My friend car was given her trouble after having a stater changed at pep boys. Her car shut down and pep boys said it was the cam shaft position sensor. So she had them change it. Well a week later it did the same thing cam sensor. So she checked with Royal Honda and the service guy to her the problem was the starter pep boys put in wasn't a Honda starter. Any electronic part has to be replaced with a Honda part. Or it will keep giving you problems. They are very knowledgeable. When I bought my car in 2023, it was for my daughter going away to college so I prepaid for 5 years of oil changes. I've personally brought this car in for maintenance religiously. It's for my baby girl and it will be in good mechanical shape. At the 2 year mark, they recommended a transmission flush and a brake fluid exchange. The car had 20,000 miles on it. It wasn't just a recommendation. The presented it as "Immediate safety concern". They recommend this service every time I bring it in and I decline because it isn't needed. Last week, I made today's appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. Knowing they were going to recommend the services, I changed the brake fluid myself. The fluid doesn't have 500 miles on it. Sure enough, "Immediate safety concern". Really? I ask what's up and they say that they go by age and mileage. Interesting since last time there was a literal video of the tech inspecting the fluid. "You don't actually look at the condition of the fluid before telling someone that their safety is in danger?" The mileage is now 30,000 miles. If this transmission is worn to the point that it needs a fluid exchange at 20,000 miles, I'll never buy a Honda again. The brake fluid is crystal clear. The dealership also reduced the price of my service from the original amount and apologized for how the situation was handled. I appreciate them acknowledging my concerns and making an effort to reach a resolution. I am leaving my original review below because it accurately reflects my experience at the time, including the communication issues, the length of time I was without a drivable vehicle, and my concerns surrounding the diagnosis and repair process. That being said, I believe it is equally important to acknowledge when a business makes an effort to correct a difficult situation. I had a rather unfortunate experience making a warranty claim with Royal Honda. In early June, my sunroof exploded without anything hitting it; apparently a rather common issue these days due to manufacturers using cheap glass. I brought my car to the dealer and they took photos of it, sealed it with crash wrap, and said they would submit the claim to Honda USA & get back to me in a few days. A week goes by, then another week...I reach out to my service advisor who says they're "still working on it." Another week goes by, I text again, no response. Double text, triple text, still no reponse. I called the dealership directly; after being left on hold for an eternity, I get transferred to my service advisor who says there are still no updates. At this point, I decided to reach out directly to Honda USA. They opened an investigation for me. After some back and forth--during which they said the dealer failed to reply to them multiple times--they say the warranty claim was denied. I now contact Royal Honda again (who, by the way, never even told me my claim was denied.) At this point, I just wanted to know what Royal Honda told Honda USA. After calling a couple times and being told I would receive the email they sent to Honda USA, I did eventually receive it. This is the entirety of the email: "Customer came in stating driving on interstate and top sunroof just shattered. No other information to provide." They did not link the photos, which show the glass shattered at an angle which would have been impossible if there was any impact from above. Moreover, it was at this point that I was told the district manager had directly denied my claim soon after it was created, and that this was performed verbally. Not sure if this is common practice, but lying to me for weeks on end knowing full well that my claim was denied is incredibly unprofessional to say the least. After finding this out, I asked the service manager to re-submit the claim with the photos, which she of course did not respond to. The local Honda dealer didn't have the part in stock but looked up other dealers between Mississippi and Texas and found Royal Honda in Metairie, Louisiana had the part. If I could give 0 stars I would! Only thing this dealership is good for is screwing people over. I brought my car in for an issue that was first diagnosed at a different place as my camshaft. They could not diagnose that code, their computers gave the code for injectors. I paid them $2500 to fix this. Got my car back and within a few days and driving it twice the issues CAME BACK. SAME EXACT ISSUES. They proceeded to say it was unfortunate but now their computers are "giving the code for a failed turbo". HOW?? Now they expect me to pay ANOTHER 2500 to get that fixed. These people are out their box! Just doing whatever to get money and not help fix actual issues! Misdiagnosed my car 100% but would not own up to it or offer to even cancel the ongoing payments to have what they "fixed" initially done. How can a car give 3 separate codes and all three codes are making my car have the same symptoms??? I'm not a mechanic but I know for a fact it doesn't make sense. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FOLLOW UP. I had one of the worst service experiences at Royal Honda. I brought my car in on March 18th, paid for a diagnostic and a starter replacement, totaling over $1,100--only to leave with the same exact issue still unresolved. After multiple visits and further diagnostics, the service team still can't identify the problem. On top of that, I was promised a $273 refund for a rental car. Despite following all instructions, returning the rental promptly, and providing receipts, it's now been over two weeks and I still haven't received the reimbursement. I've had to follow up repeatedly, and there's been nothing but delays and excuses from the staff. There is a serious lack of communication, follow-through, and professionalism at this location. I hope this reaches someone above the service department. We dropped off our vehicle at 6:00am for an appt at 8:30 / 8:45am. We both have jobs, so we used the drop box and dropped the car . You understand the game when you put one of your cars in the shop. The other person has to re-arrange their schedule to bring the other one to work, pick them up, etc. That's part of life, no worries. We called to check on the car when we got off of work, but just got vm. We drive their to pickup the vehicle, knowing it was not touched, Sure enough, the car is in the same spot. I go inside and ask for my car. Roy looks it up and says we do not have a service record. I told him it's because the key is still in the drop box. He checks and sure enough, the key is still in the drop box. He apologized and said he checked it at 5:45am. The department does not open till 7:00, so why wouldn't you check it again? He said he can take it tomorrow. Guess what, we have our day planned with one going out of town and one going to appts after teaching all day. Tomorrow does not work. I brought my 2021 Honda Accord to Royal Honda yesterday for a complimentary oil change. I was told my usual service advisor had retired. Instead, I was assigned someone new, who sent me a text with his picture and contact information. I took a seat in the waiting area. Two hours passed without another word, so I finally texted him asking, "How much longer?" He texted me back saying the mechanic was just finishing up. Then he called me saying the technician recommended doing a fuel induction service, a coolant exchange service, and a brake fluid induction service. Each cost $200. I was taken completely by surprise. My Accord has 20,500 miles. Was I being scammed? When I called Royal earlier that week to make the service appointment, I specifically asked the booking person (who had my Accord's information on-screen) what service my car might need. She told me my Accord wasn't even due for an oil change. I told her I don't put much mileage on my car. I get oil changes based on elapsed months, not mileage. She made me a Friday morning appointment for my Accord to get an oil change (for which I had a $50 coupon) and a multi-point inspection (MPI). I don't scrimp when it comes to taking care of my Honda. Faced with an unexpected big bill for Honda service, I asked my new service advisor, "How long will it take?" He told me it would only take 45 minutes to an hour. "Your car is already up on the rack." The fact that it took them over two hours to change my oil and they were going to perform three services in 45 minutes should have prompted me to say "I'll pass," but no. I gave them the go ahead and felt like a sucker almost immediately thereafter. My car was ready 50 minutes later. When I drove off, I didn't notice any difference with the brakes. I had hoped the brake fluid swap would make the brake pedal feel less spongy. It didn't. Then I noticed the oil life indicator said 60%, which is what it said when I brought the car to Royal. I had to turn around and drive back to the dealership to get the oil life indicator reset to 100%. Another 15 minutes lost. Royal is big on satisfaction surveys. So is Honda. I know from experience that Royal gets pissed when you give them bad reviews, especially on the surveys from Honda. I really don't want to deal with a call from the Service Manager, so I plan to delete the survey requests when they arrive. I can't bring myself to give a glowing review when it's not how I feel. From what I've read, the services performed might be justified if my Accord had more miles on it. But then again it is a 2021 model, so the recommended induction and replacement services might be appropriate. Who knows? They're not mentioned as such in the owner's manual. My old service advisor at Royal was cool. He would say, "I think you can wait on this." I trusted his recommendations. Yesterday, I feel I was taken. If Royal was going to recommend $600 worth of optional services, it would have been nice if the person who booked my appointment would have told me about them in advance. I would have done my research. Instead, I was ambushed -- forced to make an on-the-spot decision. I'm sure Royal will say the services were justified, and I was free to decline having them done. A year ago I bought a pre-owned Mazda at Royal Honda. As I'm driving away, the radio and electronic display system start glitching. I call the sales person, and he pledges to fix it the next day. However, upon bringing it back they refuse to fix it. I ended up taking it to two mechanics, one at a Mazda dealer, and both tell me that my oil filter and AC filter are filthy, and that all of my windshield wipers need replacing. I ended up replacing them all myself, but I'm stuck with a car with a really messed up electronics system, and I refuse to pay the $600+ to fix what they should have fixed before selling it. This place could really use a course in communication. You let people pull into the service area and lock their cars so they block all other cars in line and then Honda employees have to run around and get the keys. WHY NOT JUST PUT UP A SIGN SAYING LEAVE KEYS IN THE CAR??? This place also says the shuttle will take someone home and back, then won't. The place will pay for a Lyft, but they don't tell customers this up front which causes undue worry and stress about calling a cab. If you're going to keep someone's car overnight, CALL THE CUSTOMER and keep them updated. My mom and I went there, they had to keep her car overnight, and the person/rep in charge was out all day at his kid's school ceremony! You need better communication to your customers, you need to have better continuity with service reps/people, and if someone is going to be out all day, you give that customer to another service rep. Staff can't access Honda warranty information. On Friday, May 30th my wife brings her Honda to this location because she had trouble starting her car. They check battery and tell her battery needs replacement. She tells them she purchased battery from Honda of Harvey and it may be still under warranty. They tell her they can not access this information. They tell her to go back to Harvey Honda to get warranty honored. On Monday, June 3rd Harvey Honda tells her 1. Warranty for battery expired on June 1; and 2. Royal Honda should have been able to access this information because warranty issued by Honda. Salesman - Scott Usher Sales Manager - Martin Tijerino My son is in the market for his first new vehicle and went to Royal Honda of Metairie. Salesman Scott Usher started the sale with my son. I was pleased with the beginning of the sale until I noticed the Royal Honda pre sale paperwork Market Value Selling Price of $32,869 was different (an increase of $1389) from the Royal Honda MSRP selling price of $31,480 on the Website. When I questioned Scott about the increase, he stated "they have to align their price with Honda". I told Scott Usher that if he wants to make the sale that he would have to honor the Website MSRP. After 4 phone calls and 2 voice mails from their Sales Manager Martin Tijerino, he began to "explain" Pre Covid MSRP and price negotiations to today's Post Covid new and used car market supply and demand in which I interrupted him to save time as I already understand about supply and demand etc. Martin Tejerino then became angry and started raising his voice to me over the phone. I interrupted Martin Tijerino once again and advised him not to raise his voice to me as I am the customer. I then responded as to not waste anymore of my time and asked if he was going to honor the Website MSRP. His reply verbatim "the short answer is no." I told him I expect my son's $500 deposit for the vehicle to be refunded as soon as possible and hung up. Approximately 1 hour after the conversation with Sales Manager Martin Tejerino, Salesman Scott Usher called my son with a price of $31980. No thank you. It is concerning that Dealerships like this are taking advantage of the consumer with price gouging due to the pandemic economy. I will say that my wife owns a 2020 Honda Accord bought from another Dealership and is very happy with the purchase (pre Covid of course). My first and last time at their service department. I made an appointment to have my tire switched out. When I dropped the car off, they said it would take no more than a hour and a half. Once it got to nearly two and a half hours, I checked on the progress. Turns out they don't stock the tire I needed. Had they told me that when I came in or even when I made the appointment, it would have been OK and I wouldn't have wasted my afternoon. What really irritated me was the fact that nobody said anything to me, they just made me sit and wait. I called to speak to the service manager, but he wasn't answering and his voicemail was full. I have always received great service from their service department (ha. ha.), which is why I contacted them after my car was in a serious wreck and I needed to purchase a new vehicle. After test driving a Honda HRV with them a few weeks ago, I knew it was the car for me. They had one coming in, so the salesman who I was in contact with, asked if I wanted to put down $500 to reserve it. I asked if he could email me paperwork. He did not, but texted me something he had just typed up that didn't look official. I wanted to be sure I could get a good price & good financing before putting money down....he sent me a credit application, which I filled out Thursday afternoon. We made an appointment for 4:30 yesterday, which we confirmed the morning of. He texted me at 4:10 that he was stepping out and would be 5 minutes late. He was 30 minutes late. He then was very short. He did nothing to explain the confusing process, and said he wanted to hurry so the "numbers guy" wouldn't have to stay late-- when I had been early to the appointment, and he, in fact, had been late. He pressed me for a number of how much I would put down as a down payment. When I said I wanted to see a price first, he refused. When he finally came back with financing options, he priced the HRV at 24K. Keep in mind, I'm looking at LX models, which Honda starts at 21K and I have not seen one with a sticker price that high!! This was before taxes and fees. The monthly numbers also looked very high to me, with an assumed interest rate of at least 8%. He said "Now, I don't know your credit score. I don't know anything about you. These numbers could be different." Although, as mentioned, I had filled out a credit application, I then told him my credit score, which is pretty good (but not perfect) and he looked shocked and said "In that case, these numbers would look very different." Why did he assume I have bad credit?? Because I have gotten a good quote from a Baton Rouge dealership, I did not put $500 down on those numbers, and he did not give a counter offer, but rather seemed shocked and skeptical at my offer from the other dealership. I wanted to work with Royal Honda because of their proximity to my house, and previous great experiences with the Parts/Service departments. However, I am going to purchase a car from somewhere where I feel my business is valued, that respects women, and is supportive & transparent through the car buying process. My service advisor Eric Bowling is legit awesome! I have been noticing that the issues going on with my car have come from not following the manufacturer maintenance schedule. Eric is extremely knowledgeable about what I needed to take care of first, second, etc. Frankly, I hate going into get my car serviced but he eases the burden by giving facts. The snacks, coffee, and water are cool too. He doesn't waste time being some nearby slimy guy who is eager to ruin your experience at one of the worst times...when you need your car most. I used to run around looking for the cheapest way to get my car serviced at other shops. I still need affordability but it's nice to be at a place where they understand your vehicle and have the equipment to fix it. Between the time I spent running around trying to get what my car needed and receiving promises that never materialized I literally threw time away. Valuable time I need to be with my family and me-maw, especially right now during these uncertain times. I have been having my car maintained quite a bit lately trying to catch up on what I paid to have others overlook and he even offered scenarios for that. Don't take it from me of course, just try them out with ERIC. I know what it takes, I have family who work at other Honda Dealerships and I don't write reviews for those places but this was worth my time. If your going to Royal Honda, be kind and ask for Eric, he and his service mechanics are getting the job done! From his understanding of customers and co-workers I believe he'd make a nice service manager some day, maybe even GM!
