This place was so so great, glad i was able to stop by! SERVICE- 5/5 Everyone was very nice and if something was missing they would quickly bring it. AMBIANCE- 5/5 This place isn't too big but there are 20 or so tables, everything was clean and there even some outside seating. Loved all the decor. FOOD- 4/5 Banana foster- 5/5 Very sweet but it was great, i was hesitant on the raisins in the dish but it went so well Grits- 4/5 Super yummy and filling Fried green tomatoes- 4/5 Wish it came with a sauce Biscuits- 4/5 these were amazing but just a TINY bit dry OVERALL- If i'm in the area, I would come back! read more

Ruby Slipper Cafe is great if you want some good food and brunch vibes. I cannot complain about some delicious fried green tomatoes and egg Benedict's! I am never and still not crazy about tomatoes in general, but I love fried green tomatoes. They fry these tomatoes to a nice crisp, but it's not overpowering where all you taste is just a fried breading. The sauce they put on top is perfect to mix with the fried outer layer with the tomatoes. A perfect way to eat some veggies. There was no better way to try all their eggs Benedict than ordering the Trifecta. It comes with an Egg Cochon, Chicken St. Charles, and the Bayou Shrimp. I can't pick a favorite but my top two was the Chicken St. Charles and the Bayou Shrimp. The chicken was cooked very well and it was soft and juicy. It was a good mix with the egg and hollandaise sauce. The Bayou Shrimp came with a fried green tomato which was an icing on top. The Egg Cochon was my least favorite out of the three as I felt the braised pulled pork wasn't the best. Ruby Slipper Cafe was very delicious and a great brunch spot to eat some good food and possibly watch a football game. I couldn't get enough of their fried green tomatoes! read more

I mean do I need to say anymore? Do the pictures not speak for themselves? The city of New Orleans has so much to offer for every meal type : Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert. You really can't go wrong finding a breakfast spot in the city it's more so about your preference. Ruby slipper is one of my favorites hands down. From the service to the ambiance in the restaurant to all of the food, it's just one of the spots to be at for breakfast. This was one of the best batches of biscuits and gravy that's I've ever had and that goes for anywhere. The whole plate was gone . The portion size is Perfect. The biscuit was nice and airy as well as buttery. The bacon crispy but not burnt. The eggs beautifully cheesy and seasoned. My sister got the fried chicken with French toast bites and that was just delicious all the way around. From the crispy / juicy salty chicken to the sweet crunchy yet soft French toast bites . Had some great food during our visit here. The staff was fast and very kind. A bit out of the way, but so worth it. Only issue was that they forgot the seasonal beignets my table ordered. Unfortunately we were running late and didn't have time to wait for them afterwards. Still wish I got to try them! I definitely recommend trying the Sweet Heat Chicken and French Toast bites! I recommend checking in prior to getting there otherwise you might be in for a long wait. While you wait to be seated definitely check out the nearby book store or clothing store! read more

When in NOLA, our go-to for brunch, lunch or almost anytime is ALWAYS The Ruby Slipper! From chatting with our bartender there are now 7 locations, but we haven't found a single one that dissapoints. The spicy bloody mary with bacon is da bomb, although I didn't have it this trip. A simple order of grits with added jalapeno and cheddar with a side of bacon was all I needed this time. This is a solid place to eat. The only thing I'd recommend is not to grab a bite here when it's busy and to take the outdoor seating. Its beautiful on a sunny day, but we slightly had a timing issue with ordering and getting served which was a bit upsetting. The food was great though, came out warm and delicious. I have been to New Orleans countless times over the past decade, but somehow I've managed to miss this gem every trip! Ruby Slipper has hands down one of the best breakfast/brunch spots I've ever been to, and the price was extremely affordable considering the portion sizes and how good the food tasted. The restaurant isn't that big, which meant there was a waiting list. Luckily, I was solo and was able to get a spot at the bar relatively quick. Besides inside dining and bar seating, they also have outdoor dining available as well. The staff was great! Everyone from the Greeter, to the bartenders and servers, were pleasant and helpful. If you go, You HAVE to try the French Toast Bites - it'll be the best decision you'll make while in the French Quarter! I am also a fan of their Southern Breakfast - two eggs any style, grits, Applewood-smoked bacon, and fried green tomatoes with a buttermilk biscuit for just $12.75. You can't go wrong with visiting Ruby Slipper if you're looking for a great tasting meal to keep you leveled while exploring the French Quarter. read more

Tasty late breakfast / early lunch. Got on a call ahead list, 45 minute wait, so walked around. Seated right at 45 minutes. All food items were served hot and were tasty -- french toast bites, beignet bites (although they were called something else), shrimp and grits, salmon omelet, and more. So i must say when i attended this place it was in the middle of the summer hooooot so I'll give a little grace. First things first we were sat down at a table close to the bar ( me my wife and 3 kids), but we were there almost 20 minutes before anyone decided to take our order . I guess it was the confused look on our face that got one of the bar tenders attention but apparently we were "forgot about" after being seated....... Regardless we stayed and decided to order,I ordered the shrimp and grits with an espresso martini kind of drink , again....it was super hot but nonetheless when my drink arrived i noticed it had a gnat in it... now I'll give a place a chance and understood the conditions and location but at the same time the standard must be enforced. I let the bartender know and he gave an excuse but did replace the drink and even gave a complementary drink so that was a plus. The environment was small , packed , and flies everywhere so needless to say i probably won't make a second trip when I'm back in Nola . The food was OK looked a lot better than i tasted but wasn't bad , overall experience I'd give a 5/10 probably won't come back again ! read more

We came here for breakfast/lunch and were pleasantly surprised! At first, I was a little skeptical because the place seemed a bit plain, but once I tried the Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit--wow! A must-try. My boyfriend got the Spanish omelet and couldn't stop raving about it. The presentation might not be their strongest suit, but honestly, who cares when the food tastes this good? This was a busy place today, but it was worth the wait! They had table & bar top seating. The hostess ladies were super nice, but our male server was a bit nonexistent. The food was great!!! The French dip bites were plentiful & the praline sauce to dip them in was divine. We also got the biscuits & gravy with a side of fried chicken - the chicken was moist & had great flavor, & the biscuits & gravy were delicious, but a little on the cold side. While visiting the Big Easy during Mardi Gras, I was in the mood for brunch. After visiting the Ruby Slipper a couple of times, knew it was time to go back. The Decatur location was closest to me & glad I went. There was a line & I was greeted at the host stand by Stanley. Stanley gladly took my name but I asked if there happen to be a spot at the bar for just one. He turned around & told me to wait a couple of minutes as he cleared me a spot. Sat me down quick with a smile. Was immediately acknowledged by one of the bartenders saying they would be right with me. Kelli & Jaylynn were working that day. Started my day with an Irish coffee & it truly hit the spot. It did take a moment for me to decide, but didn't feel rushed. Yes, Kelli & Jaylynn checked on me, but only to see if I was ready & encouraged me to take my time. After a couple of moment, I chose the southern breakfast. It was the fried green tomato that sold me. Yes, it was simple, but extremely satisfying. And, that fried green tomato, was better than expected. The service at The Ruby Slipper was outstanding. Our waiter, a terrific young gentleman, was attentive, professional, and stayed on his toes to make sure we had everything we needed. The decor was true to the restaurant's name--fun, vibrant, and welcoming. Other patrons were also very friendly, adding to the warm atmosphere. As for the food, I really enjoyed the Chicken Benedict--it was flavorful and satisfying. However, the Shrimp Benedict was a bit of a letdown, as it only came with three small shrimp, which felt underwhelming. My friend ordered the Salmon Omelette with grits and a biscuit, and they said it was absolutely delicious. Here's how we rated the dishes: Chicken Biscuit: 9/10 Shrimp Biscuit: 6/10 Salmon Omelette Plate: 9/10 Overall, while the service and ambiance were great, the menu didn't quite match my personal preferences--mainly because I don't eat pork, and I found the non-pork options somewhat limited. I recently dined at Ruby Slipper and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience. Although the food preparation took a while, the wait was well worth it as the food was absolutely delicious. From the appetizers to the entrees, every dish was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. I would highly recommend the food here. While the drinks were average, they were advertised as award-winning and amazing, which was a bit disappointing. However, this was a minor setback in an otherwise great dining experience. I was impressed with how easy it was to make a reservation and while the waitlist said it would be an hour, I only had to wait 30 minutes before being seated. The staff was nice and attentive, making sure my dining experience was enjoyable. The ambiance of the restaurant was also great - it had a comfortable and inviting atmosphere that was perfect for a relaxing meal. Overall, I would definitely go back to Ruby Slipper and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience in the area. Five stars! read more
