This buffet is truly impressive. It's fully stocked, incredibly clean, and well-maintained. We visited on a Sunday, and the $44 price for two people felt very reasonable. ​What really stands out is the attention to detail. Quick, tasty, affordable -- and dangerously delicious! The only downside? I couldn't stop eating. Seriously. Same with my husband -- we were so full on the drive home we nearly fell asleep behind the wheel. (Note to self: maybe pace ourselves next time...) Most of the food was cold and didn't have much of a taste. The chicken on a stick looked good but tasted terrible. But the buns were delicious! The ice cream scoop had no water to wash it off. The hibachi was actually delicious. Service was ok, The soy sauce was broken and leaked all over the table. And most of the plates looked worn and gross. The ambiance was kind of sad. The poor fish looked like they needed more water in their pond. Overall the building looked old and dingy. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

For under $20, the food at this all you can eat joint was not too bad. Yes, it's all generally so-so Chinese foods, and the crab legs are a la carte, but you get what you pay for and there are definitely some hidden gems in the wide selection. We unfortunately went during a period of time where they lost water flow - the entire shopping center just stopped receiving water - and I watched as the staff did their very best to continue serving customers. I could've lived without going to this one to be honest. Overall food quality doesn't match the $20 per person price point. I was excited to see some crab legs mentioned in some of the reviews, but no crab legs to be found during my visit. Buffet has 4 - 5 different sections: a flat top grill area, assorted Chinese food, American food, sushi, and dessert. In general, most of the food is hit and miss. I'll say the ice cream is actually pretty decent. Possibly the same supplier for Baskin Robbins. Overall dining and common areas feel a bit grungy. I already reviewed this buffet but want to update it to 5 stars. We went during the day this time on a Sunday and it was even better than last time. It was very busy but organized and due to how huge this establishment is, it doesn't feel crowded. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious! I left some room to try the dessert this time and ordered a crepe (made while you wait) with your choice of fruits, jams, and ice cream. I asked for the coffee flavor and it was yummy. There were families that were there eating when we arrived that were still there when we left so that days something about the quality of the food. It's definitely worth the drive! read more

The staff is super nice but the food is definitely not fresh the flan taste burnt and had the texture of scrambled eggs. The meat on the general Taos and sweet and sour was cold and felt like it was cooked 3 days prior just tasted old. The egg rolls were ray to salty and didn't have any meat in it and they charged 20$ per person for dinner service on a week day there online price said 15.50 on week days. I would say the only things I really liked was there almond cookies because they are the same everywhere and the cream cheese wonton was pretty good to. Have not been here in years. Visited today with the family and I remember now why I choose not to come. Food is mediocre at best. Staff is not friendly. Establishment is spacious with many tables and booths. I can't say that it was dirty... But I wouldn't call it clean either. On the plus side, they do a good job of clearing off the dirty plates and refilling the food trays. The one tray that was rarely refilled was the lobster tray...which is the big pull for some to choose the place. There was a sign that said the lobster tray would be refilled every 20 minutes. I do not think that was the case. And for a place as big as theirs... To have only one tray is ridiculous. When we were there we stood in line to wait for the tray to be filled. They eventually brought out a tray of chopped up lobster, hardly enough for our family of 6. What about the other 100 or so patrons? My thing is, they shouldn't advertise all u can eat lobster. Or maybe they should guarantee each customer with at least one lobster tail. Bottom line, I would not recommend the place, much less going there for lobster. read more

Wow! Some bad reviews. The truth. You are missing out on a JEM. Just come and eat here. It's expensive, $17, but it's worth it. The night we went, they had Lobster Tail. Awesome!! Just what I wanted. Chopped Lobster Tail with Ginger sauce to be exact. Free pop! I'm good. I'll help myself. There are a few bad reviews, but this place has many customers. So, is it bad or good? The bad reviews just don't weigh against the GOOD. If it was bad, then why do they have many customers??? Their PARTY room was packed too!! The salmon didn't taste fresh - I spit out the first bite. The tiny morsels of crabmeat available from the fried crab pieces were tasty but a whole lot of work and mess to get the tiny bits. The sushi was not even real sushi, with plastic rice and the only roll with fish was a very small piece of rubber tuna. If I could have put a -5 stars I would. My husband and I went here on a Friday night, thinking it would be good. It was by far the WORST meal we have ever had. Every single thing they served was old, cold, rubbery, stale and was inedible. Our stomachs hurt for hours after. In addition to the usual rows of food under the heat lamps, Royal Buffet also has the sushi, stir-fried, and barbecue stations. There is a huge selection of seafood, anything from lobsters, oysters, and clams to steamed fish and crab legs. Be ware of the long line for lobsters. Update 7/28/2019 Been coming here for a number of years. Sadly, it is going downhill. There is a horrible lingering smell that has only becomes worse over time - I think it come from the bathrooms. Speaking of bathrooms, it's disgusting. Smells of urine and you certainly don't want to touch anything while in there. The tables, napkin dispenser, chairs are all sticky like they've never been cleaned. The utensils are sometimes visibly not clean. The soda area is a filthy mess, sticky, and smells. Oh, and the soda is often flat. When you tell the staff it's flat they just ignore it. It's becoming routine for many of the food items to be lukewarm or cold suggesting they never test temperature, which by law they are required to do. I've never seen anyone test temperature. When we first started coming here, the place would be packed; now, it seems never too horribly busy. It's great to get a table, but I wonder if others are getting fed up with its lack of cleanliness and cold food too. This used to be our go-to place for Saturday or Sunday dinner. Not sure it will remain on the list. The horrible smell made this recent visit untenable. I hope they get their act together before the health department closes it down. Oh, do be sure to get there at least a couple hours before closing or you'll just get cold dregs. They seem to stop replenishing items a couple hours before closing. read more

I love Royal Buffet in Hoffman Estates. This is drastically different. We live closer to Bolingbrook then Schaumburg. When we want a quick Chinese food fix we come here. I hadn't been here for a while because I was disgusted by the cleanliness of this place. So when I went last week, I knew never again am I coming back. This place is SO FILTHY! Especially the bathrooms. I wish I took a photo of it. The bathroom has three stalls and one or two is always broken. There are no ventilation so they have a fan and sometimes open the door. The trash is disgusting! They have a small trash can by the toilet and people THROW their toilet paper in there instead of the toilet. It never gets thrown out so it piles up and it is on the floor. Same as the larger trash can by the sink. When I went in there it smells SOO BAD! I do not know how they pass inspection. They need to update that bathroom terribly. I know I am focus on the bathroom right now. But if the bathrooms are this bad how dirty is it every where else. I do not want to think about that. You want to eat a good buffet, go to Royal Buffet in Schaumburg. This Woodridge place is NASTY! Note: You know the food is bad when you see the employees eating lunch and what did they eat? The family decided to have valentine's lunch here. Apparently when it is a holiday ( yes, valentine's day is a holiday at this Royal Buffet), you get charged the dinner pricing for lunch. We couldn't figure out why the lunch price wasn't in place at first because it didn't appear that they had served anything out of the extraordinary. It turns out after our 3rd plate, we noticed other people getting crab legs! I had walked around meticulously examining the buffet, taking pictures for my Yelp review, was baffled at where these crab legs were coming from! It turns out, on the wall, in shoddy white piece of paper in black permanent marker, it was advertised that for holiday lunch pricing, you would have to stand next to the kitchen to ask for crab legs! read more

Came here on Saturday and it was like $17 a person due to lobster being available. Sign said lobster comes out every 20 minutes but that wasn't the case. Basically a gimmick to bump up the buffet price. Lobster itself tasted horrible and has no meat. Ice cream station was 80% emptied and only 2 flavors were available because it hasn't been restocked. Use to eat here once a week, years ago.the food is honestly terrible. Luke warm at best, tough to eat and chew. There is no quality. Selection is abundant. Don't wast your money, eat elsewhere. Well, friends... it has been about 7 years since I've been back to this location and upon looking back at my review, unfortunately I have to declare that the state of this dining establishment is even worse now than it was back then. When the most memorable thing you remember about a restaurant is the 'smell' of it, and not the good-food kind of smell, something is very utterly wrong. It wasn't just me, my husband smelled it, my mother, our whole family who came here on a Saturday night to have a quick Asian meal smelled it. It's a stench that you wouldn't miss towards the back-- the last 2 rows of the food bar--which was overwhelmingly similar to something of dirty rags and murky water. It was to the point that this particular smell was overriding any possible aroma of the foods. My husband felt like his gag-reflex was about to kick in and both of us as a result barely touched any food in the back (not even their lobsters on their lobster night). Not to mention that the floors at this place was sticky EVERYWHERE. We are pretty sure that if a health department inspection was issued, this place may not pass. In addition, the bathrooms were dirty and at one point, the men's bathroom was completely wide open towards the end of the night. I guess they had kept it open for cleaning, but it sure didn't look very clean. Cleanliness is a 1 out of 10 here and food quality is about a 3 out of 10. From the sushi to the hot and sour soup, to many other offerings, things just looked and tasted old and stale. The adult weekend dinner pricing was $16.50 per person and kids under 3 eat free, but I have been to other places that cost less than this and the food was more decent. Unfortunately, even my kid wasn't into the food. We wanted to give this place a try because it has been many years since we have been back and I remember when it was the hit of the town with people lining up to pay to get in when it was first opened. Now, over half a decade later it has really disintegrated in quality, service and cleanliness. We won't be back to this location again. This place is not for the faintest of heart or stomach, just trust me and skip it all together.
