I love this place. Plenty of parking in a private lot. I ordered hot on the spice level, but the food was low medium at best. One of the rare places where service food and decor is all there. Don't know what to try? Samosa chaat is chef's kiss. Fresh salad mixed with fried samosa and drizzling or sweet spicy and sour chutneys. Their curries are great with their naan too. Great service and spacious event hall. I have been here twice for yelp events and always found their food to be plentiful, delicious, and enough to host over 200 people. The wait staff are always attentive and courteous. My water was always filled and the plate cleared off pretty quickly for a large crew. The chicken was tasty and honestly the dessert was the highlight for me, an unassuming yellow pudding that had coconut shavings and fruit inside. This place is so good! Definitely my go-to Indian restaurant in the area. I dined in and gotten takeout from this spot and the food is great either way. Dining in: I visited with my family on a Sunday night. No wait and lots of seating. The restaurant is very clean and well decorated! The bathrooms are also clean. The only issue was that it seemed like their service is a bit slow, but nothing to complain about. For both takeout and dining in we order butter chicken, chicken saag, and chicken tikka masala. We also order samosas and naan, and this is more than enough to feed 4 people!! We get the medium spice and it's pretty spicy so be aware. We just relocated to San Diego from the East Coast. Prior to leaving the East Coast, A friend sent us an e gift of a substantial amount for dinner at the Royal India in Del Mar. They own three restaurants in San Diego. What we had received was an email of the confirmation from this restaurant. It was dated in April, 2026. The email even gave the exact time and date of the distribution of the gift certificate. The owner asked for the number of the gift certificate. The number was not on the email. It was not on the confirmation. The owner would not honor this substantial amount for the certificate. We were in disbelief that they wouldn't look up the certificate in their books for the certificate number. The email was officially from the restaurant. My friend is out his generous gift. I suggest he call his credit card and dispute the charge. I will never eat in any of their restaurants. They are not honest. They will never have us as customers. And I hope anyone reading this will remember to never purchase a gift certificate for Royal I Diana Restaurant. It leaves a horrible taste and awful experience in our new move to San Diego . Bad communication and bad service. We called 3 hours beforehand asking if we could use a gift card during their happy hour (before 6pm) and also get the 30% off part of happy hour. They said yes but said it is limited to only one gift card use per visit. We made a reservation for 530pm. Showed up... they made us wait for 5 min past our reservation time before somebody greeted us at the front entrance for check in. Then took another 5 min to grab a manager just to tell us we cannot use the gift card during their happy hour. Also whole place was mostly empty except for one dining table and I assume a small event was going on in their banquet hall. Seemed like a large ghost town when we walked in. Server and manager did not appear friendly or accomodating to us as a new customer despite their dining hall being almost empty... do not waste your time coming here. Lovely restaurant with nice vibes and very spacious to satisfy your Indian food cravings! We ordered their 1) chicken garlic malai kabab which is chicken marinated in yogurt, garlic, fresh herbs and cilantro and baked in a clay oven. The chicken came out sizzling on a hot plate with shredded cabbage and red onions on the bottom. It was perfectly seasoned and marinated and very moist and juicy! 2) chettinad chili curry with shrimp. This curry dish had a blend of chilies and spices in a nice bright and tangy sauce that was absolutely flavorful and delicious! It came with a side of fluffy basmati rice but I loved dipping my naan bread in the curry for that perfect bite! 3) onion spiced stuffed naan. This was baked to perfection and came out chewy, fresh and piping hot! Service was prompt and friendly and plenty of free parking in their lot. If there were this many flies in the dining area, I wonder how many there were in the kitchen and whether they did anything to keep the flies away from the dishes?? We tried the veggie samosas, which at only $5, were cheaper than what you can find at most establishments and they were very good. Came here on Sunday for lunch. This is in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. When we walked in, it wasnt busy. There were only 2 tables occupied. But when we left, it got really busy. Food was great. Ordered samosa for appetizers and it was served piping hot and they provide you with 2 sauces for dipping. I love the green one. I came to check out this location for an event. it is out of my usual normal places venture to eat. The location seems to be in a mini mall type of settings. So the parking is terrible not only is the parking car the pavement of the lot is so horrible and not lit well. The venue itself is quite the contrary. It has two entrances and appears to have two large areas which may be the main restaurant and then the banquet area. In addition, there is a large greeting area/bar. Truly this place is actually very massive. It was very clean, including the restrooms. The area I happened to dine in was the banquet area which was set up so beautifully. I'm not sure how old is venue is, again it was so clean and beautiful. We were served buffet style. Every dish was flavorful, seems to be made to order and well maintained during the dinner service. There is a stage and a lit up dance floor. I am not sure if those two items are there all the time but it was pretty cool. As I said, I went for an event, so I didn't get to check out their typical restaurant menu. If I am in that area again and have a great craving for Indian food, I would definitely want to go here to check it out normally. read more

Had a negative experience at their location in Gaslamp so was a little hesitant to come here, but SO GOOD!!! Ordered the Baingan Bharta (Togo) to try because we wanted to place an order for a potluck party, and we loved it! Really perfectly cooked, just the right about of spicy, and not too oily either. My first time having baingan bharta (but my husband has had it before while growing up in India) and we both loved it! Ended up ordering 2 portions for the party, and even friends enjoyed. I have been to the venue before, but at the event, I went to recently (Yelpies!) it felt like a completely different spot. It's a very well-put-together space, it's a full restaurant and bar in the main section and it has the said event space. Before I review further I want to explain why they lost 1 star. Many at my table decided to partake in the cash bar that is in the main restaurant. The consensus was watery/overly iced drinks that don't match the drink price. Now if the drinks were hiked up because of the event, shame on them, or if this is the norm then they need to re-evaluate. A white and red wine, the same size (a small cup) were respectively $11 and $15. That's highly disrespectful. I have another example of the drinks being weak and expensive but you get the point. Food - It was beautifully placed and though the flavor was pretty good, I have had better food, I was a little disappointed that they only had 1 single dessert but there was more than enough food and it was all the right temperature. Ambiance - They had a performer but I am not sure if that was just because of our event hosts (Yelp SD & Yelp North County). It's an overdue review for the best place ever. We booked our daughter's high school graduation party Their beautiful banquet. Sam took his time to sit with us and listen to what we want and gave us a lot of amazing ideas. We worked together for 6 months until the party date. The most prestigious fancy party our daughter's high school graduation party Everyone was just wowed including us. Everyone told us if this is how fancy is her graduation party how is her wedding going to be. Like yes this is how I imagined the party in my mind and Sam listened to me and delivered everything I imagined and beyond. The food was amazing as well. We ordered Indian and American food and honestly everyone enjoyed everything. We got the mixologist who Sam recommended for us and hired for us was one of the top hits of the night. I am still dreaming about all these drinks we had that night. And yes it was all non alcoholic drinks. The belly dancer was another hit that all my friends were just amazed by her again another recommendation by Sam that was a great one. Have I told you about the hummer limo? Holy moly they arrived earlier to my house and I took a ride for 15 min with my best friend :-) I wish I didn't cancel on the photographer as my friend did the photography for us and they came out good but it was stressful to kinda boss ur friend around lol. Royal India is one of the numerous Indian cuisine restaurants along the Miramar Rd corridor. This franchise also has locations in the Gaslamp, Del Mar, and an express suite inside the food court of the Westfield UTC Mall. There are plenty of available parking spaces within the shared lot of Miramar Landing. What makes this branch stand out is its banquet and catering capabilities. A large banquet hall is adjacent to the dining room which in itself is spacious with the tables spaced several feet apart. I imagine the on-site dining business has been significantly impacted by the pandemic restrictions. The reason I came here was a promotional coupon for buy one, get one free entree. The list of appetizers, biryani, curries, and tandoori seemed fairly standard to what I have seen with other similar eateries in this area. My two entrees were the Royal Lamb Coconut Malai and the Chicken Mango Pineapple. I asked for mild spiciness to each dish, plus I bought some plain naan to go with the basmati rice that came with the order. The first item was described as marinated lamb cooked in a sweetened coconut creamy curry with cashew almond paste and raisins. I would say that the flavor profile was even sweeter than I had expected. A few more pieces of meat would have been nice to enhance the amount of protein in the dish. The second curry was boneless chicken marinated in yogurt and spices and then cooked in a fruity mango pineapple curry. The mango and pineapple fruitiness did stand out in the curry. I liked the mixture of spices in this item more than the first one. The amount of food I received for the price was on par with the competition. The coupon made this order a great value. Overall, I felt that my take-out experience was in between a three and a four star rating. read more
