched high and low for an affordable venue that allowed for a fully-customized experience. This was key for us as that many venues REQUIRED clients to use their alcohol packages, catering services, etc. While many engaged couples are on a budget and are conscientious of that budget, we were especially in tune with our budgeting as we were covering all of our costs ourselves. The Roswell Historic Cottage permits clients to BYOB, hire their own catering services, hire their own entertainment, use their own linens, and use their own decorations (within reason - no stapling/nailing to walls...as long as clients do not damage property). This information is readily available in the first meeting with the owner, Mahi, and is also specified in the contract. When submitting payment for the venue, you are paying for the space and use of their facilities only - they have round tables, rectangle tables, and cocktail tables along with chairs and their own decorations included in the use of their venue. With the exposed brick, chandeliers, black metal beams, bird cages, pedestals, tall crystal candle holders, and built-in bars, we did not have to overextend ourselves with our own decorations as the Roswell Historic Cottage stood beautifully on its own. Remember, the Roswell Historic Cottage does not provide staff to help facilitate your event, this is done by the services you have hired. However, VALET is included in your contract and is either covered by your guests' tips OR you may tip them directly yourselves prior to the event so that your guests do not have to tip. The Roswell Historic Cottage is valet-parking only. For the couples who would rather a more package deal, the Roswell Historic Cottage does provide an entire wedding service for 120+ guests which includes photog/catering/non-alcoholic services/cake/dj/etc for a lump sum. Mahi is absolutely wonderful. She was always prompt and direct in her responses. She was very easy to work with and provided a comfortable and personable experience. Mahi was very willing to discuss any concerns and answer any questions. She never pressured us into any of the preferred vendors, additional services, renting their linens, etc...she always commented that it was an option but we were free to do what we'd like. There was honestly nothing more we could have asked from her. She recently converted what was the office into a beautiful bridal suite which allowed for my new bride and me to duck into when we needed just a moment alone or a quick bite to eat during our wedding. Mahi and the Roswell Historic Cottage simplified the wedding planning experience in the most beautiful, seamless way. Do not use this place!!!! I booked the Cottage for my Mom's celebration of life. When I met with the Owner (twice) to discuss what I wanted she came off like a best friend, so nice. The venue itself is beautiful! The so called catering she did was horrible. I felt like she forgot she was having an event and went to a bakery for day old desserts and made the rest of the so called appetizers herself. It was awful! She forgot to get anything for my guest to drink (how do you forget that)!!!For over an hour we had only water. Finally she sent some to the store and set two plastic jugs of lemonade and tea on the counter! This venue is not cheap $3000.00 to rent and then $30 pp for the so called heavy appetizers. It was not a dinner but she had the tables set as if we were serving a five course meal! She admitted to me she changed the menu from what I wanted to make it healthier for my guest....totally not her call to make. She knows what I received was NOT at all what we discussed but will not budge on the price she charged me. Beware and make sure it is all listed on the so called contract you sign. read more

Tends to promise a lower price on the phone only to bump it once you get there - location is good but I don't like the strategy of luring in and wasting time. 2. Openly bias in his view on people based on caste, creed, and ethnic background. "You should see how much I charge the Whites.." and things of that nature. I had my wedding at Roswell Historic Cottage and I don't think I could have had a better experience. Mahi was wonderful to work with and made planning almost stress-free. I didn't have a lot of opinions about decor and flowers, so I decided to trust her expertise and she really came through for me. The venue was absolutely beautiful, the food was great and everyone had a an amazing time. If I had to do it all over, I would choose Roswell Historic Cottage again and again. To all the brides out there, if you want to have a smooth wedding night and if you want everything to go as you wish and as you want, you need to go to Roswell Historic Hall and work with Mahi. The venue is absolutely beautiful, great location, and on top of that the way Mahi designs the venue for your special night, is just another level. Mahi is also a great and patient person to work with and plan your wedding with. She is extremely supportive, has lots of options for you, helps you decide, and at the end makes everything happen the way you want it. I was a picky bride (I confess it) and our wedding was a big wedding, but literally everything, absolutely everything, went the way I wanted that night (including all the details that I had asked her). Also... I have to mention that the food was amazing and lots of our guests mentioned it was the best wedding food they ever had. My son had his wedding reception at the Cottage last weekend and everything was perfect The inside of the building is deceiving from the outside, once you walk in its beautiful with the lights strung from the ceiling. Do NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS VENUE!!!! Amir the owner and his sister Mahi scammed, lied and defrauded my husband and I. They will not comply to their own contract, change terms on you and not keep their word on anything they promise. The venue FLOODED big time and he tried to say it was because my caterer moved the ice machine. Why would a caterer move the ice machine? My crew mopped up the water ALL night, nobody from the venue was found. And he said it was because they moved the ice machine, but I have pics of the SINK flooding. My dress and my bridesmaids dresses were ruined. The venue was HOT. He promised he'd return our deposit. Then he backtracked and said he couldn't give us nearly $1,000 because chairs were left outside, HIS SECURITY GUARD TOLD HIM TO LEAVE THERE. Oh, and speaking of security guards, we paid $200 for a security guard neither of us saw ALL NIGHT. My usher saw him around back eating my caterers food, however. The look of the place is NOT worth the trouble. read more

We had our rehearsal dinner at Roswell Historic Cottage last month and it was absolutely fabulous! This is the perfect space for a big rehearsal dinner or large party (guest count 80-250 comfortably). If you're looking for a large, affordable space with good bones and lots of character - this is it. We worked with Mahi and Amir, the brother and sister team who own and manage Roswell Historic Cottage, from beginning to end of the process. They were courteous, efficient, took our phone calls (though email response was sometimes slow), and generously allowed us to walk through the space multiple times during the almost 9 months of planning, answering questions and offering suggestions. We brought in our own caterer, bar, DJ and decorations (Adele's on Canton was the caterer...which I also highly recommend), but tables, chairs, linens, napkins, chargers, lighting, security and shuttle parking were all through Roswell Historic Cottage which made things SO much easier than having to bring in those basics. The pricing was moderate-to-low and Amir even threw in some complimentary add-ons (like the gold chargers we wanted under our plates)...which just goes to show it pays to be nice! Our team of groomsmen showed up on the day-of to set up and were in and out in no time thanks to the space being in such good shape already. Amir had the tables and chairs out to be rearranged as we saw fit. Linens, napkins and chargers were set out neatly, and we were lucky enough to benefit from the awesome strung lights still up from a previous event. Amir even called me a few days before the dinner to ask if we would like to go in on an upgrade one of his other brides was asking for (long farm tables instead of the 60" round tables...a very "in" look right now) - we didn't choose to upgrade, but I found the offer to be very considerate. In the venue, there is a bar with tons of counter/storage space and a sink, a back room for the caterer to use (not a full kitchen), and a bridal suite where we stored our things (and I did a quick costume change). Our caterer and DJ arrived later in the afternoon for their set up with no problems, and by the time we arrived at 7:00pm the whole space looked gorgeous! It was a pretty easy team effort for our group. The parking situation is a little tricky, thanks to some city ordinances which have pretty much killed their ability to valet park guests. It would be amazing if Roswell Historic Cottage had a full dedicated parking lot (and I'm sure they agree), but they do not. We asked what they could offer to do and here it is... for the same price we would've paid for the valet service, we got free parking for our guests in the City Hall parking lot across the street, and a free shuttle which ran our guests back and forth all night long. Not exactly red carpet treatment but that didn't bother us. We sent detailed instructions to our guests, along with a picture of the gazebo where the shuttle would be picking up/dropping off, and everyone seemed to manage just fine. The City Hall parking lot is also walking distance from the venue...if you're not in heels. Our rehearsal dinner ran smoothly and was a hell of a lot of fun. It was cool inside all evening, even though it was 90 degrees and rainy outside, and we never felt stifled, rushed or watched. **NOTE: I highly recommend hiring a caterer who will manage timing and clean up well...we got incredibly lucky with Adele's.** At the end of the night (we aimed for 11pm to give us an hour for clean-up, but the venue will allow events until 2am) we packed up our decorations, threw out any leftover garbage that the caterer had missed, and piled all the linens together. We were not charged any additional fee for cleaning and received our full deposit back a month later. I can only assume that those giving poor reviews about the cleanup didn't understand the whole DIY aspect of this type of venue. As the girl scouts say..."Leave it better than you found it." NOTE: We were a little stumped as to where to throw the garbage out...I later heard someone found a dumpster (?), but it might be worth going over those details with Amir as you plan your night, just to be safe. I've gone into such detail describing our event because I hope it will be helpful for future clients of Roswell Historic Cottage. This venue is really just so charming, we are still getting rave reviews and compliments about it, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a Pinterest-worthy, DIY kind of space. It was exactly what we were hoping for. Tips: 1. Hire an AWESOME caterer (ahem..Adele's on Canton was IN.CRED.IBLE.) 2. Read your contract 3. Have an in-person meeting with Mahi and/or Amir at the venue and ask tons of questions/go through the details 4. If you want music or sound you will have to hire someone or rent equipment (Amir can help with that if you need it...he's also great finding hotels at good rates!) 5. If I could rate them at 0 I would. Horrible service. Booking for a wedding reception and as I was asking questions, Amir had the smartest foul mouth on him that I could barely believe my ears. As I told him his costumer service was horrible he hung up on me. I called a different number on a different website hoping and praying it was just a terrible employ just to learn it's a brother and sister ownership and she was just as rude. After being accused of "fishing for information", being screamed at, spoke over and degraded... I was at a loss of words. Wouldnt you expect a few basic questions? I know nothing of your venue. There are questions that people need answers to... I am disappointed but more than anything grateful I am not putting my money into an ungrateful, rude, company. Absolutely disgusting. Beware of these people. If you weed through the reviews (which are most likely people they know) you will find similar reviews to mine that shed light on the rude, horrible ownership of this venue. 10/10 do not recommend. read more

We recently had our wedding at the RHC, and the venue is beautiful, the owner is super accommodating, and the fees are comparatively reasonable. The BYOB option is awesome! I loved that they let you rent the space for the ENTIRE day, not limited to 2 hours for set up, 5 hours for the party, etc. I would give them a 5 star review, except on the day of our wedding there was a hideous smell coming from the ladies' bathroom, I finally had to task my MOH's husband with fixing it, turned out to be a dead rodent. I can understand in the fall, that may happen, but the fact that the door to that bathroom was propped open when we got there (to try to air out the stench) isn't cool. They were clearly aware of the issue and didn't take proactive measures to fix it (before a wedding!). Overall, I'd recommend this place. read more

We had our wedding at RHC last year and the three star rating is b/c it was "just ok". The venue is pretty inside and looks nice in photos with the brick and lighting, and the rates are super affordable but you should know that the rate is really just for the venue to be open. There is very little support around even the basics of the venue. Let's start with PROS: 1) Price & a la carte options - Love that you can pay to rent the space and bring your own vendors. 2) Rustic and pretty inside the building. 3) Bar area - nice little nook for a designated bar area (versus just a table) 4) Upstairs balcony area; we weren't sure how we were going to make this area work for us but we ended up putting the photo booth and games up there and it actually worked out well. Okay now CONS: 1) Communication was prompt, but I showed up for a final walk through apt, and Mahi was no where to be found (something with her kids came up). I ended up running into Amir (which was my first time meeting him) and he was very casual in his responses... which made me feel like he was interested or taking my comments seriously. Which takes me to my next point... 2) The morning of our wedding, the room was set up for a reception dinner (not a ceremony). My people had to break down the existing setup before they could set the chairs for the ceremony. This added an hour to the set up time and put us in a crunch preparing for the ceremony. We expected either an empty room or a room set up as we specified to Mahi. STRESSFUL. I texted Amir to let him know and he insisted that room with the tables were setup as we agreed to. It was not. I don't even know how he imagined what "aisle I would be walking down"? Between tables, I guess?? Hello?? Wedding ceremony? 3) HOT HOT HOT! We were told by Gustavo where to find the thermostats and turned them down as far as possible...but it was SO HOT inside the building. Our guests were sweating their shirts out before dinner was even served! Granted, it was a hot day, but when you walk into the building you should feel the A/C. I was dying in the bridal suite as well. It didn't cool down until after the sun set. I don't think their A/C is big enough for the space. I would highly recommend hosting your summer event here after the sun goes down for a more comfortable temperature. 4) The outside of the building was littered with ladders, hoses, tools, and other random debris. It was less than appealing for photos, and our photographer had to work to find an area to take photos around the building that didn't have some rubbish in the background. If you really look around, you can tell there is not much attention given to the outside landscape or maintenance of the building. 5) Cocktail hour under the tent was just meh. Just tables under a tent and the tent is in pretty shabby shape. Nothing elegant at all. We did what we could to glam it up, but it really is just a tent in the parking lot. In summary - just know that though the pricing is great, you truly only get the building. I would HIGHLY advise booking a full wedding coordinator if you book this venue. We had a day of coordinator but even with her, it was a hustle to get all the details with this venue worked out. The venue and their "packages" are just not clear and there really isnt any one who is there to coordinate building operations. Gustavo was given as our day of POC but he is the maintenance/set up guy and that's about it. I would also ensure you have all three contacts on hand for the day of your event. RHC does give you a list of their recommended vendors upon booking, and their vendors are great! read more

We recently hosted an event for 100 at the Roswell Historic Cottage. Mahi was very easy to work with and she offered great suggestions for room set-up. We enjoyed having the whole afternoon to decorate for evening party and the ability to use our own caterer/servers was appreciated. I would've given the RHC a 5-star rating if it weren't for the parking situation. Some of our guests were asked to pay $10 for parking, and others were turned away and had to find paid parking lots in the historic area. Thankfully, it was a beautiful night so our guests didn't mind walking. I just wish I had know that they'd be turned away if the adjacent lot was full. I only had 30-35 cars that needed parking and I told that to Mahi ahead of our event. They should've been accommodated on the spot. One other thing to note: Some of the cushioned chairs that come free with the rental are getting stained. If you are picky about this sort of thing, rent chairs or chair covers at the very least. read more
