Soo I really tried to like this place. Service: We had two waiters helping us out. Neither seemed particularly excited or helpful as we made our meal choices, though they were polite. They didn't even try to suggest any lunch specials as we were contemplating the options. Food: Thai food is my favorite cuisine, so it's usually a matter of "really good" or "not the best." Here... The Tom yum soup was served well with lots of veggies. I will note that it didn't really taste like a Tom yum but more of a sweet and sour. Towards the end of a bowl or two, it got too sweet to even finish. The stuffed wings came out completely different than the menu described them as half those ingredients weren't in them. There were only three wings on our $9 plate and each was a bone with ground chicken mixed with glass noodles at the end (then the whole thing was fried). The pad Thai was, well, a complete other dish. While I can appreciate the presentation with a fried egg omelette laid across the top, all the noodles were tossed in this thick brown sauce that tasted like some sort of Chinese noodle dish. Environment: Nice and clean inside. The decorations are a bit random but well placed. The bathroom was also decently clean. It's not often I leave hungry from a restaurant, but I came in craving Thai soup and pad Thai and was not really served either. There is no words to describe how delicious this place is there's lots of options on the menu and everything that we've had a delicious. I used to frequent this Thai restaurant often. But lately, the quality of the food have just nose-dived. I normally order the curry with soft shell crab and the pad Thai. The shrimp in the pad Thai was super dry since it was over cooked and the soft shell crab super greasy. Due to the price point of the restaurant, I expect better quality. Service is usually good. I ordered the Salmon Big Bowl which is a traditional Thai coconut soup base with roasted salmon, mushrooms and broccoli added. It doesn't sound like a yummy combination...but trust me, it's delish! My super picky mom cleaned the bowl and kept remarking that this is a very strange but delicious soup. We also ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice which includes super jumbo shrimp, chicken, cashews, carrots, raisins, peas and pineapple. We asked them to omit the chicken and we didn't miss it...the rice was perfect!! I tasted a hint of curry which balanced out the sweetness of the pineapple and raisins. Well I finally tried Royal Bistro and I am glad I did. It is a small family run restaurant with a great atmosphere and menu. I ordered the red curry with coconut and sliced chicken. Before the meal comes out, they give you what I believe is a type of rice cakes (think of it similar to chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant or bread at a steakhouse). For lunch, you also get a soup and springroll. For entree, I got the lava noodles. They were good and spicy. I will say if you're weak to spicy, don't try them. Guess they're called lava for a reason. Friends I went with got basil fried rice and pad Thai. Both enjoyed their dishes. Place gives me the impression it's run by a husband and wife, or another similar small business type management style. Portion sizes were good and the perfect size for a lunch portion. There were several people eating in the restaurant and service was good. I really can't understand how this place could have good reviews. I have tried take-out about 2-3 times, ordering different dishes, and I was disappointed every time. It makes me so sad because I live right around the corner and there aren't any good Thai places nearby. The last experience was the last straw. We ordered the Inferno rice dish. It was so over cooked and had no flavor. I felt a crunchy texture, and I thought it was one of the ingredients. Well, it turned out that special crunchy ingredient was ENTIRE EGG SHELLS - the whole thing was mixed in the rice. I called the restaurant to inform them and they apologized, which I appreciated but there were no offers of any kind to refund or remake it. I have tried on previous occasions: pad thai, curry, seafood dish. It was just meh, just okay. I don't know if I need to dine in for better food, but take-out was not good. If I want delicious Thai food, I guess I have to drive all the way down to Cheshire Bridge for Little Bangkok. read more

My husband and I came for lunch on Saturday. They serve lunch from Monday through Saturday. Price is decent, atmosphere is clean upscale modern and service is excellent. We ordered Pad Thai and Royal Spicy Basil chicken. At first we were served spring roll then tofu soup and then our entree in a perfect timing. Pad Thai - very good. The presentation is very unique unlike a regular pad thai we are used to, noodle was wrapped inside an omelet, it was seasoned perfectly and delicious. Royal spicy basil - very good. They cooked in the authentic way. Ground chicken with fried egg. The sauce is balanced, not overly salty or sweet however could have been better if it had a little more kick. 20 layers crepe cake - I won't leave this place without having this cake. Last month, I checked their reviews and saw that they very good, so I went there for lunch with my sisters. My sisters really liked their lunch, but it was much too mild for me. Last week, I decided to try it again. I took friends there for dinner. I asked the waitress for whatever spice they use to add heat so I could season to taste. She brought a small assortment of peppers to add to my dinner. The difference was amazing. Their coconut soup was the best that I have ever had. Very unimpressive. I ordered the green curry chicken. A classic dish - they substituted zucchini for eggplant.. not the same!? The basil was tasteless. The jasmine rice was overcooked and very low quality. Ended up throwing it out. Gruhub was late picking up my order for delivery which added 30 minutes to the confirmed delivery time ... so my food was cold when it finally arrived. This is our go- to Thai restaurant as it is only a couple miles away from the house and the food is amazing. They prepare my favorite dish in the world, whole snapper, cooked to perfection and they have an awesome appetizer called chili lime skewers that give your mouth a flavor explosion with every bite. The staff is very accommodating as I have celebrated many occasions there now and they also accept reservations. This place is perfect for dining in a group or a very intimate setting. I have also enjoyed the lemon grass and ginger tea. I highly recommend this place and will be headed back soon. read more
