While I appreciate that this hospital has several public washrooms available, I was really disappointed to find no change tables anywhere near the emergency department -- in fact, not one on the entire floor. As a parent with a 6-month-old, this made an already stressful visit even harder. A hospital is one of the places that should absolutely be equipped for families with infants. I hope they consider adding change tables soon to make the space more accessible and family-friendly. read more

My wife was admitted into emergency care yesterday afternoon from a request from her Doctor, This all went great and she received the care that she required, my problem is that about half way through her examination , she was taken down to have a CT scan done of her blood veins to her heart was the last that I had heard sitting here at home 45 kilo's away. Then I get a phone call asking if I was her spouse, and if I was in the hospital this all made on my home land line. and explaining this was the emergency ward looking for my wife, this is rather an heart braking call to receive from a Hospital that is suppose to be taking care of your wife at the time, I feel that they maybe need to tighten up on there procedure's so they don't upset a patients care givers or partners. This is not the type of calls that one likes to hear from a hospital that is suppose to be taking care of their partner at 10 pm in the evening. read more

The ER has not yet been redone so is still old looking but the trauma wing!!!!! Is beautiful!!!! Opened in July and is incredible! Clean, bright and all the latest tech!!!! The reason I only gave this place four stars is because they are so short on staff! The staffing shortages have led to less RNs on shift so medications take 1-2 hours to receive when asked for so you really need to plan ahead esp if your protocol is supposed to be every 3-4th hour. There are some SUPER AMAZING & lovely staff members -- Christa -- our triage nurse was FANTASTIC, intuitive & a life saver truly!! Some other increíble staff we have been blessed to get to know on the 8th floor (Trauma) RNs Becky, Rebekah and Correne!!!! LPNs and Care Aids Pearl, Lazzlo, Erin & Evette. A few others to list but I suck with names! I know trying their best w what they have despite being so overworked -- but these ones listed have truly gone above & beyond!!! Thank you to Dr Brownley and Dr Ganji for your amazing bed side manner, & especially your wisdom & talent as surgeons! We are forever grateful! End of the day the govt / powers above need to get their ish together to fix the staffing issues as this is ridiculous--they are over worked and running around like chickens w their heads cut off. Another point -- hospitals need to up their standard of food. With less than 10g of questionable protein per meal but tons of fat and carbohydrates -- it would be in everyone's best interest to make some changes. I've always thought this but now that I've lived it again but as an adult wow. read more

Like many others, I was born and raised here in Kamloops, and therefore, have a tendency to stand up for it. However, I must say I am very disappointed in how things turned out to be, both during covid-19 and afterwards. I understand things were wild, but there was NEVER a need to be or act prejudice against those of colour or of those who struggle with substance abuse... I am not the only one to witness and hear nurses and/or doctors negative comments about loved ones, about the PATIENTS, because of their background (understood, they are not all like this). This is all very recent and presently ongoing. I have personally seen some "healthcare providers" treat patients better than others (while both patients are mannered just the same), as you sit there for hours patiently waiting, you witness consultations/care from start to finish and the quality of that care... It's not good RIH. Today, I would personally schedule any surgeries or ongoing care at another hospital or clinic (IF POSSIBLE). I look forward to improvements. Kukwstsetsemc (Thank you). They're sick people who only to love working on crackheads for a quick buck. most of the nur barely help & make others do their job. Half of them are unprofessional & should be unemployed for how they treat others while their JOB IS TO HELP. Disgusting human behaviour & shouldn't have gone to work if going through something that makes them Irritated the whole day to be neglectful & negative. i was at emergency sunday, june 9th between around 5:30 pm until approximately 8:15 pm. everyone from registering. the 1st nurse i saw. dr. herbert, all nurses inside the er, were truly amazing. they were attentive, caring, compassionate and efficient with a nice humour also. i had 2 blood tests, 1 ekg, 1 xray, and all staff deserve a first class rating. thank you er for being so fantastic. you made me relax. dr. herbert was so thorough, and even though he was so busy, he was so thorough, and i knew i was in great hands. kamloops we are lucky to have such a wonderful er team. read more

The patient care the staff everything is below par substandard. Everything is actually disgusting. It's confusing with little to no help navigating the hospital, especially during the construction phase. Which will never end because the hospital is already outdoor grown any future development. The current coffee shops in restaurant charge disgusting prices for disgusting. Food is absolute embarrassment and they should be ashamed. read more

I had spent a lot of time in royal inland hospital and had nothing but amazing nurses doctors and care aids

Recently spent 8 weeks in hospital, the first two weeks in Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital. What can be said about a place the pulls you back from the brink and saves your life. I was brought in suffering sepsis bordering on septic shock. The ER doctors recognized it quickly and started me on a course of treatment which ultimately saved my life, even though they weren't sure I'd make it through the night. I cannot say enough about the nurses and care aides that took care of me. They were always right there when needed. Amazing hospital and I was actually sad to be transferred closer to home read more

I have NEVER been disappointed or had anything less than praise for this facility. Everyone loves to bash health care. It seems if you are a public servant, you are fair game for abuse. This is an amazing hospital. So lucky to have it. And its only getting better and better with all the additions. Kamloops is turning out to be one little amazing city , with an outstanding university and unbeatable sports facilities. read more
