Located across the street from the original Patriot Masonic structure that is now home to Odile's Fine Art, in Harwich Center, #Ruggies offers lots of items from which to choose, whether it's breakfast, lunch, sides &/or beverages. I chose a 'Build Your Own Three Egg Omelette', with grated Cheddar, broccoli & sauteed onions, one piece each of Cinnamon Raisin & Light Rye toast. The egg mixture was a bit thin; more milk than egg ratio, but the omelette ingredients, fresh! Ask for dry toast, if you don't want/like margarine, & ask Tiffany to fetch real butter, instead. I asked for a bit of the 'not-so-secret' spice blend used for other dishes, & was pleasantly surprised... not too spicy, just right, even w/tumeric ! Only a few people seated when I walked in, but within 10 minutes of sitting, all the tables were filled with locals... only a few bar stools remained open. Casual, homey, non-invasive interior, decorated in red tones... Burnt Sienna mixed with Red, Cran-Red curtains, fits well in w/the land of Cranberry bogs. Chris, "today's chef", manned the grill. We had come here for breakfast back in 2019 and were so excited to see it had survived COVID. The waitress was friendly, kind and helpful. The restaurant is inside the first floor of what was probably a two family home at one point. Very diner like interior. We order pancakes with a breakfast combo. Pancakes were great with a hint of cinnamon in them, poached eggs were fluffy and good. I had hoped to have baked beans instead of home fries but they don't serve baked beans. The home fries were ok but appeared cooked in a deep fryer (not my thing). We also ordered ham and instead of a ham steak we got two thin sliced rectangular deli ham pieces cut into 4 (very salty) that were disappointing. My new favorite breakfast spot on this side of the Cape. Quality food, great prices, and a bit of charm. My favorites were the chicken and biscuit and the apple crisp on top of French toast. The chicken was juicy and the biscuit was a nice crumbly texture perfect for dipping in the peppery gravy. All for $10! The apple crisp French toast was decadent but not overly sweet. The blueberry pancakes and breakfast potatoes were solid as well. The iced coffee was on the weaker side though. Wait was 20 min at lunch time for a table of 3. It is a bit tight inside though so not a great option for larger groups. Atmosphere was laid back and cozy. read more

We stopped in here last weekend for lunch. It doesn't look like anything special on the outside (my mom was surprised we were going inside, and would have kept walking). However, on the inside, it has a cute kitschy diner feel to it. We picked a table, and were brought menus fairly quickly. I love that they serve breakfast all day, and that there are plenty of lunch options to choose from as well. We all decided to go with lunch - I had the chicken cordon 'blue' melt - grilled chicken, ham, swiss cheese, and a generous portion of homemade blue cheese sauce, on grilled white bread. It was perfectly portioned, and absolutely delicious. The cape cod chips are always a win. My husband had the pride of Harwich, a grilled pastrami sandwich, with spicy mustard on rye, which he really enjoyed. My mom had the turkey club wrap, which was very generously sized (although she had zero issue finishing it), and noted how delicious it was. The trifecta: bad coffee, bad food, bad service. Don't be fooled by the low prices and cute townie diner vibe. The waiter was surly (how about starting the day with a pleasant smile and eye contact?) and we could barely understand what he was saying, coffee was weak and watery, and the bacon burned. We spent $60 for breakfast for four, including two adults, two kids. My issues were well beyond price, but I would have gladly paid slightly more at a quality restaurant. Tried this place once again. The staff spit in my food and tried to gaslight me into believing they didn't. Stopped for breakfast last Sunday and we were happy we did. Excellent food and lots of selections. The price is right for families. I had the corned beef hash over three eggs with a side of french fries and sausage all perfect prepared. They do not try to gouge with Cape overpricing. The restaurant was named after Rocco's grandfather who was nicknamed 'Ruggie'. The eatery offers a wide selection of breakfast dishes including egg dishes, omelettes, waffles, pancakes, french toast, and breakfast sandwiches. They also offer a wide selection of various sandwiches for lunch. Ruggie's is also known for their legendary eating challenge, which includes six eggs, a pound of hash browns and cheese, pancakes, bacon, sausage, fried chicken and waffles. My wife and I have visited Ruggie's a number of times over the years. It's a great Cape Cod breakfast spot! Our most recent visit was last week. It was the first day of our week-long Cape Cod family vacation. We left our house super early to beat the tourist traffic. We arrived in Harwich not long after 9:00 AM and stopped at Ruggie's to get breakfast to go. My wife and I each ordered the Breakfast Nachos (seasoned home fries, tomato, bacon, melted cheddar and pepper jack cheese, jalapeños and sour cream) and we ordered some blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon for our son. We took our food to a nearby beach and had a delicious picnic breakfast. We were all very happy with our food choices. Oh my word. Oh my goodness. I just LOVE this place. Been coming since about a year ago when the power got knocked out in a bad storm and we needed a place to get some eats. We were lucky enough to get here right as lunch began and had the most incredible chili. It was perfect on a freezing day. But the breakfast is always great. My fave of all time is the chicken and waffle. Out of CONTROL good and huge portion. The chicken dwarves the waffle with its slightly spicy goodness that legit warms the soul. Full till dinner type of meal and absolutely delicious - hard to leave any on the plate. They make everything from scratch including the wonderful gravy with buiscits. Omlettets, benedicts and sandwiches are all perfect. Not the best for large groups more than 5 as it is a bit of a hole in the wall but it is comfortable and clean . If you find yourself in Harwich early in the day, definitely make a trip here. read more

But we won't be back to try those because they served us the most watered-down coffee we have had the displeasure of tasting (and not finishing). What can I say I'm a big fan of chicken and waffles and this place gives you a big ole piece of chicken on top of a waffle. The chicken is bursting with flavor juices mouth watering the waffle could use some work little dry but nothing syrup can't take care of. The best breakfast all week. The bacon was perfect and the eggs tasted like they were gathered that day. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crispy outside but tender inside. Even the raisin toast tasted special. My husband's omelet was perfectly cooked . Even my son ate his French toast- the first breakfast he ate in a week. Kara was our server and she was helpful, knew her menu and asked the right questions . I can't say enough nice things ! This place is not what it used to be. Probably won't be coming back here again. Consistency in service and food is hard and it just wasn't there. Water wasn't offered and was dearly missed. Server didn't come around to check on us so we didn't even get to ask for it. The good: coffee service was quick as soon as we sat down. The food didn't take long. The eggs and toast were good. Prices weren't insane. The breakfast sausage was yummy! The could-be-better: -the waffle was a little sour; as if they made their own buttermilk and used too much vinegar. The table syrup was somehow not sweet enough and definitely not maple syrup. There was a gross spoon set on our table, and the server never came to check on us. -Server mumbled and was understandably grumpy before 8am. We would have ordered waters and mentioned the gross spoon (think if someone has coated it in yogurt, left it to dry, then ran it through a light sanitize cycle, it was coated in weird crust.) -the meal was so salty. Stopped in for a late breakfast based on a recommendation from a relative. Small place with parking both on and off the street. Tables are close together except for two that are located at the front of the restaurant. There is also counter seating with high top chairs. The menu has a good number of breakfast selections from eggs to omelets to French toast. An extensive list of sides are available as well. After 11 lunch is served and given what we saw coming out of the kitchen the portions are good sized. We ordered the Breakfast Combo (egg, bacon, home fries). Ordered an additional egg and rye toast, (extra charge for both items) and the Big Boy (2 eggs, bacon, ham, Ruggie's gravy cheddar cheese, home fries) all served on a bagel. Think eggs Benedict but actually better. Both dishes were great. Eggs were cooked as requested and one order of bacon was requested extra crispy and that's exactly as it was cooked. When we arrived there were 4 or 5 tables occupied. Only one server was present so service was slow but the another server showed up and things moved a little faster which was good as two more tables and the counter became occupied. All in all a good meal, very reasonably priced ($21 including two teas). Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. read more

Stopped in unexpectedly when en route to Harwhichport. I'm the sign on the door said you had to make reservations and I was able to call and get it. The place feels safe and they are taking the necessary precautions. The menu is on the wall at each table. Brilliant!! It's even large is my old eyes can see it. I ordered a special which was a cheeseburger and chips. The cheeseburger was so yummy and juicy! It tasted like it was just off the grill in the backyard. The bone was nice and soft to you and it was smothered in cheese, which I love! And who can complain about a bag of Cape Cod chips! I can't wait to return here. read more

Excellent chow. We came in for breakfast July 1 around 830am. Not a huge place, but we got a spot right in the front overlooking the quaint town of Harwich. I got the Big Boy, cuz that's what I am, a big boy, I'm a little husky. Anywho, its 2 bagels covered by 2 fried eggs, sliced ham, crispy bacon, melted cheese covered all by sausage gravy. Nothing wrong with that. Delicious! When I ordered it the waitress said, "Good choice". It was. The Belgian waffle covered with sliced strawberries and whipped cream was excellent as well.
