Jardin Bontanique de Montreal is pretty big and has a lot of different exhibits that you can go and see. I loved seeing the different flowers as well the waterfall. I honestly thought that I would get to see something that would make me say "WOW," but I didn't get that. I'm not sure if I would revisit it; however it's nice for what it is.

There are plenty of places to sit for a while as you go though the various Gardens and see examples of the flora in different parts of the world. The Chinese garden is harmonious and appealing to the eye, venue. You could be in China. Depending on where you stand or sit the view changes completely. The waterfalls and buildings seem to change depending where you look. The bonsai, some more than 50 years old, are examples of excellent techniques in pruning and shaping so that the trees look like they might be in the woods affected by the weather and shaped that way.

The museum itself is kind of lacking in content and you'll probably spend less than 30 minutes. I definitely would have felt ripped off if I had paid the full admission fee vs the passport deal. They don't sell food so bring your own picnic basket or just your shades and flip flops. There are 11 escalators then a flight of stairs to take to get up here (I think there's also the option of an elevator) The stairs leading up to the greenhouse are creepy with 70s art and howling wind sounds. Obvious tip: Go on a sunny day! (Had to say it)

A perfect place to study or enjoy a quiet beverage among the greenery. The greenhouse hosts a number of events throughout the year to teach sustainable practices ranging from balcony gardening to a build your own solar panel workshop. All at a reasonable price. They also host seedling sales and are available for private events. I have visited the greenhouse for a number of workshops and love the energy. They have a seed library (borrow at the beginning of the year, deposit your end of season seeds for next year) as well as offering volunteer opportunities for those looking to learn. Their website includes a number of links and DIYs based on the workshops they host, as well as selling mushroom/sprout kids and other goodies. I was very impressed with the volunteer's energy as well as the effort they continue to put forward for spreading sustainability across campus.

4 Museums in one area around the Olympic Stadium…read more We were there the first week of April 2024 going to see the eclipse. Took the subway to the Olympic Stadium. Around here are the Jardin Botanique, Insectarium, Biodome and Planetarium. Spent about 2 hours at the Insectarium. The first part is an indoor display of deceased butterflies mounted on displays. The second part is an enclosed butterfly greenhouse where live butterflies are free to fly all around visitors. Similar to the New Orleans insectarium which I reviewed earlier. The Jardin Botanique was closed for the season as there was snow on the ground, and would not open until May. Likewise the Chinese and Japanese tea gardens were closed.

This was a must on our itinerary for our final day in Montreal. We did take a uber there but proudly walked back. This museum was massive with 5 floors of all different mediums of Art. It was an easy map to follow to show me what I must! See and others that I call a fast pass, no lingering allowed :) I didn't read about it in advance so was surprised to see some of my favorites included. I got to see a Rembrandt who I love but got tired of after teaching it to middle schoolers for 5 years. There was a lot of modern and abstract pieces that were magnificent you will see in the pictures. Sometimes museums can be confusing in the layout but this one was perfectly arranged in such a way that I loved that after 3 hours the bottoms of my feet hurt and then we made the journey back to our hotel. We had a wonderful time and had to go around twice to our favorite exhibits! I forget the exact price for entry but I was reasonable.

I was spending a long weekend in Montreal in early Autumn, when I visited the Parc Olympique. I am…read morea fan of the Olympics and religious about watching the events on TV and when possible attending an event, so I had to at least see the venue. Parc Olympique was the site of the 1976 summer Olympics. These are the Olympic games that propelled Nadia Comaneci to stardom. The venue is known for it's tower which is set at 45 degrees and affords a view of the Montreal skyline. It is 165 meters high. Presently it is closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Note that when admission is possible it is closed on Mondays. The cost to climb the tower was $15 and if you add the cost of stadium parking $20 people hesitate to visit. Days when traffic is light you will be able to find street parking close by. Besides climbing the tower you can see the the Olympic size swimming pool which is still used by the Olympic diving and swimming team.. The 5 five rings of the Olympics are still up including the medal stand. The Biodome which replicates the four ecosystems found in the United States requires a separate admission cost. The Planetarium is adjacent to dome is worth seeing. Across the street, Maisonneuve Park is home to the Montreal Botanical Garden and Insectarium. Saputo soccer Stadium can be found here as well. The bottom line is that I would not recommend Parc Olympique for everyone but it was interesting to see for me since it is only a 10 minute drive from downtown Montreal and is a unique dome.

April 7, 2024 Planetarium in Montreal?…read more This planetarium has two shows: Beyond the Sun, In Search of a New Earth , and We are stars. Costs about $23CAN or $16US. Each of the two shows is about 26 minutes long. Beyond the Sun, In Search of a New Earth is a cartoon type animation designed for elementary school children. We are stars is a more adult oriented movie, with decent astronomical depictions. You need to make paid reservations a day ahead on the planetarium website, as there is a schedule of shows in English, and shows in French, with early day shows in English invariably sold out a day in advance. And the shows are not shown every day of the week. Located near Olympic Stadium in Montreal, just across from the Bioderm. Make you reservations first here at the Planetarium, and then spend the other part of the day at the Bioderm, and Insectarium, a mile away. Olympic Stadium is reachable by metro some 7 miles from downtown Montreal. These are not Imax films, simply ordinary movies, charging a premium price. First planetarium I attended without evening skies, planets, star systems on a domed screen. Could have seen it in a movie theater in French with English subtitles for less, without going to the planetarium.

The exhibits are actually free to visit. Only the movie theatres require tickets. I spend about an…read morehour there to look at meteorites. The only thing that they could improve is to increase the number of English movies played at late afternoon on weekends and mornings on weekdays. Similar to the one at the Botanical gardens, during the visit you get to walk around and in between different sceneries, with some structures being up to 15m high. The most impressive was the palace recreation out of the lanters. As it is at the park everything is much more spaced out giving enough space to walk around, especially if it is busy. Part of the festival included some immersive and interactive activities during the evening. There was a 3D holographic animations appearing on "a water screen", traditional singing, dancing show and even a drone dancing show! The last two were super well done and the water screen video with the dragon scene was especially impressive. They had more activities on Friday and Saturday planned, so I might not have listed everything. This is a great event for families, and the whole thing lasts a maximum of two hours as the shows repeat each hour and one hour to walk around the creations with photo taking.
