AMAZING EXPERIENCE! We started the morning getting picked up in the dinghy and riding out to the sailboat we sailed on for the day. Christina was on the boat waiting and ready to take our drink order! During the sail Christina & John are super knowledgeable and helped us identify all the different islands and some history about them (how they got their name, how to remember the name, which are uninhabited, how much they are selling for, etc.). Our first stop was a beach in St. John. Once we were anchored down, Christina had a tray of snacks ready for us to eat. After snacking, John took us straight to the sea turtles and TONS of fish. We even saw two eagle rays! He definitely knows where the good snorkeling is. We came back for lunch and Christina had a PERFECTLY cooked ahi tuna, coconut rice, and roasted veggies ready for us. Literally the best meal we had our whole vacation... on a boat! After lunch, we set sail again to another location. This location was full of fish! During the trip, Christina takes pictures of you on and off the boat so if you forget your camera, no worries! By the end of the day, I felt like Christina and John were old friends of ours. I would HIGHLY recommend their charter as it felt SO much more personal than booking a huge catamaran with a ton of people. We will definitely be back! read more

Jon and Christina from Rumbaba Charters knocked it out of the park again. This is our 3rd time sailing with them. Just like the first two times, it didn't feel like we were on a charter sail boat. Instead, it felt like we were sailing with friends or family. Captain Jon and crew member/cook/bartender Christina are professional, easy going, and always make sure you have an incredible time. From the sailing, to the delicious food and drinks, to the snorkeling spots, everything is amazing. The Rumbaba Crew are very personable and have a great sense of humor. Their friendly banter is very entertaining. Christina's speciality drinks, from the fully stocked bar keep you refreshed. The hors d'oeuvres, the Ahi, Mahi-mahi, pulled pork, and macaroni salad were all delicious. Rumbaba knows the great snorkeling spots between St Thomas and St John. We were able to snorkel and see a big variety of marine life. We love to stay near Red Hook because of the access to great beaches, grocery stores, and restaurants. Rumbaba sails out of Red Hook, which offers plenty of parking, making it a short walk to the harbor. Every time we go to St Thomas, we will continue to sail with Rumbaba. We visited USVI and did many things during our time on the island but this was by far our favorite experience. Christiana and Jon were incredible guides on the 6 hour boat trip, they were funny, kind and caring hosts who took the time to show us all the sights along our way to our 2 snorkeling spots. At the beginning they asked everyone what they wanted to see and made sure to take us to spots to optimize our experience. Christiana was both an incredible cook with one of the best meals we had on the island and a great bartender always making sure our cups were full with delicious island drinks. The snorkeling was breathtaking, 2 different spots where we were able to swim with the turtles, see eagle Ray's, and see beautiful coral with countless fish. I was a little nervous to go as I am not a strong swimmer and have never been snorkeling before but Jon made sure I was comfortable with the use of a noodle float to assist me. It was all around an amazing experience and I would recommend it to everyone, there was nothing we would have changed and we will remember this experience for a long time. We hope to make it back to the island again one day to do this excursion again. read more

This charter was the most anticipated part of our family vacation and Jon and Christina did not disappoint! They were so kind to us, and great with our two year old son on the trip. So much so, that when he fell asleep, they let him use a pillow and towel/blanket from the cabin below to nap with. Very kid friendly. Adult friendly too though. Christina mixes a mean drink (ask for the key lime pie one) and makes sure your glass doesn't go empty the whole day. The snacks and lunch she prepares are also so delicious. It was so nice to choose our meal beforehand too. We sailed around St Thomas and over to St John and snorkeled off one of the prettiest beaches we saw on the trip (can't remember the name). We saw sea turtles, rays, parrot fish, brain coral, fan coral, and a bunch of other beautiful reef creatures I can't name. They knew just the spot to take us for a great snorkeling experience. Jon let my husband steer the ship for the last part of the trip and back into the harbor- which he was over the moon about. All in all it was a fantastic day. Would 100% recommend them. read more

We rented a private full day charter with Jon and Christina earlier this week. My wife, son and I had a blast. From the start I talked to Jon on the phone and you can tell immediately you will have a great time. Scheduling with Jon by calling or texting him was easy enough. He answered all my questions and we figured out a loose plan for the day. When we got on the boat Christina made our favorite drinks and she is a great bartender with her own specialties. Jon said one of the destinations we might have normally gone had jellyfish that day so we may want to try a different spot. It was a good call and the places they took us had incredible snorkeling. We saw at least 6 turtles, multiple sting rays and 1 spotted eagle ray. Also many species of bright and colorful fish. Food and snacks were great also plus great conversation all day. They are a private company and this is their only boat. They really want you to have a great time and you can tell. Highly recommend. read more

If you want to get on a Catamaran with 40 other people and be herded through scuba destinations like ocean cattle... this tour is not for you. Small sail boat and the quarters a little tight but adequate... small groups... only 2 other people on our tour but they said they can accommodate up to 12... . and the guides / owners were fantastic. John and Kristina had lots of info and were very knowledgable about the area and waters and the scuba destinations were fantastic... puffer fish, squid, stingrays... really great... And the food was amazing as well... actually some of the best food we have had and we were at Mirador at Point Pleasant Resort last night... Highly recommend... a small operation but they do everything very well and you really feel like they take pride in the services they provide... A++++ read more

Our day out on the boat felt much less like a touristy boat tour and more like a good friend taking you out on his boat for the day, and I mean that in the best possible way. Jon and his assistant Trevor (I believe it was his first day) were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We sailed to an area with some of the most beautiful water I've ever seen. Relaxed, snorkled, and ate delicious food provided by Jon and Trevor. The drinks they provided were also very refreshing. They even let me briefly drive the boat! Though the trip was techincally supposed to end at 3PM they were in no rush and happy to extend the trip a bit until everyone felt ready to head back. Overall it was exactly what we wanted, a great relaxing day out on a boat. Would strongly recommend. read more

Captain Jon and Admiral Christina made this a vacation day that we will never forget. Not only was the food excellent, but the sights, sea and stories were the best! Our snorkeling experience was "totally awesome" according to one young female member of our group. While in the water we saw turtles, rays and even a puffer fish! Christina seemed to know where they all lived. Jon also demonstrated some interesting and splashy dives for us. As part of our trip we went to the most beautiful beach in the world and Lovango Cay (where we hosted dinner for the crew at Zozo). All in, this was a great vacation day! read more

My wife and I went out with Captain John on the Rumbaba sailboat yesterday 9-24-18. We had a awesome day. John made ahi tuna for lunch and it was great. We snorkeled at a couple different small islands where no one else was around. We saw lots of cool fish and got great pictures on my go pro of turtles, barracuda, and stingrays. When the day was done we had a very nice sail back to port. I highly recommend this private charter over any dunkem & drunkem boat out there. John does serve drinks too! Responsibly all day. Fantastic sunset cruise combined with some time for snorkeling on St. Jon. We had an incredible time. Jon timed everything perfectly so that we had enough time to snorkel and not miss the sunset. The conversation was great and included lots of interesting little tidbits about island life. Our older boys are sailors, and Jon let them have time at the helm to sail as they please...they were thrilled. The refreshments were awesome...he really supplies superior food. Great for a last minute booking! Excellent value and a wildly good time! We booked with Jon and Christina two days before hand and they were quick to get us set up on a boat with 4 other people. We had a great time, the company was excellent, Christina whipped up a great lunch and had the drinks flowing. We saw some turtles, rays, and lots of fish on our snorkel. We loved how Jon would cater to what the group wanted to do, asking us if we wanted more sail time, more snorkel time, if we wanted to drive the boat. Would highly recommend. read more

We had such a great day on Rumbaba! Right when we were about to sail a quick rainstorm hit and Jon was kind enough to delay our departure so we could miss the rain. He also took us out with just the two of us and tailored the trip to whatever we wanted to do. It was awesome. Christina could not have been nicer. Best day ever!!! Right from the start the experience was spectacular. Captain Jon and Christina were so friendly. Food was amazing. Mango chutney dip was something I want the recipe for. The meals were some of the best I've had on the island (ahi tuna and mahi mahi). Swimming and cruising was so relaxing. And let's not forget about the painkillers!!! We have been on multiple day trips around the water during our stay on St. John. Our trip with Jon and Christina was by far the best experience. Excellent time, was made very comfortable on board. Jon was very happy to cater the sail to what we wanted to do. Saw some sites, learned about the local island life, was show the ropes (literally and figuratively) of sailing. Christina guided us though some great snorkeling, pointing out a lot of things that I would have completely missed on my own. Jon and Christina where gracious, flexible and generous. We were never rushed, we had flexibility in how we spent our time, snorkeling vs sailing and sightseeing. They were incredibly generous with food and drinks. They served us multiple times with delicious meals prepared right on the boat and they never let our cups run dry.
