We've now purchased two vehicles from Crown Toyota (a Sienna in 2025, and a Rav 4 in 2020), and I…read morehave to say that overall I'm pleased with the process of buying a car from this dealership. In 2020 we stopped in on our way to Manhattan with the hopes of purchasing a Rav 4 and walked out with what we were looking for. It of course took a while, but overall it was a smooth process and we didn't feel overly pressured. Now, this year, we had our older car totalled after being rear ended in the fall and after a lengthy insurance claim finally were ready to buy a new car this winter. With two kids in tow now a mini van seemed like the right fit and we settled on the Sienna. Only problem? There seems to be a Sienna shortage all over town. I called every single Toyota dealership in the KC metro, got on the waiting list for one of them, and the others either never responded to me, lied to me about their inventory to get me to purchase something I didn't want, or nearly laughed at me for even asking if they had any in stock. I was honestly pretty taken aback by how unprofessional and disinterested in my business the other dealerships were. Now, enter Crown Toyota who when I filled out an online form, a salesperson called me, and respectfully talked me through the shortage of Siennas, the wait, realistically what I was in for in terms of timeline, and was kind, courteous, and friendly throughout the whole process. Honestly, it's a small thing, but having Charlie call me and follow up with me made me feel like they wanted my business and actually cared about if I ended up with a vehicle that was excited about driving. After that phone call I stayed on the waiting list with another dealership just in case, but I was already pretty sold on working with Crown. After that he was in touch with their next shipment and what was available, we chatted about the one that was most attractive to us, reserved it over the phone, and then came in to finalize things when it arrived. I won't say it was a perfect experience, as there were a few hiccups when we went to pick it up in terms of the young man working that couldn't help us and seemed confused, and the complicated nature of having to have my husband sign electronically since he couldn't come with me, BUT it's still a five star experience because everyone that we worked with here was so nice, so supportive, and great at talking me through all the options. Charlie even followed up a week later to make sure I didn't have any questions and followed up a few more times to make sure the titled arrived, and that we were satisfied. I'm only in my thirties but maybe I'm more old school than I think when I say that I really value this level of customer service when making such a big purchase, and despite Lawrence being a bit further away I'm inclined to always reach out to Crown Toyota when I'm in the market for a new car.

I was then asked to drive the car to Lawrence from North Kansas City I stated I didn't feel comfortable driving it with the issues it was having but did so anyway got there and was told " I'm not a mechanic but I don't feel anything " well what was the purpose of driving it here if you're not a mechanic but anyway took it to the shop they suggestion or the shop they use several times only for them to tell me the issue is fixed and it WASN'T!!!!! I started to ask around and found a place that fixed the issue but then there was another one after making many calls and not having my car that I'm continuing to make payments on it finally got fixed but BOOM wouldn't you know it there's MORE ISSUES after calling and sending text messages over months I finally hear back and I'm told that someone would get with me and let me know when my jeep could be serviced well guess what NEVER heard anything so again I take it to the same shop we used before and wouldn't you know it the warranty doesn't cover it what a surprise!!!! So now I'm currently trying to figure out what I'm going to do because I don't have $3000 to pay on top of the car payments they want every month.

Highly recommend Dale Willey over any of the others! Not only was the experience smooth and felt easy, but after trading my car in, I realized that I had left a very sentimental cd in my old car - my grandparents playing their guitars and playing gospel songs they had song for over 50 years. This was their last home recording when they were in their 70s. It had been in my car 5+ years. Well, it dawned on me 2 weeks later that I didn't remove the cd. My husband contacted Jeremy and as I arrived at dealership, they were already working on tracking it down. They found it and were genuinely happy to do it and concerned about it. Our recent college graduate will be getting a car by the fall, we happily will be going to Dale Willey!

It was in great condition - the interior was excellent, included Shelving i planned to repurpose, flooring was great, bulkhead was intact... Basically it was perfect for my needs. We got there late in the day, and weren't able to finish the paperwork until Monday. They said they'd deliver it Monday and we could finish the paperwork then. Monday, around 5pm, the salesman shows up with the van. Here's where things went to shit. He apologized, said he showed me the wrong one (it was the one I looked at online, evidenced by the Shelving in the back) but he didn't realize it until he was ready to bring it to me. So he brought me one I DIDN'T SEE, DIDN'T TEST DRIVE, said the price difference was too much to let me have the one I looked at. The one he brought me has a bit of body damage, flooring l have to replace, unusable interior in the cargo area, no bulkhead, cosmetic damage in the cab, bumper and running board damage, and twice the mileage. Having never found myself in this situation, I agreed to take the one he brought me. He assured me I got a great deal - it came with four (4) $400 each key fobs!! (I've since found out they're about $40 each), and gave me some dealership special worth $500 for free!! Bait and Switch much? If I had known then what I know now, I would have canceled the entire deal. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DEALING WITH THEM.

At the end of her winter break, we noticed oil leaking, so to make it easier on all of us, we suggested she go to the Lawrence location, as she is going to school at KU. She took her car to the service department and was given a long list of things which needed to be repaired, some of which were oil gasket covers and spark plugs. She called my husband to call in to the service department to discuss which items would need to be fixed, none of which were shown to her or explained, but since we were out of town, we proceeded with a couple of repairs. That bill was approximately $1,000. A week after she had her car repaired, she came home, and we noticed there was still oil leaking, so we made another appointment for March 31st at 8:30 am. I drove the car from Kansas City to Lawrence and met with the service department rep. My daughter picked me up in another vehicle, and I left the facility. At approximately 12:30, I went back to check on the status of the car, and no one had taken a look at it, despite my appointment being at 8:30, and they knew I was staying in town to see what was wrong with it. I left again at that point, and about 20 minutes later, I received a call from the service department asking me to come back, so I left what I was doing to go back. At that point, he gave me a list of repairs that needed to be done totaling $3,300+, and one of them being the replacement of the oil pan, as it was cracked. I asked him questions about this and asked if this could have been what was wrong in the first place. He said he had no idea. Then I looked back at the documentation from the first time my daughter brought in the car, and it stated, "Customer says Oil Gaskets are Leaking." I can assure you no one in my family would have said that or known that would even be an issue. So I paid another bill of $190 to have someone "diagnose" the car, and I left without paying for any of the suggested repairs, as I feel as though I had been lied to and was not pleased with having to wait five hours past my appointment to have someone look at my car for the first time. I brought the car back to Kansas City and took it to our local mechanic. He did replace the oil pan, and I would bet that was why it was leaking in the first place. There is no documentation that anything was wrong with the gasket covers. No video or pictures, to my knowledge. He also informed me, when I asked about the other items on the list of suggested repairs, that we were being scammed.

We recently purchased a 2021 Ford Explorer Limited from Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence and a 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 from a competing dealer in the area and this experience wasn't even close to the latter. The salesman was great during the sale and we negotiated on a list of 'we owe you' where Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence was going to complete repairs on sensors and a cracked windshield as part of the deal. We thought great - we can just bring it back in and it would maybe be a week at max but that didn't happen. We were told the repairs should only take a couple of days when it was dropped off. However, we went back and forth with the dealership over repairs and found out it was sent to the Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence dealership for repairs to the sensors without notifying us. This was also a surprise to the service manager at the Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence dealership that Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence was unable to fix the issues and no communication had been established from Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence to their department. Other issues we faced were in obtaining the title and registering in a timely manner. It took us a month to hunt down the title and finally the Laird Noller Ford of Topeka dealership was able to obtain it and get it to us. We received notices from the State of Kansas that we failed to register in 60 days and our bank threatened defaulting our loan because it was impossible for us to get the vehicle inspected and tagged while it was at the dealership. After two months we finally got our vehicle back but its bittersweet because there was no apology from the dealership for the delays or how they handled the repairs. Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence also left the vehicle completely filthy with bird feces down the side of it. (see pictures) I'm a firm believer in leaving something better than you found it. Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence certainly returned our vehicle worst off than how they received it and the small attention to details on how they returned a car, to a paying customer, says a lot about how they conduct their customer service and relationship with customers long term. If Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence is a representation of Laird Noller as a dealership I would highly recommend folks to look for a different dealership to do business to save yourself a lot of the headaches we experienced. Helping or showing any compassion to the customer is long gone once you sign on the dotted line. Customer service should be paramount and constant communication with the customer should be at the top of every service manager's list. I would say from our experience the optics are Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence and Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence are only interested in the sale and not building upon a long lasting customer relationship. This whole experience will certainly cause us to pause from buying another vehicle from Laird Noller in the future and to shop around for a dealership that puts the customer first.
