A truly dark time that revisits when you've gone through a horrible divorce and it continues as times as your children get older? Last night, I that dark time return in a Notice of Hearing filing which was received down to the wire from the court date. The filing looked "wrong" yet you must respond for court as they don't accept excuses. In the dark night, I email out to Daniel what to do?!!! First thing in the early morning, what do I see?!! An email response from Daniel. And in his normal, calm manner he tells me what I can do - step-by-step. I can do this now because Daniel is there for me and with me. Divorce is hard enough as it is but I've been on this road for a way long time due to kids being involved. When it's a bad divorce, it carries through because you share kids. I frequently had to call, text, and email repeatedly to get any status at all. No discovery was ever conducted on the opposing party's finances, despite that being central to the case and despite my raising it. I ended up having to pursue that myself later. The worst moment came on the day of a child support hearing. I called his office roughly five minutes before it was scheduled to begin, and he told me himself that he could not appear and that I should get another attorney for my child support case. I had to go into court alone to request a continuance, with no notice and no preparation. When I terminated the representation, I requested a full refund of unearned fees and an itemized accounting. He declined to provide a full refund or itemized accounting. I have texts and emails documenting all of this. I lost thousands of dollars and, worse, a year of progress on a case where timing mattered. I had to chase for updates through emails, phone calls, and even in-person visits, yet often got no response. It felt like I was completely left in the dark about my own case. Billing was even more frustrating. I received no regular invoices, only a large bill covering months of work with no way to track or control costs. When I tried to raise reasonable concerns, they were dismissed with no willingness to work toward a fair resolution. I eventually had to switch attorneys, and the difference has been night and day -- clear communication, transparency, and professionalism. Looking back, the reviews here did not reflect my experience at all. I wish I had known that earlier.
