The works on display varied tremendously in styles and techniques with many artists on hand to discuss their entries. Owner and artist, Julie Delf, was a wonderful hostess along with her husband, Mark. They offered a wide variety of complimentary hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and water. Local artisan, Andrea Lee, was also creating onsite. I can't wait to go back in March to see all the mermaid themed creations!

The Island Art Association Gallery is a beautiful facility located off the main historic district…read moremain street in Fernandida Beach. The gallery is located on second street. The outside of the building is covered with colorful tile artwork that wraps around the building. There is also a beautiful and welcoming courtyard with two tables containing umbrellas for shade, as well as four benches throughout the courtyard. The inside gallery houses the art of 50 local artists. It is a non-profit volunteer organization that displays the beautiful artwork of the local artists for sale, and also offers art education classes. It is a must see if you are in the area visiting Fernandina Beach.

There were several people in the same class that had the same experience that I had with Polly. Glad to have found someone who cared enough to actually show up to teach! Would never recommend her! The class was fun and informative…read more Me and my family all made bowls where we selected the color and finish on the bowls, which then were to be mailed to us once the bowls were fired and finished. Told Polly, the owner, to just let me know how much shipping was and I could pay the shipping via Venmo, PayPal, etc so she could ship the bowls. After multiple attempts via phone and text over many many months, didn't get a text or phone call back to provide status, and my family and I never received the bowls we made....very disappointing.

We were a party of 5 (ages: 12, 15, 19, 40 and 65; 2 guys and 3 gals; none of us painters...at all) from out of town. They made us feel welcome and introduced us around to the others, including the regulars. We painted our own interpretation of the theme for the night on canvas from ~6pm to ~8pm. Our host/teacher gave simple easy to follow instructions to start off and to help improve features in each of our paintings. She was very supportive and made sure we had what we needed at all times. We were not hurried to leave or stop prematurely, and were instead encouraged to experiment with new colors and lines. A good time was had by all, and we'd recommend it to any one in town, or passing through.
