I am a retired V.A. Nurse and OTR, over the road Truck Driver & Owner/ Operator…read more My appt. was at 2pm, after the check in I was taken to a room to start the exam by a Tech. She was professional and curious. At about 3:30pm they dilated my eyes, it took about 20 minutes for the drops to take effect. Then Dr. Moffett came in telling me that the tests that were done showed I was 2100 in one eye & 2700 in the other. He said if the DMV were to test my eyes I'd be given a restrictive license. I came here for Cataract testing because driving at night was impossible anymore. He kept saying the Cataracts didn't look that bad, but did say he has done thousands of Cataract surgeries, some developing eye infections. If these surgeries are done with sterilized equipment using a sterile field and him wearing Sterile gloves the chances of an Infection are greatly reduced. I became suspicious of his ability to take care of me properly. At 4:20pm I was given a flimsy piece of black plastic to put between my glasses and face to cut down the glare, it did not fit well as it had "rounded" edges and my glasses are rectangular shaped, I asked for something better. Techs saying you can drive home using these. I went to the restroom to check my pupils they were completely dilated making my vision blurry! I stated I have over 30 miles to drive home! They did not care, just kept saying you'll be fine to drive home. I refused to leave without getting a better fitting Glare Blocker. So, finally another woman found a pair that would sit on my ears. I left to sit in my car so my vision could adjust to the outside brightness. Thinking maybe I should call the Police, because this is a crime in the making as no where in the paperwork that they sent me prior to the appointment did it say I should have someone drive me there. I said a prayer asking GOD to get me home safely and started my car. My car is new to me only having it a week, I knew and could see the whole numbers were about 1/2 inch high like 50, 60 mph but the 55 or 65 mph were only a short slanted line which I could not see at all. So, with GOD as my copilot I backed up my car and as I turned right out of their driveway I drew on the 15 yrs. of experience driving semi and followed the White line on the Right side of the road. I also choose to take Hwy. 29 home as it is a 4 lane road, I could legally do 45mph in the right lane. As soon as I was on Hwy. 29 I was able to do 50mph but I also knew that someone else might call in a 911 call on me because from Chippewa Falls to Cadot the speed limit is 70mph and I was only doing 50mph in the Right lane. I did get home safely! My vision returned to Normal at 10:30PM, 7 Hours after having those drops! If you are considering to see this clinic in the future ask them when YOU make the appointment if they are going to dilated your eyes, if so bring someone with you so they can drive you home!

The doctor I was seeing was fairly new and we spent 3 weeks (experimenting) with different contact combinations until they got it right. I've never experienced that anywhere else and had never experienced here prior to that. They also used to send out reminders for appointments but don't do that anymore. Now they seem to not care so I'm not going to give them my business.

Since 2020 however, I have seen a rapid decline in care at the emergency department. Since starting college, I've had to make trips to the ER on roughly 5 situations, mostly heart related, and most recently for a concussion. The last 3 times I've gone in have had terribly similar end results; showing up with emergent symptoms, waiting upwards of half an hour to be triaged, and a minimum of 2 hours before seeing a doctor. Today, I was waiting for 3 hours to be seen, brought back and was set in the hallway, and sat there an hour before Dr. Aaron Triplett came to tell me that they would not be running any tests, didn't even check me out to see what had happened that caused the concussion. This is following a previous visit to urgent care in which I was initially diagnosed with the concussion, and was told if symptoms continued to get worse to go to the ER immediately for a CT and MRI. After a few days, symptoms continued getting worse, my vision fading from blurry to shaky, pain level increasing exponentially throughout each day, and having more symptoms pop up before going to the ER today. After 3 hours of waiting, I was more than just let down that the people who's job it is to take care in being thorough, will be willing to cut corners and outright deny looking into why my walking has now gotten to be borderline scary, feeling like I'm going to fall every step. But they'd rather have one less patient to deal with, so they sent me home with nothing more than a lighter wallet. Would not recommend the Emergency Department at Mayo Clinic Eau Claire

I will never go back. recently my husband who is fighting cancer was having issues with his eyes are regular eye doctor sent him there to have them take a look. his appointment time was 215 they took him back to the exam room on time but about 330 he texted me that he thought they forgot about him when the doctor finally came in at 345 stated he been doing this work for over 40 years, apparently he has forgotten about proper patient care and respecting his patients. after 5 minutes he stated his issue was not surgical so there wasn't anything he could for him. thanks for wasting two hours of our time. when I went in to ask about him they stated his wife came in and raised hell and they laughed really professional. staff and doctors are rude, arrogant and condescending they need to get over themselves and maybe consider a career change. If you value your time go do a different clinic. To be fair this is referring only to the clinic in Chippewa Falls We have never been to the one in Eau Claire
