First and last time ordering here. $30 gives you much more food elsewhere, and better tasting. Their rice is undercooked, not to mention their large fried rice is a medium elsewhere. The boneless spare rib tips are chewy and taste mostly like cartilage, not to mention their small container doesn't even get filled all the way. The mount of meat in the small container is the amount you'd get in a lunch combination plate. Their fried chicken wings have little flavor and aren't equally proportional. 2 of my 4 wings were significantly undersized. They also chop the tips off the larger wings, and I enjoy my tips. That experience and extra meat was taken from me. I typically go to Yang Zi Jiang, and this is exactly why. Rather skip Chinese food altogether next time than to explore other options just because YZJ closes earlier. read more

We have taken out food many times. It went down hill about 5 or six years ago. We tried it last year and it was fantastic. Got food there this weekend and it was horrible. Boneless spare ribs were 25% gristle and bone. Teriyaki beef was so tough we couldn't eat it. The onions in the pork fried rice were the tough outer layer and could chew them either. The wonton soup had oil or grease floating on the the top. Won't be back anytime soon. read more

Lunch special is really good. They are on DoorDash and other sites I believe. They delivered the order super fast and it was really hot when I opened the containers. The food is delicious. I really like how they fried the rice and used a brown sauce instead of other spots that use a yellowish one. The chicken broccoli was made similarly and was fantastic. Wow. What a hidden gem. This place is excellent. I would call this the New York style Chinese, so you can save yourself a trip to China town in New York! The food itself is honestly the second best Chinese i ever had. Can't believe i just now discovered this place. Strongly recommend it. It will most definitely be a go to spot for me going forward. As a local, I have always loved Rubys. I always order online and the service is super quick. The general tso's chicken is amazing. Their dinner specials are a good price and come with fried rice and an egg roll. You can substitute rice for lo mein too. We got a free item which was the spring rolls and they are delicious as well. They serve your standard-issue Chinese take-out menu in fact you don't even need to look at the menu, because it is exactly the same as every other Chinese take-out menu in the state (except for the ones in downtown Hartford that also serve an entire selection of Spanish and Puerto Rican foods... weird). The fried wontons contain a weird mystery meat (pork? chicken?), the Hunan Pork and Szechuan Chicken, and Hot & Spicy beef all taste oddly similar, and the lo mein is greasy. However - all of this is OK because when you order Chinese take-out, you do so with the understanding that you are not going to be getting a fine-dining experience. In fact, I expect my Chinese take-out to be a little gross, and I believe it is totally normal to feel the need to shower after eating an order of General Tso's Chicken with a side of pork fried rice. If either of those don't happen, then I feel that something is amiss. read more

Eggroll was really good. Tender, hot, not at all greasy... LoMein was okay. Only issue on that was waaay to salty. Steamed Dumplings were good. Filling was tasty and wrapped was tender, not chewy. Unfortunately, the General Tso combo with H.S. Fried Rice was inedible. Rice was dry and chewy as was the over cooked, dried out chicken. I tried a few bites of each and tossed it out. Will I try them again ? Based on the rolls and Dumplings, maybe. I'd mention going easy on the salt, and I'd go with wok cooked rather than deep fried. I've had better, I've had worse. For what it is, Ruby isn't bad. It's Chinese take out. You're not going to get gourmet cuisine if you order Chinese delivery in Connecticut. They're heavy on the salt (probably MSG despite what their menu says), but it's palatable, the portions are very generous, and it gets the job done when you're hungry. It's drunk food. Plus, they're incredibly fast with delivery. They'll tell you 45 minutes when you order, and be at your door in 20 minutes. It makes you worry about how the get the food ready that fast (probably scooping it from vats of old pre-made food), but like I said... drunk food. Don't order it for the quality: order it for the convenience and quantity. They also have very polite staff who will basically double your portions on your next order if you tip even what most people consider the minimum (15-20%). All in all - it's fast food. Don't expect much. You're not going to expect a Gordon Ramsay burger at McDonald's; don't expect a gastric revolution here. It's generic, but it doesn't taste bad and the service you get is worth sacrificing a little quality when you've had one too many and don't have anything in the house to cook. This is why I will always check Yelp before going someplace new! Ordered from this place based on the reviews shown in the google search, which were mostly good (4.2 out of 5). My meal, on the other hand, was NOT good, in any sense. Shrimp and broccoli were overcooked to the point that the broccoli was falling apart. General Tso's chicken was totally soggy, with clear liquid floating in the bottom, and underneath the thin top layer of actual chicken, the rest of the container was steamed veggies (which might have been fine, except that I expect to be paying $10 for actual chicken unless I order chicken AND fill-in-the-blank. I kinda feel as though I was ripped off on that one. Pork egg roll tasted, inexplicably, like reheated frozen fish. Basically, the only thing this place got right was the steamed rice and the fortune cookies. Look elsewhere. There are other Manchester area delivery places that can give you a much better product. I spent $25 hoping to have a few days of leftovers. Instead, I'll be tossing $25 worth of food in the garbage. read more

Consistently good Chinese food. Don't be turned off by the rundown strip mall, the food is really good. We order the Singapore noodles and Hunan chicken religiously. The sauces on the dishes at Ruby are not as thick and heavy as some Chinese restaurants. The veggies in the dishes are also plentiful and fresh. My first experience with Ruby was very good. I ordered the Seafood Special with a pint of pork fried rice. The taste was very good, some of the better Chinese food I've had. The vegetables were crisp and delicious and the Seafood was especially tasty. My only criticism is that there was a bit too much processed crab pieces, advertised as crab. I was skeptical to order from Ruby based on some of these reviews and I probably should have listened and stuck with our usual favorite, Main Wah Kitchen, also located in Manchester. We ordered crab rangoons (chewy and flavorless), Kung pao chicken (also flavorless) and orange chicken (fatty and gave me a stomachache). The only reason this gets two stars and not one is that the online ordering option is great and it arrived 30 minutes earlier than estimated. However, the driver did not speak English and used an unpleasant tone of voice when I told him I did not understand him (over the phone) when he was trying to tell me that he was here and I was trying to direct him (apartment complex). They may not offer delivery but we will definitely be sticking with delicious Main Wah Kitchen instead! read more

You can expect the fastest delivery and some of the nicest service in town. If you phone your order for pickup its always ready in 10 minutes or less and they tend to remember your face after a while which in my opinion has a value all its own. The restaurant is not located in the best location but the place is very clean. The place looks well organized, the employees/owners are always pleasant on the phone and in person.
