It's bright, it's colourful and it's all a celebration of our beautiful city (Glasgow, der) which means it gets a whopping 5 stars from me. Stephen O'Neil is a digital artist with images from across Scotland. There's cards, small prints and then framed work so no matter what your budget, you'd be able to find a great gift. In addition to his own stuff there's a great selection of designers on display - Bonny Bling in the jewellery cabinet and Grafika notebooks, for example. Topped off with a welcoming vibe and reasonable prices, I'll can see that I'll be returning here regularly!

His trademark style heavily relies on black and red - if you don't like those colours, don't waste your time coming in here. Otherwise, consider it a classic colour combination, and just go with it! When I popped in a while back, we got chatting with Stephen himself - very friendly guy, knowledgeable and in no way pushy when it came to selling his work. Pricewise, you'll find postcards, coasters and small prints from a few quid, right up to big trifectas, costing hundreds. Most items were pretty affordable. I'll definitely be back soon.

Full of fairly unusual and sweet presents for most occasions - such as special birthdays, weddings and new babies - it can be great to pick up that special gift although occassionally the stock disappoints me. What I love the most is the card selection - perfect when searching for a slightly more unusual card. Also be prepared to pay for its location - as you'd imagine in Princes Square it can be pretty expensive.

With nearly all the space in the wall there are a number of masterpieces on display from artists from Glasgow many if the artists who have work's displayed here studied at the Glasgow school of art. Some prices range from the lower thousands of pounds to over ten thousand. There are also prices of individual crafted furniture For sale in this shop, very nice items. Definitely a place to recommend if you want to own an original piece of Glasgow art.

I hadn't been in a while and the exhibits have changed - there is a wide variety of contemporary work on display in different media. Art is subjective so I would say just go and see what piques your interest! Even if the work on show is not to your liking, the building itself is magnificent. The shop is well worth a look and has some cool arty gifts and souvenirs. There's also a café and public library downstairs.

Fifteen years ago Byres Road was full of individual wee shops like this; today it's all coffee emporiums and charity outlets. I discovered Owen Bissett when doing my Christmas shopping in December. It's not the sort of place that would normally attract me, but I was looking for a nice present for my sister, and their window display looked inviting, so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I made that decision. The place is a veritable Aladdin's Cave of jewellery, bijoux, craft wares, designer knick-knacks and generally precious things (preeeeccccciouuusssss!). I soon found a lovely bracelet and necklace combo that my sister was delighted with, and would probably have ended up spending a lot more than I wanted to had not common sense kicked in. There's such a wide range of really unusual things in here, it is ideal if you're looking for that 'special gift' or just want a thing of beauty for yourself. I think my favourite items were the glass bowl sculptures with the natural wood stands - these large thick glass works appear to have been melted and poured onto driftwood or tree-branch tripods, so that they have flowed into the perfect shape for the support. I have no idea what I would use one for (and I couldn't afford one anyway), they were just lovely pieces of craftsmanship. A definite thumbs-up for the most original and unusual shop in Hyndland Street, if not the entire West End. Check it out - you're sure to find something you like.

There's something here for all budgets, which is a bonus. I bought a gorgeous necklace for myself a while back that people always comment on, and it only cost £10. Regardless of price, you can be assured that whatever you buy will always be top quality. Owen's window displays are always eye-catching and well thought out; I defy you to walk past and not at least stop for a good look! Displays are changed regularly, which is a great way to showcase the wide range of what's on offer. I highly recommend liking the shop on Facebook too, as it's an extension of the window displays. The service is always fantastic, and everyone there is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They'll point out things you might like or will leave you to browse the stock without being over-bearing. It's customer service done correctly, and it's refreshing to behold. It's a great place to go and treat yourself or a loved one, be it Christmas, birthdays or just for the sake of it. But this doesn't quite do justice to what you'll find in this little gem. Stuffed full of prints, mugs, t-shirts and cards, mostly made by local artists and designers, this is a perfect place to pick up a gift that's unique and special. I popped in here on Saturday afternoon and, as is normally the case, I had nothing in mind I just fancied a browse. After thumbing through some prints and objet d'art I spotted an awesome yellow and white laser-cut image. This now looks totally at home in my living room. Be prepared to rummage a little when you come in - not in a jumble sale kinda way, it's actually part of the charm of this shop. The owner is happy to let you browse, pick things up and wander around. You won't be rushed and the staff won't try to up-sell. If your purchase is a gift, they'll even wrap it for you. Most of the items are pretty affordable, starting at a few pounds but for some bespoke items are a bit more expensive. And a handy wee 20% Yelp discount when you check in makes it all the more affordable. And I'd love to know the story behind the ceramic cow tiles by the door - which I guess to be from a previous use for the shop.

It's a lovely gallery space and great for a relaxing look around. Most stuff seemed to be pretty reasonable to me and there are prints as well as large framed pieces, so you could grab something interesting as a gift. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that the person working in the gallery that day didn't seem to be bothering to greet customers, which I think is a pretty basic courtesy. That wouldn't stop me returning for another visit though.

I was in looking for a little housewarming gift and card for a friend and loved having a nosey around while the woman working offered me helpful suggestions and showed me some of the new stuff they had in. They have a big range of stuff; from jams and fudge, to candles, prints, kids clothes/toys, lovely fabrics and cushions, bunting and some jewellery bits and bobs. I liked how it's all presented and easy to find something nice without too much bother - I ended up just grabbing a card (The Grey Earl batboy card) and a wee tote bag as a present which was under a tenner.
