However, this pub actually turned out to be somewhat better than expected, probably because the service was pretty good and they even had some nice beers on tap. Anyway considering Portland is, well, a Port, you probably shouldn't expect anything too hip and happening here, however, as it turns out, as a pub, this place actually wasn't all that bad.

Kind of makes you want to spend the day inside with a book rather than getting back out onto the road. The management had no problems with our late arrival (around 11:30pm) and provided good instructions on how to pick up keys and settle in. Very much recommended.

Breakfast was fab with a great omelet and even better coffee in a lovely room. The room was large and the victoriana just right. A definite highlight of our trip.
