We had our father's memorial service at the Royale and because of the staff's care, alot of anxiety was diminished. Prior to the date of the service, we were able to visit with both Dave & Marcia as we were working on the arrangements. Both were extremely helpful. The selection of the buffet was comforting and enjoyable. The waiting staff were both prompt and polite. We had the memorial service prior to the meal, and everything went smoothly. Attended a wedding at this venue, the ceremony was outside which was so beautiful! The reception was inside, it was big and well lit. They had a cute little fountain area inside that also had a live parrot that talked, which was pretty neat as well! Plenty of parking, a cutesy pink bathroom, and the bartender April was super nice and worked very hard to keep us well hydrated. The only thing I didn't love was the manager. She was rude multiple times to myself and my friends, but other than that it was great! read more

We attended a Saturday brunch at the venue. This is a very good place for a meeting, celebration, or any event. Requiring a comfortable, accessible environment with many selections of good buffet foods! It's been decades of teacher-banquets, proms, wedding receptions, awards ceremonies, etc. always a good selection of dishes and the staff will do all they can to accommodate special-diet requirements. My friends had their reception there and as I was eating my salad, I kept trying to cut and prod at a piece of lettuce. After several attempts, I scooped up the lettuce and realized that it wasn't lettuce, it was a rubber glove! I immediately told the wait staff who sent over the owner, Forrest. He acted like he could have cared less and said he didn't know what happened. I later caught Forrest in the hallway near where the bathrooms are, and asked again about the glove in the salad and told him this is likely a health violation. He went and got the high school kid who mixed the salads and asked if he put a glove in the salad. Of course, the kid said "no". I have to assume(hope) it was an accident. Forrest's dismissiveness and unprofessionalism about the situation couldn't have been more frustrating. Mistakes can happen, but to not take responsibility for it, and try to pawn it off on a high school kid was pretty unbecoming of an owner. I would not recommend Royale Orleans for any event. read more

We hosted our daughter's wedding here and it was amazing. The dinner was delicious and we received many compliments from our guests. Desserts were supplied by the Blue Owl, which is famous for their pies. What a treat! The wait staff was very attentive to our needs and the bartenders kept a special eye out for the bride and groom, making sure they didn't wait in line for their drinks. The woman in charge of our event was very helpful and had many suggestions, not only to make our event run smoothly, but also on how we could save money. She made planning our daughter's wedding very easy. Finally, the room! This venue was made for a live band! There was plenty of room for the band to set up and the acoustics were outstanding! We danced all night on the dance floor which was easily big enough to accommodate a large crowd, but not so big that it looked empty. I'm very happy with this venue, from top to bottom! We will be able to look back on our daughter's big night with nothing but great memories! I wouldn't think twice about returning here for a special event. read more

Was here for a wedding reception. Tiny food portions and the woman's bathroom smelled worse than a port a potty.

Positives: 1. Certainly doesn't feel pretentious 2. If you are at a banquet hall it probably means something joyous is happening in your own or someone close to you's life. Negatives: Parking is a mess--not that drunk people should be driving, but if they are, expect some new dings on your bumper. The food was abhorrent. I don't know if they allow outside catering, but if so, get it. Boiled ham, boiled beef slices with no seasoning. Like eating shoe leather. The wall dividing the place only allows for two openings so there are definite choke points if you pack the place to capacity. This place feels like the 1970's. Definitely needs some love. read more

I have been raving about the Orleans (?) sauce on the sliced beef ever since the event we attended here! So delicious - kinda like au jus mixed with horseradish somehow. Super tasty! Space seemed ok, bathrooms seemed kinda small, no separate bathroom/dressing area for bridal party than for wedding guests caused a back-up as guests arrived for the event. read more

Pretty standard venue for an event. The bartender we had was fantastic and the servers were cool. The food was mediocre. Roast beef was dry without an jus or gravy and the salad was drown in dressing. The spread of appetizers were good as was the cheese plate. read more

We booked our wedding with Royale Orleans and were initially very excited about how easy they were to work with. However, the DJ was a disaster, and when we asked for a refund on our DJ services (he didn't call until 6am the day before the wedding and then "forgot" everything we talked about the day of the wedding), the owner said that we should just be happy that everyone had food and alcohol. Long story short, if you want a cookie-cutter standard event and don't want anything special, probably a decent venue. But if you want things done any way other than "their way," expect to be belittled, badgered, and disappointed. read more

Craptastic just like so many of the other full-time wedding venue locations. The place has no ambiance. It's just a large room with a dance floor in one corner and a bar in another. If you weren't drinking and celebrating you'd notice more. I am sure that these wedding halls are the easiest option, but if you want your reception to be memorable to all, choose something different. Hell... I think a party in a barn would be more fun. read more

I've been to a bunch of wedding receptions at the Royale Orleans and I've never had a bad time. If you're looking for a venue that will host a casual but nice reception, Royale Orleans is the place to do it. I'm sure they put on a nice banquet or other party as well. The food is good- especially for buffet style food- and most of the staff members are friendly. Except the bartenders. I've never run into a nice bartender at the Royale Orleans. Another downfall of the Royale Orleans is their parking lot. The spaces are super close together and it's almost impossible to get out. So, all in all, this is a good place to have a party, but I'd ask for friendly bartenders and perhaps I'd throw my party on a weeknight to avoid traffic issues. read more

We had an alumni gathering for 70 people and it went really well. The food was excellent and the bar service was very good, too. Prices were very reasonable and the food service was great. If we hold another event in the future, we will most assuredly consider this venue. I had my wedding here at Royale Orleans and I would not recommend it to my family or friends. I think it would be perfect for non-wedding events. The venue itself provides you with many convenient options such as room décor (including room up lighting), chair covers/table runners, wedding invitations, ice carvings, photo booth options, wedding cake discount through McArther's Bakery, and very convenient wedding packages that include many buffet menu options, bar service, china service, and room décor. They really pride themselves as being 'the one-stop shop'. They truly make it very convenient and affordable to create your desirable wedding. Initially, when I discussed the details about the wedding including food, music, beverage, décor, I was immediately hooked and booked the venue within a few days. The staff, including general manager were very easy-going, approachable, and friendly. The venue offers in-house DJ service in which you do not pick your own DJ(he Wedding Show at the America's Center is when I found this out, it was not in contract ). The staff at the venue are very unorganized. An example: I went to a cake tasting with one of the staff at the venue and selected my layers and flavors. The staff member (who I do not wish to name) wrote down the details to our cake to provide to McArther's. After the tastings, I still received calls asking me to recite what I had chosen for my cake because she said she "lost the paperwork." At my final meeting just 2 days before the wedding, I received paperwork to sign regarding the cake agreement, and it ended up being the wrong layers, frostings, etc. once again. Another example: I went to select and finalize décor at the venue (chair covers, table runners, table skirts, etc) with the same staff member that could not get my cake order correct. As I was selecting décor for my wedding, I noticed that the staff member wasn't taking notes or writing anything down. I asked her if I can have paper and pen to write it for her because I want to make sure she remembers. She said she will remember everything I tell her because she has does weddings almost every weekend. I had to write my own details for her to make copies to keep in her file. This lack of organization and professionalism created many stresses for me as the bride. I had to make sure to follow up on everything. And still during the Wedding day some of the details weren't accurate. My wedding day was very beautiful and my florist Crimson Petal and décor company Exclusive Events, Inc really did an incredible job with the beautiful "St. Louis Ballroom" at Royale Orleans. They have inexperienced servers for dinner. The food was OK. I was cutting into my chicken as the server came by asking if I am finished so he can take my plate. Dinner seemed very rushed and my guests came to me stating that they didn't get enough time to eat their meals. There was also lack of communication between my vendors and Royale Orleans staff that stayed to close the event. Overall my wedding was amazing. The Royale Orleans staff are laid-back, easy-going, and flexible (they let us bring some of our own food in from local restaurants and they allowed an out of house band to play), however, it really made it stressful for me as the bride because I couldn't necessarily keep track of everything during the day of the wedding. If only I had hired a planner to keep things in order it would have really been perfect! read more

We recently had our wedding and reception at the Royale Orleans on 11/11/11. It was the most wonderful day of our lives. The staff were very nice and helpful. They do everything there for you. I was amazed that I didn't have to worry about catering, cake, DJ, or Decorating. They do it all there for you. The Royale Orleans really made my special day stress free and oh so much fun!! It is important to know about the bad business practices that Royale Orleans' Owner Forest Miller practices. On 10/31/2009, I toured a room of Royale Orleans, and liked the facility. The "tour guide" suggested I come back ASAP with a deposit check if I wanted to reserve the room because space was filling up quickly. She called me that same week to make sure I was coming in with a check that following Saturday. I brought the check that Saturday, and signed the contract. It was my understanding that I would forfeit the deposit ($500 USD) should I cancel my event. If the space was to be rebooked, then 50% of the deposit would be returned- only quarterly, after the room is successfully rescheduled. During the next ten days, my fiance's father and my mother were both laid off from their jobs. Instead of having their financial assistance for our wedding & reception, we assumed full financial responsibility for the event ourselves. I typed a cancellation letter on 11/18/2009, TEN BUSINESS DAYS after handing over the deposit check. I went in with my Fiance to discuss with the owner- FORREST MILLER. Things did not go well. My Fiance was wearing a St. Louis Fire Department hat this day, and is in fact a St. Louis City Fireman. Forrest Miller brought attention to the hat and said, "Are you a St. Louis Fireman"? My Fiance said, "Yes, what about it?" Forrest said threateningly, "I know the Chief, Sherman George." My fiancé replied, "Sherman George hasn't been the Chief in almost a year now." Forrest then got defensive and replied, "How can you expect me to refund your deposit knowing you are going to go back to the Fire Department and tell every Fireman that you got out of a contract here?" My Fiance replied, "Well now I am going to tell everyone I know NOT to book their events here because this is bad business." My Fiance and I were appalled that Forrest Miller would treat us subordinately knowing that my now Husband is a St. Louis Fireman. We felt slighted and tricked. In addition, no matter what, even after TEN DAYS and FINANCIAL STRIFE within our families, he was keeping $250 REGARDLESS that no manpower went into our event. He said that he pays his employees to give tours and they gave us a tour. The tour was ten minutes long, constantly interrupted by future clients calling and waling in. No incidental fees were incurred by the owner during the 10 days that they received and cashed the check. I was never contacted, or rendered any services. This Owner- Forrest Miller, has no compassion at all for families in an economy as we have today. This man could not return a deposit 10 days after signing the contract, out of good faith. Simply could not accept the opportunity to turn a BAD situation into good. I work two jobs in order to keep up- both for local private business owners. After confiding in both men, they agree that this was BAD BUSINESS and Forrest Miller should have, out of good faith & compassion- returned the $250. This facility and the employees never invested one minute of time or energy into planning our event one year from the date the contract was signed. ALSO, the 50% deposit will only be returned if the ENTIRE FACILITY is full to capacity on our day. FINE PRINT! This contract was designed to scam unassuming and honest individuals out of their hard earned money. I never received a penny back from my $500. They never booked ANY of the rooms that night. I hate to repeat myself. Since we could not commit to a $5,000 party, we had to cancel ONE FULL YEAR in advance, and 10 days after we put the deposit down! 10 days=$500 to this private business owner. BAD BUSINESS! Please tell everyone you know to STAY AWAY from this place!!!!!!!!! read more

Don't spend your money here unless you"re desperate! Needs some serious updating and the food is cheap, soggy and flat out gross. Parking lot is poorly designed, when it's full it's hard to get around in. Just seems like the owners are cheap and don't want to put any effort into the place so I wouldn't put any money into supporting them. read more

We had our 50th wedding anniversary at the Royale Orleans yesterday, July 2nd. I don't think we could ever find a more perfect place. The entire staff, from top to bottom, were as professional and co-operative as anyone could be. I am a retired chef and F&B director and I was very apprehensive anyone could handle our party as well as I could but they sure did. Linda was the Representative that helped us to coordinate the party. She guided us in our selections and was very accommodating to our needs.
