Great spot to look for a quick lunch. Their sushi is fresh! Their service at the sushi counter is always great.

Clean store, friendly cashiers, product availability is high. Like that the step remains the same as the other... Unlike other big box stores. I found pricing to be consistent with the other Rouses & in-line with competitors. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE that they recycle the plastic shopping bags. Hello WINNING!!!!!!

This review is specifically about the bakery. I ordered a cake on a Thursday. Needed it Saturday morning. No problem. The woman on the phone was courteous and pleasant. The cake is gorgeous, delicious, and huge. I always get special occasion cakes from this Rouses and the one in Mid City, but this cake was so pretty I had to stop and write a review.

This is the most conveniently located Rouses for me to pick up dinner ingredients after work. The parking lot is much more easily accessible (read: less crowded) then Whole Foods or the one on Veterans. It has also been renovated and is very clean and spacious. I still don't understand how the produce section baskets are organized though. As mentioned earlier, there is a ridiculously huge wine and liquor selection. Yesterday, I wanted to buy a whole chicken and have it cut up for me but they didn't have any in the glass meat display (which is about half the size of the seafood display; go figure). The employee behind the counter asked if he could help me, told me to pick out a fryer and he would cut it and repackage it for me. So nice! I also noticed that they have many more pre-prepared foods (you know, like at WF, where veggies are pre-cut or meats are stuffed/marinated), but unlike the WF ones, they are much more regional in nature, such as boneless boudin-stuffed chickens. I bought some sausage-stuffed mushrooms that I can't wait to eat. The lines are never long indoors either. The prices aren't bad; it's not Walmart or Target cheap, of course, but they do make an effort to offer local and organic produce that is still very affordable.

This is one of my favorite Rouses locations... probably because it is one of the newest. The wine/beer selection is on par with the Carrollton and other large Rouses locations. They have a huge deli section complete with salad bar, olive bar, hot food, sandwiches, cheese, sushi, and more. The fruits, veggies, and meats are always fresh, as you would expect from Rouses. Some of the employees are friendlier than others, but hey, I expect that. I just wish they would keep those Hubig's Mini King Cakes stocked! I've been looking for them ever since someone spotted them here a couple of weeks ago, but no luck. Rouses still gets 5 stars since I'm well aware that Hubigs stocks their own products.

Since I have been going there a long time I have seen the meat department change under a man who just retired after over forty (40) years to a really good place to shop for meat. The presentation was really nice and he treated you with respect and always had a smile and a Hello for me. Well, it's just been a few days and already It's looks like a mess. I asked to have a large roast cut in half and was told by Steve working in the meat department that I would have to come back when the cutter was there (???). He might but be a morning person but, really needs to do better. He didn't seem like he wanted to help AT ALL!! FYI, Be careful when buying the reduced meat. I didn't mind purchasing some in the past because the previous guy would reduce the prices low enough that you didn't mind if it had to be thrown out because it was actually bad when opened. Now, in my opinion, the discounted prices are simply most of the other stores regular prices. I may as well buy elsewhere and not be treated rudely when asking questions or requesting help. I will get fresher meat at better prices by shopping elsewhere. Oh Well, A good butcher does really make a difference. I hope he enjoys his well deserved retirement. He will be missed. In my opinion, the new person (Steve) needs to do much better in the meat department or more customers will opt to buy meat at lower priced family owned local stores for a better, fresher, tastier more affordable shopping experience.

I mainly go just to buy fruit but I took pictures of other things they had. It's more like a healthier grocery boutique by a German based company. I will say that I have noticed at different stores, the prices are drastically different per demographic areas. For example, I went to the store on Vets in Metairie and a family pack of chicken legs (drumsticks) was only $5 and some change. I went to the store in Algiers and they didn't offer the family pack of the same item, only 1/4 pack and the price was close to $6. I went to the Gretna store and their prices matched Vets prices. Very odd. In all the stores, I've been to, there's always one cashier and no self checkout stations except in Marrero. Overall, it's a pretty good place to shop for certain items but you're certainly not going to find your beloved Cajun foods or spices here.
