We usually go here for Father's Day because my father loves catfish. The food is always good and we have great service. But this last visit was a mixed experience. I'll start with the positives. The catfish is the best you will get anywhere. They're always consistent. Also, they have steak fries, and the salad bar has returned since the end of the COVID lunacy. The food was overall good, with the biggest issue being that they ran out of coke slaw 1 hour after opening. I can't imagine how this happens when every grocery store around has cabbage and mayonnaise. But, I would still give 4 or five stars if this was the only issue. Then there was Enrique. Enrique was our waiter, and my impression of him is that he is the proverbial "pimple on the ass" of an otherwise great restaurant. Either management is giving him responsibilities that keep him from doing his job, or he lacks ambition and/or intelligence to do the job. Enrique basically took our order and did nothing but bring us the check afterward. A waitress with a knee brace gave us our refills, and I provided the salad bowls, steak sauce, and other condiments. The icing on the cake is that because we had a large party, he got 15% automatically. Why should this dummy get paid for nothing, and I get screwed for having seven people? It's like Joe Biden is running the restaurant!! Or maybe they're recruiting workers from Tuscaloosa. We'll go back. But if Enrique shows up to wait on us, I'll leave and go elsewhere. read more

Rubens was fun but we were slightly disappointed by the catfish filets. You can order a filet or the whole fish. Everyone in our party ordered the 2 filet plate but the filets together were smaller than others we have seen in Mississippi. They weren't good enough to justify teeny tiny gourmet restaurant serving size portions. That said, the filets were well cooked and tasty and most of the sides were fine. Hush puppies were clearly from frozen the insides were not tender at all. For the money, there may be better choices for catfish in the area. read more
