Your stuff will get stolen, you will be bullied, staff will do nothing about it, depending on which…read moremanager you get stuck with will depend on whether or not he or she will bail on you for random reasons, they don't actually help you get into a place, if you tell on your roommate for doing drugs in your room your roommate will put it in your bed and get you thrown out, the food is disgusting most of it is expired or just god awful, if you end up going to the hospital and you decide to take the wristband off and don't get your discharge paperwork you get kicked out because you're supposed to wear The wristband and get the paperwork, nobody actually tries in there, you're literally just a paycheck to them especially if you are on disability a veteran or an elderly person and therefore you get SSI or SSDI or survivor benefits because they make more money off of you and you are there for their paycheck because it is supposed to be a non-profit organization but the catch 22 is they make money off of you by getting it out of your paycheck because the state pays them to take care of you and they don't do a very good job about it, you are nothing more than a way of money for the homeless shelter of salvation army and everybody on this website has been mistaking the homeless shelter for the thrift store they are two totally different places you are all marking down good reviews on the homeless shelter when you think you're marking it down on the thrift store.

We visited the International Owl Center for one of their programs a few weeks ago. We paid $18 for…read moretwo people and it was definitely worth it, especially if you love owls and care about conservation. We arrived early and had time to walk around an check out their adorable gift shop. Even if you can't make it to a program, the gift shop alone is worth a stop and the proceeds go to an amazing cause. There were 3 owls present for our program but Ruby was the star of the show and the only one to be brought out for viewing. Our speaker advised that there are typically 5 owls present but they have to be transported to the center daily and if they don't feel like coming, they are not made to. I love that! JR the Eastern Screech Owl was also there but he never really came out so I could get a look at him (although I did hear him once and his little "screech" was nothing like I expected!) and Bea the burrowing owl was also there. She was my absolute favorite with her dainty size and her sweet, although shy, disposition. I never even knew there owls that nest underground before seeing her. We learned a lot about these amazing animals and things we can do to help them and although our program was full of adults and seniors, I think this would be a really great thing to do with children. For instance, through an exhibit about wingspan, we learned that my husband has the wingspan of a Blakiston's Fish Owl and I have the wingspan of a Eurasian Eagle Owl. They have plenty of interesting exhibits about the different sizes and types of owls and we made sure to "Make a pledge to save owls" before leaving. They also sell artwork from the community and are working very hard to raise money for a new facility for these beautiful creatures so I recommend coming to visit if you are able and having a nice time while helping a very good cause.

Gift shop has a wonderful assortment of owl themed products. Also- the kids art from all around the world is amazing. Please support the owls and this wonderful Owl Center.

What a great store! I can't think of a time I was ever disappointed in my Onalaska store. I have…read morefound so many fantastic project items that I don't have time to get them all done! And for those people who complain about the prices, if I think it's too high, I don't buy it-just like any other store!! And furthermore, since I don't round up at the registers, I am happy to know that the money I do spend there is supporting their work programs. Tanya does an awesome job as manager and you can see how her efforts are reflected in her team and the superb way they take care of their store. Thank you!! Julie M.

My kid and I were in La Crosse and decided to stop in at the Goodwill there. My son saw a dozen or…read moreso video games on the shelf next to a pricing sign. He picked three video games that he was interested in and we took them up to the counter along with a few other small items we found. The cashier looked at us and asked where did we get these (games)? My kid and I and I looked at each other wondering what was going on. My son explained that these and other games were over on the shelf in the direction he pointed. The cashier said he would not sell us the video games as it was against their store policy to sell video games in store. Which by the way is totally different then our local Goodwill. And my kid asked how can you put out merchandise for sale and then refuse to sell it. The cashier was not a happy camper and called for the shift manager. She too questioned how we got these games. And my kid explained again they and other video games were on the shelf and pointed over there. She too refused to sell them to my son. My kid was upset to say the least but remained reasonably polite, but demanded that they sell him the games since they obviously put them out on the shelf to be sold. If they made a mistake, that wasn't his fault. Yet we were being treated quite poorly as far as I was concerned. Finally the manager relented and sold him the three games. I didn't realize a store could stock their shelves with merchandise and then tell you too bad, so sad. Totally unprofessional. It's a shame that I even have to give them a one star rating to post a review. I'll spend my money elsewhere in the future when I'm in La Crosse.
