Kind of a Crappy job…read more The head guy came out first, and he seemed to know what he was doing; he promised to put the big rocks back (that make up a retaining wall) in the same place, and protect them with canvas or something so they didn't get scratched up. Because they never told us which day they would be starting, I was surprised to wake up to loud machinery one morning. I went to out to talk to the guy working, whom I found peeing in the woods behind our house. He was very friendly, but he literally couldn't figure out where 2 of the boulders went, so he just shoved them to the edge of the yard. The rocks were all scratched up, which is no big deal, but the final wall is missing rocks so it looks really bad. The main problem is there's no oversight. So when I talked to the main dude on the phone afterward, he never asked me how I liked it or if everything was OK - I think he saw it & knew his employee did a crappy job. When you're paying someone thousands of dollars for landscaping/excavating, there should be some sort of quality control and accountability. I would never hire Northwoods again.
