Since I am so rarely impressed by a business, it becomes easy to focus on the negatives. To counteract this, when things go well, I am attempting to make it a point to say so. Hence this review. I recently worked with Lone Star Tax Advisors to protest property taxes at two homes in Houston (my main residence and a rental property). My experience with Lone Star was excellent. Here's why: - Fees - The service fees that Lone Star offered were based on a percentage of any property tax savings they were able to negotiate. Their percentage was substantially less than what I had seen from their competitors. This saved me significant amounts of money. - Efficiency - Only a single, brief phone call was required. They never contacted me for any additional information. Within a few months, I had received comprehensive reports from them detailing the property tax hearings and the results. It was extremely easy and required almost no work on my part whatsoever. - Results - Lone Star was able to reduce the appraised taxable value on my main residence by a substantial percentage. This will save me significant money, both at tax time this year and in years ahead. I was very surprised (pleasantly) at the reduction they were able to achieve. The results were excellent and made me wish I had signed up with them years ago. - Honesty - They were not able to negotiate a reduction in the taxable value of my rental property. They stated this clearly in their report, and they explained why. I appreciated their professional opinion on the matter and agree with it. Furthermore, there are no service fees to be paid when no tax reduction is achieved. At no cost to me, this process gave me confidence that my rental house property taxes were fair. - Payment System - After receiving the reports, I used their online payment system to settle my bill. Very easy and straight forward. Within minutes it was all taken care of. I am very pleased with Lone Star Tax Advisors. I plan to continue working with them in the future and I have been recommending them to my friends and coworkers as well.

This is to let other people know my experience. I feel incredibly taken advantage of for my ignorance in the tax world and they monetized on that. After I couldn't handle it any longer, I was in there office I still tried to fix it I did the research on my own and explained all the unnecessary services, services that didn't even apply to my line of business. I was promise a refund "zelle" (we all know how fast that goes) smh what a joke because 1 month later still nothing still avoiding me dodging calls always in meetings "supposedly" I'm so disappointed it's sickening. Please do your research on tax professionals but don't come here either they genuinely just don't care or they are just overwhelmed with business they can't handle it. Either way you could get screwed and there is no place for that when trying to build a business and it's counterproductive so save yourself the drama and just don't!............ trust me.

The actual fees…read morefor the 2020 returns were $2,225 for the S-corporation return and $1,275 for the individual return" 1- This adds up to more than what was quoted which was $2,000-2,500. 2- When I first received invoices for that year, it totaled to $6997 which started my confusion. You can see the attached email. The CPA agreed to lower it to $2500 (not $2500 + $1275). So, it seems the billing system is inconsistent and confusing even for staff. 3- After finally seeing an itemized bill, I'm not comfortable speaking with your firm since you charge $130-198 for emails and phone calls.

When I asked if I could meet with an accountant, I was told that I'd have to pay a $100.00 consultation fee that would NOT count towards my final charges for the preparation. When I asked how much it would cost to prepare my taxes, she told me I could go over that when I met with the accountant and to bring all my tax stuff with me to the consultation. So bottom line is I have to pay this company $100.00 to 1. Tell me if they can even do my taxes and 2. Tell me how much it's gonna cost to prepare my taxes? And she wants me to bring all my tax documents?? Get real.
