Not a good experience at all! At first, he told us free in person quote，So we scheduled a time to meet, he arrived, picked up some tools and immediately started trying to open the garage door. He said it would be $75 just to open the door and get inside to inspect and check the issue. After he went in, less than 30 minutes later, he told us the door was "open." But when we looked, it was only lifted about 11 inches（30 cm）and held up with a tool. Then he said that after inspecting, he found "the long bar has a lot of holes and became very weak, causing the spring to lose all the tension and get damaged," and that we needed to replace the bar and the springs for $850. I told him my garage door was newly installed in Oct 2021 and still under warranty for the springs and parts, so I only planned to pay the $75 for lift the door. Then suddenly he changed his words and said it was not $75, but $275! Come on--my English is not good, but there is no way I misheard the price. If I knew it was $275 just to "lift the door," I would NEVER have agreed. Plus, my friend who speaks perfect English also heard him clearly say $75, not $275! We almost called the police, but it was close to my child's school pickup time, so I didn't have time to argue with him. In the end, we paid him the $75 in cash and told him to leave. This is dishonest business mode. Very shady, very misleading. Don't fall for it. Do NOT let them touch anything without confirming the price first--and even if you confirm it, make them WRITE IT DOWN, or they will deny what they said later. When your technician returned to inspect the garage door, he took only a brief look and attributed the problem to the cable. He did not perform what I believed to be a thorough inspection. After that visit, I had two other technicians inspect the garage door. Both of them stated that the spring size installed by your company was incorrect. Based on that, I lost confidence in your company's ability to identify and correct the actual problem. Throughout this matter, your company repeatedly emphasized that certain actions on my part would void the warranty. At this point, I am not requesting warranty service from your company. I am requesting that your company take responsibility for the original work performed. The parts installed by your company have since been removed. The repair and parts provided by your company did not resolve the problem with my garage door. As a result, I had to pay additional money for further repairs after the door became unusable. Your company also removed my original parts, including the spring and tube, without asking for my permission or giving me the option to keep them. Your response also referred to "poor communication" on my part. I do not agree with that characterization. I communicated my concerns clearly and multiple times. The issue here is not my communication, but the failure of the original repair and your company's refusal to acknowledge the incorrect spring size identified by two other technicians. Under these circumstances, I do not believe my request for a refund is unreasonable. I paid for a repair that did not resolve the problem, the parts installed by your company were later removed, and I incurred additional costs to restore the garage door to working condition. So we had been shopping for a new garage door and once I saw the reviews and stars Mesa had gotten we looked again so I received many quotes but Roy was very persistent and convincing. My garage door has been acting up for the last few weeks and finally it got to the point where it wouldn't close so I needed to replace the door opener system I called Royale Garage Door Repair and spoke with Roy, the office manager and he reviewed my problems. I asked him if they took credit cards and offered a Military discount and he assured me they did both. I made an appointment for the Tech to come out latter that day. The tech Ben, showed up on time in his personal SUV no company markings on it and a T-Shirt that just said Garage Door Repairs but no reference to Royale Garage door CO. I asked him if he worked for Royale Garage door company and he said yes he did. He reviewed my system. I told him I just needed the door opener system replaced. He suggested that I get a side mounted system which was much better and stronger than the overhead style I had. It sounded good so I asked him how much that would cost and he quoted over $6,000!! I told him NO nothing like that. He then suggested that He has a Liftmaster overhead system that was really good. How much? It would be over $4,000!!! Oh heck no I told him nothing like that, he then said he has a lift master overhead for $1,800 minus my Military discount would make it around $1,600. He removed the old system and installed the new one without any issues. Once installed he said I should replace the two coil springs for $700 more as they were old and would be a good time to replace them and he wouldn't charge me any additional labor, I thought the price included labor and he said no, his labor would be $275 more!!!! I'm really starting to feel uneasy about this whole transaction now. I just felt that it should be done so he did that. Once he installed the two coil springs he went to his car and brought back a package of new rollers and new cables. He said it would be $700 more but he would do it for just $500. Nope, I'm done. I had to ask him about the remote control for door. He got it out of the box, programmed it and gave it to me. I asked him if there was another remote and he said no, only one. I told him I had two cars, he said another remote would cost me another $100. I'm retired and 78 years old and I started to feel like he was gouging and taking advantage of an elderly person. We started to settle the bill and that's when I found out that by using a Credit Card he would charge me an additional 3%. I feel like that should have been disclosed when I talked to Roy the office Manager at the very beginning. The Tech did not even Lube the new springs he installed. As much as I hate using ladders at my age I got my ladder out and lubed it after he left and lubed all the springs and hinges myself. I'm giving this company 2 stars only because the system is working perfect but their business model/practice if very questionable. I use Yelp to find services that have been vetted, when my garage door opener broke I looked up these guys on yelp and saw that they had a high star rating so I decided to use them. They responded rapidly so I set an appointment to come fix my opener. When the rep come out all appeared good after his assessment he quoted me $1,000 to replace the opener I commented that it sounded a little hi and immediately he said he had to make some calls to see what he could do which immediately I felt he was going to nickel and dime me so then he said we can do it for $850 so I said is the total price will there be anything else needed and he assured me that would be all so at that point I said go ahead since I was in a hurry to leave. Upon completion of the job the door only opened half way so I asked what's wrong and he said oh you will need to replace the springs as well so that was another $500 or $600 I said could you not have checked the springs before and given me an honest estimate and immediately he started stammering so I knew my gut feeling of being nickeled and dimed was correct. I have no problem paying, that wasn't the issue its like I felt nickeled and dimed instead of being given an accurate estimate up front. I will not use this firm again so I will say BUYER BEWARE if you decide to use these guys get the estimate in writing to make sure you don't get put in the position that I was put in and end up spending almost $1,400 which was much more than the originally quoted and at the end when I gave him my credit card he said there is an additional 5% to use a card again couldn't you have said that up front based on the method of payment that was going to be used. 5 star is limitation of yelp, not Dan. His work quality is out of the chart. Upon arrive, he explained in detailed of what can be reused and what can not and why. They are makes sense so we proceed with the repair. My garage door retention spring failed and Dan fixed it really well. The garage door is really old so a lot of design just make repair really hard. No complains from Dan, just roll up the sleeves and do it. During the repair, more and more issues pop out. Things like pulley wheel that is too expensive, he give me a discount. Things like track rollers and brackets that are not that crazy, he just through them on the project for free. He keep going back to his truck, takes some hardware and told me: this is on my. Again because the the door is old, it takes a lot of effort to fix the spring and attached the cable to bottom of the garage door. He spent more than 2hrs on a job that is like 400bucks including hardware and labor. I am glad I did not do it myself. It looks so simple on YouTube. When I called this company I was impressed with their response on a Sunday evening. Shocked actually. They were professional and communicative when the repair man was running late. When the repair man arrived I was less impressed. He looked at the door and decided to tell me that most people who run into their doors are women and that it couldn't be fixed. No one could fix it... supposedly. Then he said he could get the door to close for $500 or he could fix it the best he could for $650, but that it would probably need to be replaced for thousands of dollars. I called my husband to confer and as I was on the phone relaying the information, he dropped the price twice from $550 to $450 then to $400!! We decided to turn him away and try elsewhere. Before he left, he asked for $20 for the house call, even though the person who booked the appointment said there would be no charge. So unprofessional. One of my garage door stop working, and I found Dan on yelp and called him right away. He was very responsive and was able to come to my house within an hour to check out what's the problem. Once here, he diagnose the problem and explain to me exactly what was wrong and suggested replacing the garage opener, which I later agree to. Luckily, he has the exact equipment I need so we were able to get it fix right away. Dan was very efficient and knowledgeable and took about an hour to install the new garage opener and handle the whole process with care and professionalism. I was very glad to find him on yelp, and be able to fix my garage in such short amount of time. There was literally no time wasted and after the new garage opener is installed, he show me how to access it on the app, which was a feature I always wanted. Roy came right out. Looked at opener and said it was 22 years old and worn out. After a quick examination he said a gear was damaged and slipping. Said he could do a temporary fix for $500 but no warranty. Or he could install a new one. $1500 for a basic model or $2000 for a heavy duty one which he recommended. I hesitated and said I wasn't planning to spend that much and would wait. Then he said he would do the temporary repair for $250 since he was already there. I approved and he did a quick fix in about 15 minutes. It worked again so I paid him and he left. The next day I had another man come out. He said the opener was fine. But the door had been sticking badly on one side and the steel brackets were badly bent. He straightened them out and put a wooden block in. Then he heavily lubricated the door and frame and it's working perfectly now. So I got ripped off. Thankfully I didn't spend two grand on a new opener that wasn't needed Upon seeing my review, the owner called and offered me a full refund. Which I accepted. I hope they discontinue the approach that was used with me. I doubt Roy will do that again read more
