Rudy's is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood. It's a homey place that looks almost like a fraternity house, with a big patio, Nirvana playing in the background (literally, All Apologies was playing from a speaker somewhere when I rolled up), and this chaotic energy that I can't place. I think some of that energy starts with the sign on the door that says that you need to be prepared to show that you're 21+ in order to enter. I entered, and no one asked me whether I was over 21. Alrighty then! I visited because I wanted a bottle of wine to take back to my hotel. I read that Rudy's has wine, and they do, but it's a small wall of wine with maybe a dozen different bottles. Two of the bottles are from Oliver Winery (too sweet for me, I already know), and maybe four other bottles also looked light and sweet. I ended up finding a decent-looking Pinot Noir that was a little more than I wanted to pay initially, but once I opened it, I could see where the extra couple of bucks went. It was a good bottle of red. But, if you're looking for a variety of wines, this is not the place to visit. And if you're looking for beers, the same applies. They do have some beers in a refrigerator, but they're sparse. Mostly, though, Rudy's is a cigar bar, and everything about it screams cigars once you step inside. I know very little about cigars beyond what my dad has imparted upon me; he has taken up smokin' stogies in the past couple of years. I think he would love this place, and if you're a cigar smoker, I think you might love it, too. It's just not my vibe, but I'm glad it exists for those who it vibes with. read more

My nomadic spirit takes me to some cool places. I found myself at Rudy's Cigar Shop in Fort Wayne, Indiana, by recommendation of my pal. Though it's called a shop, it seemed to me to be anything but. It's a cigar house, yep, a literal house with a porch, a front yard with seating and a view of a baseball field, a member lounge complete with a full kitchen, amazing back yard seating areas culminated with an incredible two-story deck. They carry a pretty great selection of cigars and accessories, local wines and chocolates, drinks, snacks, and Rudy's merch. I'd travel back to Fort Wayne just to hang out there. The owner is originally from Michigan. The staffer who graciously served as my guide shared with me that the shop folk take a cigar train trip twice a year. Rudy's is a great place to go and relax. The facility is tucked in an old neighborhood right across from the ball field. The business has retained the uniqueness of the old house while adding a significant amount of outdoor seating in which to relax. In the summer the fire pit and lounge chairs are comfortable. During cold months you may sit under a portable heater to enjoy the outside or inside a sheltered area that is toasty warm. Rudy's has a very good selection of nicely priced cigars. There is something for every taste and price range. They have a wide selection of Indiana craft beers and local wines. Not much food here outside of DeBrand chocolates. Cone on in and relax. Gorgeous little place. Amazing selection of beers and semi friendly staff. Curious to why only half the staff wore masks, kind of defeats the purpose. Especially when there is a sign stating please wear masks before entering. As a manager and owner of a place, employees can truly contribute and help grow the place. This was my Goldie-Locks pick of the night. After completing my commitments for the evening, I headed to Corner Pocket. It's a huge place for a pool hall. At least three rooms with tables. There were a lot of people there but I was a bit over-dressed. So, I kept moving. My next stop was Club Soda. It's a nice spot with a little swank to it. I stopped because I heard they offered jazz and scotch. The Laphroaig was perfect. I must have missed jazz night, though. So, I kept moving. The last stop on this Fort-Wayne excursion was Rudy's. While I mostly smoke black cavendish in a pipe, I do like the occasional Leaf Madura. The two working that night new exactly where to find that stick in the walk-in humidor. They offered me a choice of cuts and directed me to the flame-throwing patio. I smoked the ash down to the label in blissful splendor. My only complaint is that they closed too soon. read more

Rudy's is a cozy cigar shop/beer and wine garden right next to Parkview Field! It is nestled between some residential homes and is definitely the nicest place on the block... but don't let that steer you away! Inside everyone is super nice, friendly, and can answer any questions you may have. They have a great beer and wine selection to enjoy with cigars and friends. They recently renovated their outdoor space and it is AMAZING. A cute hangout with your bae or with a group of friends. They have live music on the weekends (at least every time I have been there). There is also a cigar club and exclusive to members only. Give this place a try before or after a game, or make it your next date night! I recently stopped into Rudy's for the first time and LOVED it. It was a Sunday afternoon and after riding my bike around downtown I was looking for a place to get a cold beer, and this was it. The cigar shop is located in an older home right next to Parkview Field. They offer beer, wine, and of course cigars (if that is your thing). They also have a fantastic outdoor area with a deck to enjoy the weather. The guy working was very friendly and gave good suggestions. They had recently had a beer tap event so I was able to try some local beer on draft. I also splurged and tried the wine slushy. They mixed two different local wines, red and white, and it was so yummy! I will definitely be coming back to Rudy's! read more

This place is a hidden gem in the fort. It is conveniently located near downtown by Parkview Field. This place has not only beer, wine and cigars, but also DeBrand Chocolates! There are a few places you can sit while visiting, however if you're smoking, then you have the option of sitting outside in the front or the back where there are heated tables and heat lamps. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable on their cigar inventory which is pretty extensive. Parking is somewhat limited since it's street parking but we've never had any issues. They have an array of beer and wine to choose from- they even have wine slushies! Highly recommended! read more

This was one of my favorite spots in downtown Fort Wayne. I had not been back since I moved and when I came in on Saturday I saw how much the had expanded! There's a deck that will be perfect for a nice chill summer night and plenty of tables to accommodate a lot of customers. WE LOVED THIS PLACE! Rudy's has such a unique vibe, it's SO cool! As we were here for work, exploring the downtown Ft. Wayne area, we stumbled upon this place that claimed to be a bar...but just looked like any house in the middle of a cooler, older, neighborhood...say what!? We did a quick google, realized it wasn't a fraud, then wandered in to see what Rudy's was all about! We were greeted by a very friendly bartender, who explained how it all worked, from the cigar area (a GIANT selection, if you're into that) to the vast variety of local beers and wine. We got our beers (cans that they poured into a glass if you'd like) and then walked outside. The outdoor area was also quite unique, from the fire pits, to the covered areas, to the cool upstairs patio. Rudy's definitely has a "dive-y" vibe, but it's also so one-of-a-kind, that I think even those who don't like dive bars, would enjoy! read more

Went for a wine slushie after work with co-workers. We each ordered a mix of the red wine layered with mango wine. The hostess was pleasant, friendly. There are snacks ( small bags of pretzels, Doritos, chocolates ). Little cheese and cracker plates would be nice. The outside area was nicely landscaped. Plenty of tables and chairs. It was raining so we could either sit in the shed or under a tent. We chose the shed. There were heaters and fans, speakers, garden lighting. It was tasteful. I've been to downtown Ft Wayne a dozen times, but somehow I'd never found Rudy's until today. This will become my destination every trip from now on. Good selection of cigars, good local beer on tap and in bottles, and great hospitality. It's nice to travel somewhere and find a business that allows cigar smoking... First time here. Rudy's is clever. Fort Wayne smoking ban doesnt slow them down. Private club upstairs for members. Non-members can smoke in the heated hut out back or under the tent complete with patio heaters and fire pit. American ingenuity at its best. Not from the area, but I love going to TinCaps games, and make at least once a year. Casually noticed Rudy's while waiting for the gates to open. Looked interesting and was not disappointed. What an amazing idea and place. Great selection, friendly service, beautiful scenery. Would not be surprised if more of these places pop up right on the same street.
