This friendly pub is set in one of the loveliest villages in Nottinghamshire and I love going here after work. It has 29 acres of village green right outside which is believed to be the largest rural common in England. It's great to sit outside in the summer and watch a game of cricket, get house envy or watch the cows eating the grass. There is a campsite out back as well and the field is also used for other events such as Old Car Rallies.
Inside there is a restaurant area to the left and a lounge area to the right with an unusual vaulted ceiling. Food is good value and down to earth with light bites around £7.00 (these are just enough for a decent meal with dessert - the bigger dishes are huge!!!) I always enjoy trying out the guest ales which are described on a board near the bar.
All in all it's a great place for a summer afternoon's drinking or a relaxing meal which everyone in the family will enjoy. read more
