My husband randomly found this place online to try while we were out in Lancaster. We came here for lunch and everything we got was amazing. We had the cheeseburgers, fried chicken sandwich and curly fries. The cheeseburgers were just perfect and the "smash burger" type style. I also loved the fried chicken sandwich, I feel that some people might not like that it a thin piece of chicken but it was perfect for me because I get grossed out by overly thick chicken. All of the food was great and the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is super tiny to the point where I was worried they wouldn't have high chairs but luckily they did. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but trust me, it's worth it. Truly a hidden gem. The burgers and cheeseburgers come as singles, doubles, triples, and quadruples. They even have plant based burgers and falafel burgers. They have beef cheese steaks and chicken cheese steaks. The Tandori chicken cheese steak is ahhhhhhmazing. Not too spicy but mega flavorful. They have Nashville hot chicken sandwiches - also very good and plenty spicy. Add salad, taco, and hotdog options and you can find something for just about everyone. Fries are also good. Prices are decent. Service is good. Food takes a while but they make it after you order it. We were there during a soccer tournament and time was tight but we made it with time to spare so it's not too bad. This establishment has existed for several years now and when you drive by it doesn't look like much of anything. However this place is wildly popular, does a lot of business and for good reason. While many people flock here for their smash burgers there's another set of people who come for their hot chicken sandwich, which includes me. Honestly, I have never even tried their burger however I can attest to how good the hot chicken sandwich is. The bun is never big enough to fit the entire cutlet and is just as spicy as I would like it to be. In my mind, it is nearly perfect and I can almost taste it even just thinking about it now. There are two other items on their menu that I also go there for: the tikka masala chicken cheesesteak and the tandoori chicken cheesesteak. The tandoori chicken cheesesteak is the spicier of the two but both of them are packed and gooey and delicious. It is hard to put any of these three sandwiches down once you start eating them. Due to this establishment's popularity you must be aware that they do get busy. It is probably best to place your order online and pick up however you can walk in and place an order but expect to wait some time because of how busy they get. In my opinion, the interior decor is nothing to write home about but it does have a classic Americana vibe going on. Also, because it's busy it can get loud in there too. There aren't many tables in this place because it's so small so you're lucky if you go there with the intent of dining in and find a table to eat at. Arrived right on time but then waited another 20 minutes before food was ready. Really almost an hour for some burgers and fries? I've only gotten the Nashville hot chicken sandwich (I think it's called sandwich, not sure ) . Came today with thee adults and 2 kids, we got 4 hot chicken sandwiches, one Nashville hot taco (comes with two), a deluxe cheesesteak and a side of large curly fries. The place is reasonably priced and I have to say, it really packs on the flavors. I can tolerate pretty spicy stuff and I would say this is perfect for a introduction to heat lol. It's not spicy ( to me) but it is extremely flavorful, wouldn't change a thing. I would say, the size of the chicken seems to have gotten smaller. Of the 4 sandwiches, one was the normal, very big size , and the others seemed to be smaller. But great none the less. The cheesesteak was not bad. I tried a bite of it. It was okay. I personally wouldn't get it again, because the taste of the chicken sandwich doesnt mix well with the cheesesteaknif having one after the othrr. Overall, I would highly recommend. I swore after the first time I would never return. I was reminded why this second time. Someone suggested the "famous" chicken sandwich, so I figured, "Why not?" Ugh...WHY?! Not to echo my original review, but from start to finish this place just misses the mark for me. Ownership isn't very friendly when you walk-in, the place needs a deep cleaning (especially now during COVID), and the was food mediocre, again. Don't be fooled by the size of the chicken. Sure, it's the size of a boat, but portion size doesn't make up for lack of flavor. As you can see in one of my photos, the breading literally separates from the chicken. You can actually stuff your hand in between the two. Weird that it slides right off?? The chicken sandwich is advertised to be hot, but it's not. If you are going to serve a piece of chicken that size, at least add a proportional amount of condiments. I think I had two pickles and a tablespoon of slaw. The acid in the pickle should have cut through the spice of the chicken and the sweetness and texture was missing from the slaw. It just falls flat and tastes one dimensional. Like I mentioned the first time, it's time to invest in a better bun than Martin's Potato Rolls. Don't get me wrong, I love Martin's - for when I'm cooking at home! That itty bitty bun is not sturdy enough to handle the size of that chicken. It's soggy half way through and turns to mush by the end. Do yourself a favor and drive another .5 mile and go to Blazin' J's. Now that's a chicken sandwich to write home about! Side note - both times my daughter got sick after eating here. We ventured into down town lancaster today to enjoy the day with family and we stopped in at the family owned gem on the corner of liberty and prince street, their burgers are so juicy and flavorful, the fresh cut fries were hot and crispy, and the milkshakes were creamy, and the service was amazing, the sweet lady at the order counter was so courteous and nice, you could see the well oiled machine they had with their kitchen as it is an open kitchen, and the gentleman that brought our order out was kind and courteous, not to mention it took only 10 minutes or so to get our order perfectly made as ordered and with piping hot food and creamy shakes, Route 66 is such a little gem, I highly recommend grabbing some delicious grub from them!!! read more

Get the cheeseburger with everything and Route 66 sauce-- have you too been chasing true love all the days of your life? One bite into that soft, buttery, pillowy bun and you'll have found it, I swear. And then there's the fries. Perfectly seasoned fried to perfection. And THEN-- then-- they wrap the burgers up like little gifts and present them in these long open boxes-- so cute I should have taken a picture (but I guess you have other images on here as evidence of what I mean). My boyfriend had a quad burger with fried cheese and bacon, we each got a milkshake, and we split some fries. Ordering was easy, our food and shakes were ready within about 10 minutes, and at 2:30 in the afternoon we had our choice of almost any table (the place is small - there were 2 or 3 tables for 2, and 3 tables for 4 - but I noticed the maximum per the fire department is 50 people).
